3 nights at Holcomb Valley Ranch

We had a nice weekend at Holcomb ranch. The property is kept up very well, safe, clean and peaceful. At check in, Ed called ahead with detailed directions to the site. There are markers on the trees identifying the sites making it super easy. The sites are large enough to have a nice distance from neighbors. Overall, we had a great time and will be back.

Such a wonderful second stay at Holcomb Valley ranch! Beautiful views into the meadow, quiet campsite and with great amenities of outhouses, potable water, trash dump, and showers (although we didn’t use these). We really enjoyed our stay :)

Had a wonderful stay, besides the wind it's was amazing! Definitely going back soon! The host was helpful and responsive. It was my first time camping in the desert and my boyfriend's first time camping ever and we both had a wonderful experience here.

Weekend Trip to Bowen Ranch Deep Creek Hot Springs

We went in mid June and it was gorgeous! Still got pretty cold at night as you are practically in the desert so bring a good quilt or blankets. The hike to the hot springs is amazing with some cool views. I would say its a pretty easy hike for experienced hikers but medium to hard for beginners. Make sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and extra bags - I saw trash along the hike and down at the hot springs which is so sad to see and ruins it for others - Overall, it was a beautiful spot and much cleaner than other hot springs I've been to. Leave it better!! Leave No Trace!!

Fantastic place to get away from city life fully immersed in nature. Lots of space between campsites was an unexpected bonus. Directions were precise and easy to follow. Appreciated the Campfire ring with big buckets for ease of putting out the fires and staying safe. The Porta potties were spaced out and close to each site. Views are amazing and the meadow with horses grazing brought us a lot of joy! Our dog loved it too! Thank you!

This was our second time here. Check in was very easy. Our campsite was perfect, the grounds are beautiful. There was a wedding going on that was pretty loud into the night but that means we don’t have to be real quiet either so I’m cool with that. The bathrooms are clean and I think the showers are a new addition. There’s tons of off roading trails around and walking around the meadow is beautiful

This was such an awesome experience! Kyle is super welcoming and the property has such a cool space to explore, relax, play and just have a great time overall! I will definitely be coming back to hopefully help with some of the projects and do some more stargazing!

The site was one of the coolest sites I’ve camped at in a long time. Lots of privacy and space between campers. We got all sorts of visitors from horses to pigs. Clean bathrooms and showers. The host were super friendly. I will definitely come back. The only drawback was the drive up was a little confusing. But the directions the host gave on point.

Holcomb Valley Ranch Campground is hands down my favorite place to camp so far. The natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect spot to celebrate my 42nd birthday; and also my twin sister’s heavenly birthday. I truly felt her presence with me the entire time, and that made the experience even more meaningful. Ed, the host, was beyond welcoming. He helped us with our tent, hung out with us, and shared the most amazing stories from his life. His kindness and energy added something really special to our trip. My husband and our fur baby loved it just as much as I did. We felt completely at home. I can’t wait to go back; and next time, we’re inviting our loved ones to join us. This place will always hold a special place in my heart.

We had the best weekend. View of horses from a distance in the meadow, loved their gentle neighs at bedtime. The camp host Ed is an awesome guy, and the heated showers are such a luxury. Campsite next to us was a bit loud with music but it was out of our control as it was the next property line over. Other than that.... 10/10 experience. Close drive to the lake too! Loving Fawnskin, the quieter and more wild side of Big Bear.

