Weekend Trip to Pytingwyn Woods

What a lovely delight to find such a peaceful and beautiful camping pitch . We camped right by the river and fell asleep to the wondering sounds of the stream . George the horse was a lovely surprise for the little one and will definitely be returning ! The host is also lovely and very helpful . Overall this is a 10/10 for a wild camping experience and would highly recommend.

What a gorgeous site - at one side a babbling brook, that you can hear as you fall asleep, to pairs of Red Kites and Buzzards wheeling overhead - and flocks of Goldfinches hopping about the grasses in the meadow and field. The weather was very good and I fell asleep watching bats and the moon rise, with the van door open all night. There's already stone fire pits, a compostable loo, and a lovely area where you can pitch up and enjoy the woods and the area, in peace and quiet. David is the owner and is lovely, so very helpful, which I appreciated loads. I can see why this little slice of heaven has been nominated for awards - and I'd suggest that people come and visit to try it out for themselves.

It's amazing, open field with views, Max & James are pleasant and friendly, very welcoming. The site is a short walk to Little Haven and if you time it right you can walk along the beach to Broad Haven, either come back the way you came or walk through the town along the village roads back. I love how quiet and peaceful it is.

Girt DOWN FARM ..... Beautiful, relaxing and stunning surroundings of views of the coast. The sunset and sunrise were stunning. Stargazing is a must. Lovely to chat to Paul and Lesley whilst they are going about their daily farming. They have a wealth of knowledge of the area. Their fresh hens eggs were amazing. We had a lovely breakfast roll in the morning too. Showers, toilets and washing up area are lovely and clean. Fresh spring water out of the tap. There is an old railway carriage to chill, charge your phone and a fridge freezer. Firepits & Wood and you can also BBQ. This is such a lovely and friendly farm. A great place for families, couples or Trekkers. You can chill & unwind with a book, plenty of wildlife and birds. There are walks out of the farm, take a stroll up to Great Hangman or a carry on to Little Hangman which was about an hour. Again the views of the coasts are stunning at the top. You can carry on walking which takes you to Combe Martin beach, cafes, chippy, shops and a butchers. Or walk the other way to Heddons mouth which takes about 4 hours but so worth it..... beach, a pint and a lovely meal. Girt farm is surrounded by so much to do locally, local produce, quaint villages, Exmoor and walks galore. There are Buses from Combe Martin which go both ways up and down the coasts. I would highly recommended. AND We will be back for a longer stay next time. A REAL HIDDEN 💎 GEM. 🏕

Simon was friendly and welcomed us when we arrived. Their property was scenic and we really enjoyed the nature around us, the river and sheep and the rolling hills. The facilities are functional and for me thats how I like to camp, just being there for the right reasons to be around nature ☺️ We had a great time using the firepits, they have usb charging if you need it. It was just really a nice break here at the farm

Gorgeous views of the coast and camping just as it should be - back to basics with acres of space but perfectly adequate and clean facilities. The coast path is just a few minutes away from the site and there are some incredible views to be had from Little Hangman. The Heddon Valley is close by too and definitely worth visiting. The coast path here is seriously hilly, but with views like this, it is well worth the effort.

My 8 year old loves making dens and bases and has heard about wild camping that my wife and I used to do and wanted to do some himself. Since he isn’t quite up to a proper expedition at his age I went looking for a campsite where we could give him a taste of it and found this place. We camped in the woods within a few metres of the river. We cooked over fires and slept under a tarp shelter between trees, boiled water from the river and in his eyes lived in the wilderness for a couple of days. Just what we were after.

The camping field is off-grid, with far reaching rural views and has five spacious, gently sloping pitches, which allow a level of privacy. After a busy day adventuring or relaxing, you’ll be able to sit by the campfire and on a clear night be amazed at how many stars you can see and how vast our skies are. There is a stream in the pond at the bottom of the fields (it is not fenced and adults must supervise the children by the water at all times). The area by the stream has started to be planted with new trees and we are committed to planting many more. We are looking at other rewilding projects, while we continue to provide pastureland for the sheep to graze. The camping field is located down the road from the main caravan park. Please note we are in the countryside and street lighting is not available on the road please bring a torch and enjoy the beautiful uninterrupted night sky. Great Redford is nestled away in 25 acres of Pembrokeshire countryside. The site is off-grid, and has five spacious pitches. Each pitch has its own camp fire, and picnic table and we have 2 Portaloos in the camping field, but you do have full use of the heated washrooms with waterfall showers and automatic taps on Redford Caravan Park. The site is a car free zone, the car park is in the camp field and there are wheel barrows to transport your kit to and from your pitch. There is plenty of space for kids to run free too. Great Redford and Redford Caravan Park are both dog friendly parks, making it the perfect get away for the whole family.

