Weekend Trip to Alder Carr Farm

We spent a couple of nights at this very basic yet perfectly wonderful place. If you are looking for a break away from it all then I highly recommend. The only neighbours you share the huge field with is sheep who are no problem at all. There is a river that runs behind which is suitable for paddling or for those a bit braver - wild swimming. There are plenty of walks directly from the site or just a short drive away. Also, the Royal Oak at the top of the road is a good place for food and drinks. Luckily we had lovely weather during our stay which made our stay as perfect as it was. Also, the toilet hut is something to behold. It really is a room with a view!!

The place is beautiful with nice view in the back field. Plenti of space for kids to zoom around and the host is very attentive. The surroundings are beautiful with lots of places to visit.

Views and location was amazing, we had such a lovely time just enjoy the scenery and the peace and quiet. Camp site has everything you need. Just gutted we had only booked the 3 nights, which we would of booked longer. Thank you!

Our 2nd time visiting! We love how we're just left to it, yet feel secure and like we can message if there's any issues. Stunning views and the facilties are great. We'll be back for a third time I'm sure.

2 nights at Alder Carr Farm

The river is lovely and camping was very peaceful. We also saw a new born calf whilst we stayed! Great location and the food from the farm shop was excellent.

1 night at Great Haywood Canalside Campsite

The host, Patrick, was amazing. He fixed an issue which I had created when booking the trip. The location was perfect for our plans. Lovey canal side location. Great cafe 2 minutes walk of site, pub 5-10 minutes. No issues with noise from the train track close by. Thank you

Great back to basics camping on a working farm in the beautiful Dovedale area of Derbyshire. A large peaceful field to ourselves with a campfire and access to the river. Alex is a very friendly and helpful owner.

I loved my stay, could have easily stopped a few more nights. I loved that the site was small, and camping in the woods reminded me of wild camping in Scotland last year, but with the security of a site. The hosts were lovely and I'll definitely be back again soon.

David’s land is in a beautiful setting, plenty of space to relax and enjoy stay. You are surrounded by nature and the sound of birds singing. Back to basics, just perfect. Great host and very helpful.

Paid a midweek (Tues-Fri) visit to the Hollies- yet another enjoyable time there. Hit lucky again with superb weather conditions, superb spotless toilets and showers, friendly family members call round to check if firewood is needed, and that all is OK. Pizza man was stocking up for the weekend (Fri-Sun) friendly chap and reviews for what he sells are all good. Look forward to my next visit to this superb site, next chance I get. Very clean and well maintained site. Owners are around multiple times a day and very friendly and helpful! Toilets, shower and patio area cleaned regularly. The pizzas are delicious and a great touch! And of course can’t grumble at the lovely view

Lovely little campsite with great views. A little busier than we expected but it was bank holiday. Lots of walks directly from the campsite and some nice local pubs not too far away. Field was well maintained, facilities were generally clean and campsite owners were friendly.
