"A tranquil lakeside glampsite just 15 minutes from Blackpool?" you ask incredulously. No dear camper, we're not a few tent pegs short of a full set. The Lancashire Fylde is an alluvial peninsula bounded by the Bowland hills to the east, the Irish Sea to the west, Morecambe Bay to the north and the Ribble estuary to the south. Once harvested for peat by the locals, the land is incredibly nutrient rich and today, a wide variety of flora and fauna abounds. It is here that the industrious folks from Stanley Villa Farm have been busy creating their brand new Camping Bugs site.

The colourful purpose built 'bugs' are fully insulated and equipped (though you'll need to bring your own bedding). When your little ones have tired themselves out exploring the sprawling fields (the size of 4 football fields!), they'll love retiring to their den-like digs for the weekend. The communal Lakeside Lodge has everything you need for a hassle-free stay including washing and cooking facilities, plus a large common room.

The centrepiece of the site is the 5 acre man-made lake. The Flyde Trout Fishery welcomes all levels of anglers to fish the various breeds of trout. It’s also not unusual to see wild deer as well as the usual suspects (rabbits, squirrels, pheasants, and a large selection of birds including; kingfishers, hawks and owls) congregating to sup from its trout-inhabited waters.

While not as wild as the fells of neighbouring Cumbria and a touch too far inland to enjoy coastal views, this part of the north-west has its own unique charm. Moreover, it's ideally placed for a bit of rural relaxation.

If you do need to charge phones or plug in your hair dryer, there is plenty of power available in the nearby Lakeside Lodge, or you can hire a battery pack on site if you’d rather charge your device in your Bell Tent.  Bell Tents each come with a fire pit. Wood can be purchased on site. Check in from 3pm until 8pm. Check out 10.30am. Early Arrival & Late Check out available at an additional cost and can be added during the booking process. Our Wood Fired Hot Tubs are designed for 2 people maximum.  1.      Rates include; 2 bags of wood and kindling for the tub. Typically, enough – extra wood is available to purchase. 2.      Available to use from your check in time to 10.30pm. 3.      Recommended Minimum age 14 years. Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult. 4.      Wood Fired Tubs don’t have electricity connected – so no bubbles / jets. Just relaxation and fantastic lakeside views.

Lovely place to just come and relax and forget about everything for a night. Me and my wife loved it, weather was lovely when we arrived but then the rain kicked in so we rented jenga ( other games could be rented ) and had some fun until the rain passed so we could lite the lovely wood fire. Would like to go again ( but get the hot tub next time ) . Very enjoyable 😉

We decided last minute we wanted a night away with the dog. Many places wanted a minimum 2 night booking but we were pleasantly surprised when able to book just the one. The site is set out beautifully. Most of the pods set around a grassy area where May kids (and adults) were enjoying playing games. We brought our own disposable BBQ but they can be bought at the shop alongside coffee, amazing ice creams and things like camping chairs can be rented for a mere £3. We got the fire set which included items to make a campfire and I must say once the sun went down the atmosphere with everyone’s fires going in the dark was magical! There’s also a lovely lake where we were able to walk the dog. The pod was spacious enough and beds comfy. All that’s needed for a night away. The only thing we would have liked was somewhere to tether the dog!! We managed by locking her lead under the bed but this didn’t give her much wiggle room outside of the pod and would have been lovely for her to be based outside with us. If wanting takeaway, we found Antonio’s on just eat and their pizza really was delicious!! I think if the vending machines had a contactless function a lot more people would spend as people tend to not carry cash these days. We will definitely return. Especially at the price (£65+£5 for the dog and £10 for the fire bits). Next time we’d like to venture to Blackpool as it’s really not far away. A+++

Nice spot for fishing. It was nice and quiet for fishing, and we caught plenty of fish in the stock pond. The staff were friendly and the showers in the 24/7 lodge were nice and warm. Good place for a warm dry brekkie if that's what you're looking for. The cafe is open most of the day. It was nice and quiet at the end of the night. Family and pet friendly

I loved camping at Stanley Villa Farm! I had a warm welcome from Tom followed by a lovely relaxing evening. All staff were very friendly and helpful. The communal toilets and kitchen area were kept to a clean standard. Stanley Villa Farm is a fantastic family place and I would 100% recommend to people with kids to visit here. I will definitely be returning in the near future! :)

The site was clean and nicely laid out, relatively easy to find and there was a friendly welcome.it is very family friendly and has lambs and chickens on site. It was a cute little pod. It’s very basic with just two single wooden beds and mattresses. There is nothing else in the pods, so we felt £85 was a bit expensive. The farm website does state exactly what is included but Hip camp states that it sleeps 4 (only if you take your own extra double bed) and doesn’t state that there is no bedding/towels etc. It’s also misleading as in hip camp it looks like to get your own private toilet and shower which you don’t. So that could do with being changed. Overall a really nice site but not quite as expected (not the campsites fault though) and we felt a little but pricey for how basic it was.

Was a lovely setting, few issues for me when I am sat outside quietly with my partner and my dog that were told there was an 11pm curfew for drinking, torches shone in our eyes, I am a responsible adult, maybe in future move all the couples together and keep all the familys together. We are all there to relax and have a good time and I fully understand about noise and respect people around me, we did enjoy our break a lot would I come back probably not, there's so much more you could do to make money

We loved camping here because, firstly, we were greeted by really pleasant and helpful staff who accommodated us with our autistic adult son. The site is amazing, the pods looked great, we were allowed to take our dog. There were reasonable rules to follow, for eg, keeping pet on a lead. There were showers , toilets, kitchen all available to all on site and were very clean, even portable toilets were clean, this is a real must have because no one wishes to use a dirty toilet. Loved this place and would recommend it to all. Huge thank you to Alex and all the staff who were awesome.