Holcomb Valley Ranch invites you to kick back and relax on our private, 400+ acre ranch in the San Bernardino Mountains. Centered around a 100+ acre meadow, filled with horses in summer months and surrounded by thousands of acres of mountainous National Forest. Just 15 minutes from Big Bear Lake - a large recreational, fresh-water lake for summer swimming, boating, skiing, fishing and other super fun water activities. The Ranch feels remote and private. Yet is only four miles to the town of Big Bear with shopping and restaurants. Also in close proximity to incredible rock climbing at the Pinnacles, seemingly endless hiking and biking and some pretty epic off-roading 4x4 trails. Each campsite is approximately one acre, and generously-distanced from neighboring campers. Amenities include its own fire ring with grilling grate and picnic table(s). The campsites are both cozy enough for 2 or spacious enough for large groups and can easily accommodate a mix of RVs, camper vans and tents. From June to October the 100+ area open meadow is filled with horses grazing and galloping about (please don't pet or feed!) A four-seasons destination, the Ranch has year-round experiences with warm summers and snowy winters. An excellent basecamp, within close proximity to the lake, ski slopes, Pinnacles, hiking/biking and off-roading trails. After a day filled with adventure or ultimate relaxation, be sure to enjoy the breath-taking sunsets over the meadow. The evenings blanket guests with a sea of stars. Toast up some s’mores and warm up some hot-coco over a beautiful, crackling campfire. Remember the s’mores and always follow the “Leave No Trace” principles. There are large trash bins by the entrance. We look forward to hosting you at the Ranch! Please note: OHV’s are allowed. They count as one of the allowed vehicles per campsite and must adhere to the speed limit (10mph) and remain on established camp roads while on the property. They may not be driven from 8pm to 8am. It is strictly forbidden to ride your vehicles through the forest, meadow or off any established roads on or off property. Please research which of the surrounding forestry roads allow for your vehicle type to be driven on. Campsites on the west side of the meadow (F, G & H sites) are partially accessed by a forestry road that does not allow dirt bikes. Horses: The horses which may be roaming the meadow during your stay are not property of Holcomb Valley Ranch. When horses are present, guests and their pets are prohibited from entering the meadow. It's so nice to "meet you" my name is Taryn and my hubby's name is Anson. We are parents to two-year-old twins, so saying we have our hands full is an understatement. Anson is a folk and blues musician and has traveled all around the U.S. playing his music and I work for a children's book company. One day, we decided that we wanted to live the rest of our lives hosting live music, and events and that's how Rock & Tree began. As the idea grew, we wanted to create an Open Canvas so that the guest could dream up what they wanted on our stage. We moved to the Inland Empire from Santa Monica, in 2017 with the dream of building an open canvas event space out of sustainable, re purposed and natural materials. Our mission is help enrich the culture of Perris, CA by providing a unique venue that takes you away from the hustle and bustle and takes you to a wonderland of nature surrounded by rocks and eucalyptus trees. Anson and I continue to build everything ourselves with the help of our friends and family every now and again. Our process is that we source as much lumber using the dead Eucalyptus trees we have here on the 36 acre property and we are constantly trying to come up with innovative ways to use recycled and donated materials in the venue. During the pandemic, we turned our venue into a campground so we could open up the venue to people who needed to get out into nature. We are now open for daily camping and private events. Cold Creek is a unique 112-acre property in the San Bernardino National Forest. Because of its location in a 3,200 foot elevation, it's colder than the Southern California deserts and warmer than the cold mountains above us. Our temperatures rarely exceed 90F and rarely drop below 40F. We have plenty sun and about two to three days of snow every winter. A year-around creek keeps everything green and fresh around the year. We are the second owners since 1913, and operate a small organic orchard on the property. We are most famous for our honey, peaches and figs, but also grow apples, pears, persimmon, blackberries, greens, bay leaf, white sage and more.For years , we were WWOOF hosts (look it up ;-) and resisted opening up Cold Creek to traffic associated with daily camping arrivals, but we finally found the perfect spots for visitors to park their RVs, spend a quiet night and visit the orchard by foot.We are now excited by the prospect of focusing on expanding our micro-farming and inviting campers to look over our shoulders.

OUR STORY Our farm story began in 2018, when on a whim and a prayer we purchased a rundown home and land. After years of acquiring many blisters, animals, plants and weird suntans, we eventually created the home and farm of our dreams. Our emphasis in the beginning of this journey was to create a space in which our children (along with ourselves) learned the value of producing our own food, fiber, meat and eggs. We challenged ourselves to learn sustainable and organic farming practices, and the emphasis soon changed to how can we share this journey and all that we have learned with more than just our children. So…..here we are, sharing our hard work and ambition with you. For now, this ambition is in the form of HomeMade Jams, Jellies, Teas, Seasonings and Confections that is procured from our own organically grown gardens and trees along with HandMade fiber creations from our small Alpaca herd. I would like to be able to say that we grew everything that goes into our ingredients, but we are not that good at everything yet! So to keep in the spirit of ethical sustainability along with ensuring a high quality and great tasting product, we purchase ingredients from local organic farmers and shelf products that not only have the USDA Organic seal, but are non-GMO, ethically harvested and in some cases certified Kosher. One day we hope to meet you and share our story with you by introducing you to the fruit trees my father grew from seed and let you feel the soft fiber of our eclectic herd of misfit Alpacas while you watch the glorious Southern California sunset touch the hot desert horizon we call home.