Wild camping at Emmetts on Exmoor

Emmetts on Exmoor is part of the highest farm on the moor, up at an altitude of 1250 feet with gorgeous views out over the surrounding scenery of the national park. You won't find a better place for spotting wildlife right from your tent! Red deer herds regularly frequent the moor which is opposite your pitch. Other wildlife in the area include cuckoos, woodpeckers, golden plovers, foxes and much more! This is a place that’s big on space but small on guest numbers, so there’s always plenty of space around to soak up the rural atmosphere, spot wildlife and play games. It’s worth noting that Exmoor National Park was designated Europe’s first Dark Sky Reserve back in 2011, so you should hopefully be in for spectacular displays of stars by night too. Unsurprisingly, this is a great area for walks and mountain bike rides; other activities in the area include things like fishing, sailing and pony trekking. If you’ve still got any energy left after that little lot, the farm’s all-weather tennis court is available to hire for a game or two. There is a proper shower and loo available next to the car parking area and all pitches are approximately a 500 metre walk away from this area through woodland and across pasture. Remember the site is off-grid so it’s a good idea to remember to bring along a torch. Guests are welcome to bring along a barbecue or hire a firepit and purchase wood onsite. You can also buy fresh free-range eggs from the farm’s hens so a good breakfast should be on the cards too. Exford and Withypool (both within 15 minutes) have good village shops for picking up any other supplies you might need plus tea rooms and pubs. The Poltimore Arms and The Exmoor Forest Inn are two very local pubs that are well worth a visit.

If you’re lucky, you’ll get to see at least one of the amazing sunsets at Red Sky at Night Campsite near Monmouth – but if you don’t, there’s mighty compensation in the shape of the spectacular views from just about everywhere on the site. And of course, on clear nights, the night skies are diamond-bright with stars - we are under one of Wales' Dark Sky Reserves! This family-run camping field on a livestock farm is managed on very laidback lines. Pitch up wherever you like and feel free to park by your tent (weather permitting). Raised campfires are allowed and you can hire firepits and grills (the owners sell local eggs & sausages) and buy bags of wood & kindling. Wild camping this may be (there’s no electricity on site, please note) but there are two nicely designed compost loos and a covered sink areas with fresh water tap. So bring your guitar, light that fire, break out the barbecue and enjoy the chilled vibe.

Our beautiful home is a glamping and camping site with its own gorgeous fishing lake on the outskirts of the village of Llandyfan. You can find us to the west of the Brecon Beacons or Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. Llandyfan Campsite has been lovingly re-established in early 2024 by Andy and Jo. Since taking ownership, we have rolled up our sleeves and got stuck into restoring it to its former glory and will soon be back to being a fully operational slice of Welsh heaven. Our first focus has been the fishing lake which we opened in March. The campsite followed in May. We are currently working on electric hook ups and other improvements. We have chickens on site that roam free during the day. They are friendly and like to wander around the tents to say hello to our guests! We would like everyone who visits to have a great time and a relaxing break. Whilst here please be considerate towards others, to their property, and while using the facilities. If you have any concerns, please let us know. We have brought out a few rules from our T&Cs and we kindly ask that you have a read through before your stay. Litter: You must pick up your litter. Please either take it with you or recycle it appropriately in the bins onsite. There are bins around the campsite, please recycle where possible. Pitches to be left as you found them. Noise: Be respectful and consider your neighbours. Keep noise to a minimum after 10pm and before 8am in the morning. No loud music is to be played at any time. Children: Children must be supervised at all times around the campsite and can play within the pitch space allocated to you. At quiet times, it may be possible for children to use vacant pitches for play but this cannot be guaranteed. The amenity block and associated facilities are not to be used as a play area. Dogs: Must not to be left unattended. Are to be kept on leads at all times whilst on the campsite. (We are working on an enclosed dog walking area, however this is not yet available). no refunds on bookings if cancelled withing 10days of booking

Our level well drained field is easily accessible from the A483, and offers spacious pitches. Llandrindod Wells, which has cafes, supermarkets, pubs, takeaways and activities, is approximately 3 miles South. Fishing is available on the farm, with trout, chubb and brownings on the river Ithon, but licences are required.
