Weekend Trip to Riverside Restful Relaxing Campsite

Great welcome from Andy. The site is very peaceful with good kayaking. Facilities are a bit basic but adequate. The kitchen area is well equipped with gas stove, drinks and condiments to help with cooking. Fire pits and wood readily available. Only comments other than that would be that the signage could be improved and branches over the entrance road should be cut back. Overall a very nice stay here.

Weekend Trip to Bridgewood Camping - Woodland camps

What a fabulous camping experience. Sarah and Paul were so welcoming and friendly and showed us around the campsite. We had 2 pitches to choose from and we stayed in oak which was so secluded and lovely and looked over the deer park. Everything about Bridgewood was charming and convenient, from visiting the piggies when topping up our water, to the clean and convenience shower and toilet block. The setting is so beautiful and we had sum and shade which was perfect because we had our dog with us. We would definitely come back again!!! Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Goren Farm

We stayed in the old moor hideaway pitch, which was lovely and private, looking over one of the beautiful wildflower meadows. The pitch has cows nearby, which we liked but if you’re not a fan of cows it might not be the pitch for you. Lots of lovely butterflies and birds to watch. Compost loos, sink and showers all good, fire pit provided. Checking in wasn’t super smooth as the host hadn’t received a notification that we’d booked on here, but they were friendly and welcoming when we did arrive. Website said there was wheelbarrows to transport stuff up to the plot because you couldn’t drive the whole way but there wasn’t any. There was also a recycling sign recommending burning light plastics in your firepit… not particularly good for the environment or your health breathing in the fumes… Despite these little things I would visit again, lovely spot.

3 nights at Goren Farm

We had a magical time camping at Goren Farm. Blessed with lovely weather we enjoyed having nature all around. Photographing flowers, bees and insects in the meadows and relaxing with birdsong and a glass or two of wine. Just perfect. We hope to return to this very special place.

Wonderful stay at Wytch Wood, this weekend, beautiful campsite with amazing pitches, great wood fire pizza on Saturday evening. Site is very welcoming with nice touches such as eco shampoos and shower gels in the shower blocks, and honesty bar and fire wood etc. would thoroughly recommend, would will be back soon!

I absolutely loved our stay at Gorens wild meadow camping and will definitely be returning. The land is beautiful and so peaceful. The hot showers were lovely too! So many nice walks around the land and close to it. The hosts were great too! We also enjoyed coffee and cake at the cafe which was delicious!

Weekend Trip to Hincknowle Cider Apple Farm Camping

Really beautiful peaceful campsite with fantastic facilities. We picked pitch 9 with the best views down the valley and across to the woodland. It was so peaceful that all we heard was the birds singing and the wind blowing. Frida was so welcoming and showed us round when we arrived. The field has been left to grow so is full of wildflowers and insects, and the individual campsites are their own mown circle up their own mown track. The toilets and showers are lovely and clean - great hot showers! The indoor area in a barn is a real bonus with tables and chairs, board games, a table tennis table and a dartboard. The kitchen is very well-equipment and in poor weather good for indoor cooking. Eggs, sausages and cider are available for purchase. There is a lovely walk around the farmland including the large apple orchards with gorgeous views along the way. All in all highly recommended.

Weekend Trip to Stowford Manor Farm Campsite

Fantastic location on river frome so can cold water swim, or paddle boarding (short part only). Stowfords is so well laid out...reception is easy and super friendly. Pizza van is perfect (fri/sat 5.30-8pm) lovely pizza. Camping site well laid out.. Big pitches along river, very quiet, lovely group of kids playing all over fields...toilets and hot showers, clean and well maintained...local attractions include public paths along river to Iford or check out Farleigh Hungerford castle with awesome audio tour. On Stowford Farm, there are arts, pottery, glass making studios which had open studio days so interesting to see. Night time is just chilled, with firepits/bbqs lit up and soft chatter amongst happy campers. Definitely be back soon.

4 nights at Southover Woods and Camping

We had a beautiful camping trip, toilet and shower very basic but fine for us as we aren’t fussy. Chloe and her husband were very helpful. The greyhound site is perfect for a large group and it is beautiful and surrounded by nature, we loved listening to all the birds in the morning. It’s a perfect place for some time offline and relaxing. Water being back by the carpark is a bit of a nightmare but aware there is nothing you can do to change that, would just recommend people to bring water with them. Only thing I would say is the site definitely needs more signage on where to go as the orange arrows aren't very clear and maybe should have a warning that the tank training is nearby as we were caught off guard by the very loud bangs until 2am! (Aware you wouldn’t know when they are training but a warning that it might happen would be good)

We love it here. Very relaxed rural space with only one pitch per field. Beautiful wildflowers and they have worked hard at creating a biodiversity paradise. You almost never find campsites this isolated in the UK.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Lesley and Paul really looked after us. They even got fresh farm produce for us in advance. I would thoroughly recommend staying here. It's easy to get to off the coastal path and is a great place to stay around Coombe Martin.

Overview

From dramatic cliffscape to wildlife-rich woodland, the small-but-mighty Quantocks has it all. Colourful heathland sprawls across the region’s slopes, while its diverse woodlands and scrub provide a natural habitat for red deer, sessile oak, and a variety of native birds. Unsurprisingly, wildlife-watching is a top activity here, though ramblers and riders will find lots to do too. The Quantocks are a particularly popular family destination, with plenty of fossils to hunt and forests to explore all the year round.

Where to go

West Quantoxhead to Kilve Coast

This Blue Anchor coastline on the Bristol Channel boasts Jurassic fossils, rugged cliffs, and deep rock pools, ideal for a day’s exploring with curious kids or nature-loving adults. Several holiday parks and no-frills campgrounds offer a convenient base for coastal or inland adventure.

Crowcombe

Near the AONB’s western border, this charming village and its surrounding meadows are a rambler’s paradise, with the Quantock Greenway and Samaritans Way South West trails passing directly through. Caravan parks and traditional campgrounds can be found nearby.

Aisholt

Home to the ancient Aisholt Wood, this scenic region in the east of the Quantocks was a known haunt of English Romantics Coleridge and Wordsworth. The red deer endemic to the Quantocks can often be seen here or at the nearby Holford Kelting reserve. Camping options include no-frills farm sites, plus glamping and caravanning.

Broomfield

In the southerly reaches of the AONB, this hilltop parish is among the highest points in the Quantocks, with its hiking trails providing sweeping rural vistas. The wild garden at Fyne Court offers family-friendly outdoor fun, while wild-style campgrounds and luxury glampsites can be found not too far away.

Kingston St Mary

Right on the southern border of the Quantock Hills, this gateway parish is just a 5-minute drive from the county town of Taunton, which is linked directly by train to London, Plymouth, Leeds, and Cardiff. The South Quantock Heritage Trail ticks off most of the region’s main sights, and is best explored on foot, bike, or horseback. Eco lodges, farm camps, and caravan sites are all available in the vicinity.