We had a perfect few days. Staff are friendly and helpful and we felt very comfortable. The lodge and all facilities very clean and disinfectant etc available to use in communial areas. There was a nice family community feel but we weren't on top of each other at any time. It was lovely to sit out with a camp fire, relaxing & watching the kids play knowing that it will be nice and quiet for bedtime. I relaxed into the break very quickly and certainly feel very refreshed after a short break away from it all. My kids came alive helping to feed the animals and making new friends, playing in fields and enjoying the relaxed way of life. Thanks very much for a lovely stay.

Such a beautiful place to visit! We arranged to meet friends their and on arrival our pod was the further away from them which didn’t really suit our plans. We asked to move and were changed instantly with no fuss at all. The outdoor grassy area between pods left plenty of room for 4 people & 2 BBQs with social distancing. Can’t wait to come back

stanley villa fam is an absolute treasure what more can i say about this lovely little place is just a world on its own it just can't get any better than what it already is althou now whith the arrival of the lambs and the chickens i do stand to be corrected ,the owners are absolutly brilliant nothing is to much for these lovely peaple they just can't do enough for you and the kids what more do you want where you can just chill in front of the camp fire and the kids just run them selves out for a good night sleep we have now been stanley villa farm 4 times and we are already in the process of booking our next trip forget going abroad ,,if you've never been glamping before just try a couple of days at this little jem and you will never look back ,,you will Defintely be hooked for life,,what more do you want from a glamping holiday than fishing in the fully stocked lake ,,lazing in front of your very camp fireletting the kids play as they do feeding the sheep and the chickens or just chilling in the log cabin where you get free tea coffee and chocolate an don't forget the first class showers and toilets second to none,,,,booked now you won't regret it

What a hidden gem! The staff were amazing, nothing was a problem at all. The sheep, chickens and the freedom the children had was fabulous. At one point they all were sat in a social distanced circle with their new found friends. They made bike jumps and went to get wood for the fire. So many extra touches, even put pink balloons in my daughters pod as it was her birthday. Had breakfast at the whitmore fisheries a beautiful scenic and nice full English, only two minutes down the road with was lovely. One night we had tea at the Miller, also great, only 5 minutes away. The children even had a swim in the sea, great clean beach at lythum, 20 minutes away. I will definitely be back again, no surprise though when I hear they get booked up so earlier. Alot of the other capers we spoke to had been there before. Absolute perfection, thank you and see you soon.

A tranquil lakeside glampsite just 15 minutes from Blackpool?" you ask incredulously. No dear camper, we're not a few tent pegs short of a full set. The Lancashire Fylde is a peninsula bounded by the Bowland hills to the east, the Irish Sea to the west, Morecambe Bay to the north and the Ribble estuary to the south. Once harvested for peat by the locals, the land is incredibly nutrient rich and today, a wide variety of flora and fauna abounds. It is here that the industrious folks from Stanley Villa Farm have been busy creating and developing their Award Winning Site! The colourful locally built Pods are fully insulated and equipped with 2 beds and mattresses (you'll just need to bring your own bedding. Airbeds can be hired for children). Half of the Pods are heated with a radiator for those who feel the cold. The Bell Tents which run from April to October are fully furnished with; a double bed, a double sofa bed, drawers for storage, and beautiful greenery and led candles. The centerpiece of the Bell Tents are the Wood-Burning Stoves! All Pods and Bell Tents come with a fire pit and fire wood packages can be purchased on site. We have the Lake View heated pod with a Wood Fired Hot Tub and Bell Tent 1 with a Wood Fired Hot Tub. Perfect for soaking up the stunning lakeside views. The communal Lakeside Lodge has 3 shower rooms, kitchen area with Kettle, Toaster, Microwave, Fridges and Freezers plus a large common room. The centerpiece of the site is the 4 acre lake which welcomes all levels of anglers to fish for Carp, Roach and Rudd. The Carp range in size upto 24lbs. It’s also not unusual to see wild deer as well as the usual suspects (rabbits, squirrels, pheasants, and a large selection of birds including; kingfishers, hawks and owls) congregating to sup from its waters. While not as wild as the fells of neighboring Cumbria and a touch too far inland to enjoy coastal views, this part of the north-west has its own unique charm. Moreover, it's ideally placed for a bit of rural relaxation.
Nearby attractions

The Forest of Bowland, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is a beautiful stretch of rugged, unspoilt countryside covering 312 square miles of rural Lancashire and adjacent Yorkshire. Perfect for gentle walks, mountain biking, bird watching and scenic picnics. Lytham St Annes is a charming and most famous for its world-renowned golf course. A beer festival is held every September and the annual Lytham Proms take place by the town's charming windmill. Morecombe Bay is not too far either. Blackpool is just a 15 minute drive away from the farm. With donkey rides, candy floss and assorted seaside goodies, it's a great place to reconnect with the holidays of your childhood. Tourist favourites include the Winter Gardens, Pleasure Beach and iconic Blackpool Tower.

Food and drink

Most guests opt to BBQ or rustle something up in the campsite kitchen. The Eagle at Weeton (01253 542141) offers a fantastic selection of modern pub food. The Ashiana (01253 836883) is a superb nearby Indian restaurant, specialising in traditional Bangladeshi dishes. Open till late every night – eat in or collection only. Or if you don’t mind a short 15 minute drive, there is a range of dining options available in Lytham. Try Bosco (01253 733799) for a variety of Italian cuisine. There’s also a range of great pubs and bars with a vibrant atmosphere including CAMRA approved tavern - The Taps.
