The area has lots of juniper trees and cedar trees. Lots of wildlife mostly deer and birds. The property is located 10 minutes away from a fishing pond called rainbow pond. It is 45 minutes away from Alturas downtown. Two hours and 15 minutes away from Mount Shasta. You will need the coordinates to get there. It is a dirt road. Dry camping with raw beautiful land.

The recreation opportunities in the Alturas CA area are endless, fishing, hiking biking, hunting, boating and OHV. The camping site has nearly 3 acres with a view of the town of Alturas and is a great place to kick back and enjoy the atmosphere of fresh air and juniper trees. There are flat usable campsites around the property and one portion of the property is fenced for horses (bring your own water trough). The property is approximately 3 minutes from downtown Alturas with restaurants and stores. The sleepy town is a perfect place to hang out and relax at the big park in town behind the VFW Hall on Main Street, have refreshments at the two bars in town or try your luck at the Desert Rose Casino. The Wildlife Refuge has a self driving tour where you can see all kinds of birds and wildlife. Take a drive outside town to the "Ranches" to see deer, antelope, eagles and various waterfowl! Alturas is a high desert area with wonderful views of the Warner Mountains and has an enchanting feel to it. Temperatures in the summer rarely get over 100 degrees, mostly low 90's, and in the fall the cool nights make for great sleeping. Pop over Cedar Pass to Cedarville which is about 20 minutes away to check out the newly designated "Dark Sky" area. Come up and hang out in this very cool and special place, you will not want to leave!!  The town of Alturas is also in the coveted X hunting zones, X3a, X3b and X2, for those of you who like to hunt. Two sites have full hook ups and the small trailer site on the above pad (see trailer picture) has electric only.  During the winter, the pump house is turned off and drained due to freezing temperatures and the risk of blowing a pipe, so campers must bring their own water during November through March.  Please ask if there are changes in these dates for the water hook ups.

Alturas, is located on the Pit River, east of the center of Modoc County, with a population of 2,700. It is on US 395 and about 50 miles south of the Oregon border and minutes away from Cal Pines. The California Pines lodge is 10 miles southwest of Alturas off of Centerville Road and sits next to the 256 acre Cal Pines Lake. The elevation in the Hill Units varies from 5,000 to 6,400 feet. The Hill Units cover an area of 20,000 acres. Within minutes of your new property you will be able to hunt, fish, hike, ride mountain bikes, camp, boat, four wheel drive, snowmobile, ski, golf, wildlife & bird watch, picnic and explore the Modoc National Forest. Also you are just a 90 minute drive from Mt. Shasta ski resort and only about a 3 hour drive from Reno. THE PROPERTY: This beautiful parcel is on Ashley Road in Hill Unit 3. You can drive right on this nice level lot with native grasses and scattered Ponderosa pines. Camp and enjoy the great view of the valley below and the Warner mountains to the east. What a great Campground. We arrived in the middle of Labor Day Weekend and there were plenty of open spots. Almost all of the 47 spots are shaded. All have sturdy picnic tables and grills. There are spigots with potable water through out the campground. Deer ambled through the Campground at all hours of the day. Owls hooted all through the quiet and very dark nights. Great stargazing as light pollution is non existent here. The lake is beautiful with a nice walking path around the circumference. Fees were a very reasonable $14.00 per night. Loved it, we will be back
