Great place for single or multi night camping. Close to several historical sites and national monuments. It’s primitive style with no access to potable water but there is a porta potty and bins for trash. Owner - Vicky - is highly communicative and responsive. She easily accommodated our large group - 35 people. Even with that many folks there was still plenty of room and didn’t feel like we were on top of each other. She has a very friendly dog who guards the place at night and will surely ask you for some head rubs. We’ll be back for sure.

We had a lovely stay at Big sky Ranch. We had no idea there was also a brewery and live music on site. We were there on a Sunday so it was closed but what a great addition. The staff was nice and directed us to pick any site we wanted. As we were dry camping we found a great shady spot. It was quite, only one other couple camping at the other end. There was some slight noise from neighboring dogs, but it didn't bother us at all. The resident Rooster made sure we woke up early to get ready for the Petrified Forest. The cow was a doll and Goats hilarious. We will definitely make plans to come back and stay with friends when the brewery and music are happening. I guess there are food trucks too. What a little Gem!!

5 nights at Verde River Vortex Adventure

We had the best time at Crystal Loft Cabin! Jason was an incredible host offering all the tips you could need on everything from places to eat, hike, kayak, bike, live music, etc. He even came to pick up my friend and I at the end of kayaking on the verde river! Crystal Loft is a perfect space 17 minutes outside of downtown Cottonwood, and 40 or so from Sedona with amazing star views, and all the amenities you could need. It was mid 80’s-low 90’s when there, but cooled off perfectly in the evenings, and Jason had an AC unit and fan that kept the cabin perfect temp. The bed on the upstairs loft was comfortable. Highly recommend this spot- so glad we found it. Thanks Jason!

Where do I start… First off, Jen was a fantastic host who was super accommodating. I can’t describe how amazing her hospitality was even during the end of the season. I truly believe in in her mission for spiritual healing in nature, especially those who suffer from PTSD. Second, the property is amazing that is rich in history. There’s so much to do and see without the hustle and bustle of the busy holiday crowds. It is perfect for those who are trying to get away from the busyness of life even just for a couple days. The views were breathtaking. The hiking was fantastic and the lake was super close. Third, then the night sky at this property is absolutely stunning. Looking up at the stars never seen more clear than any picture book or video. My favorite part was the silence of the area during the night. It was the same as or better than a hyperbaric chamber. This was absolutely what I was looking for to reset my mindset after the memorial Day weekend. I absolutely recommend this place and will definitely be coming back.

We stayed at Hawk’s Hideaway (Site #4) over Memorial Weekend. We expected it to be packed but were surprised by how quiet and peaceful it was. Campers came and went, but everyone was friendly and respectful. We seemed to be the only ones who stayed the full weekend. Although we never saw the host, self check-in and check-out went smoothly. We didn’t visit the nearby river, but walking the grounds was a highlight—lush, green, and nothing like typical Arizona. That said, lots of bugs—if bugs aren't your thing, keep that in mind. Every morning we were greeted by songbirds, and we were lucky enough to spot an owl and a great blue heron near camp. Truly a unique experience and one of the more scenic Hipcamps we’ve stayed at. The only downside: flies—especially in the mornings while trying to cook or eat. We were camped nearest to the porta potties, which started to smell and draw flies by Day 3. We assume this was the source of the issue. More frequent cleanings or relocating them would help a lot. Next time we’d choose a site further from the toilets, but we still recommend Hawk’s Hideaway for those looking for a semi-developed dispersed camping spot near Sedona or Clarkdale!

Nearby activities include: bird watching, hiking, river rafting or tubing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, stargazing, and rockhounding. Enjoy hanging out with like-minded adventurers who prefer Tents, Vans, Class B's and small trailers (like teardrops, pods and popups) - we do not permit ATV's or trailers over 26' SimpleLife gives dogs room to roam (and you as well) on our 15 private acres attached to hundreds more of beautiful public land. SimpleLife is only 2 miles from Kanab's conveniences -- in a country setting providing easy access to Grand Canyon, Escalante, Bryce, Zion and thousands of one of a kind square miles of desert adventures.

These two Sites are better for tents or a small trailer. A personal generator may be used but only during certain hours. These are lovely spots with shade trees, so pretty. There are lots of mature Juniper trees and some Pine trees that provide shade on the property. Often we experience a lovely breeze. We live a mile off of 260 on a rugged dirt road. We keep the Entrance Gate locked for safety and security. We are located on 2 acres and have a garden and a green house where we grow a large variety of vegetables. We only accept trailers and fifth wheels of 21 feet or less on site #2 and #3. There is a Chicken House and a rooster and we have plenty of farm fresh eggs that are available to purchase. 0ur home is tucked away 1 mile off the 260 Hwy. on a rugged dirt road. First you will drive pass the Linden Valley Arena before reaching our property. The Arena was designed for ropers by ropers and is open from May thru September. 10-15 minute drive away is Fool Hollow lake, Show Low City Park, Safeway Grocery Store, Post Office, Library, and a variety of restaurants.
