We loved Little B cabin at Balsam Farm. What a unique urban farm experience. The location is so convenient for red rocks, and Mile High and downtown, and for quick mountain access too. Weekend Trip to Tiny House Glamping

Weekend Trip to Rocky Mountain Glamping

Holy smokes what a perfect place! Only an hour from Denver and yet it feels like you’re away from everything! All details and amenities are accounted for - from the darling tent with a four-poster bed and flannel sheets to the fabulous outdoor kitchen - fully stocked with everything you need and the cutest lights. The outdoor is a good time. Games like bean toss and axe throwing are available - plus darling spots to shut and have a coffee or watch the views. Definitely take a plunge in the river and lay out in the sun after. The hike to see wildflowers is wonderful. What a wonderful way to spend a weekend!

Dot and Byron have created a magical retreat in the woods. Our site was incredibly comfortable and beautiful. We loved the hot shower and exploring the property with our three year old. We'll definitely be back!

Loved camping in the Viking Bell tent! Cozy and warm on cold nights with the wood stove. Awesome that we were able to use wood already chopped at the camp for the stove and the firepit. Cool nights didn't even need any fire...the bed was so comfortable! Firepit was accommodating and perfect, nice to have stumps and benches to sit around the campfire. Didn't hear hardly any cars coming up the road at night, it was very peaceful.

2 nights at Neverland/Camp Wilder

Stayed here for a long weekend in the mountains. Views and temps were great and the cabin felt private. Be careful to follow the directions to get there- Google maps alone can take you on some funky routes on the dirt roads nearby. Be aware the land surrounding the cabin is quite sloped, and you’ll have to climb a metal utility ladder ten feet up to get to the loft - that might not be for everyone.

This was absolutely my FAVORITE place I’ve ever camped, and I’ve camped in a lot of places!!! All aspects of the land, the facilities and the wagons were so meticulously thought out and maintained. You could feel the labor and love Dot and Byron put into building this sanctuary. The only thing that was wrong was that I had to leave!! I’ve told everybody who asked about my trip that visiting Bliss Camp is a MUST! I can’t wait to return!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Beautiful beautiful building nestled on top of a mountain. Every staff member was so wonderful and very accommodating!! I am so glad we chose Dao House as our base camp for our hiking trip. They have local guidebooks that were very helpful as well. They even have their own trails on the property with great views and wildlife! What a hidden gem!

We loved our stay here with our two little boys. The tree house was just a little warmer than our tent with a space heater if it got too cold. The small stream was so nice to listen to while falling asleep. (And made putting out the fire easy). There was a beautiful hike filled with wild flowers in June. The trail head was a short walk down the road. Appreciated ample water and firewood as well!

Weekend Trip to Laughing Valley Retreat

We absolutely loved this spot! Bill is an amazing host, and the tent is organized and designed so well - you can tell a lot of thought has gone into making this an incredibly easy stay for guests. There are beautiful views including several 14ers from the site and I can’t believe how close it is to Denver but so peaceful and remote. Definitely hope to stay again!

Dot made sure that we were well taken care of when we first arrived . We stayed in the Shimza shepherds hut and the bed was very comfortable. I want to come back every year - this place was amazing

Weekend Trip to Little Red Barn at Forever Ranch

Incredible spot 10/10!! The land is gorgeous with horses walking right up to the porch. A view of the valley and mountains. The hosts are fantastic, they baked us muffins and cookies and were extremely responsive. We came with our 2yo daughter and she couldn’t be more excited to watch the horses and play outside. There is a playground, a deck with tons of space and the barn was more than big enough for all of us. Plus, Mary brought over toys for us. Nederland is just 10 minutes away and has lots of restaurants and a grocery store. Lots of hikes nearby as well. Couldn’t recommend more, we will be back.

Stroll on over to the South or Middle for renowned fly fishing. For climbers, there are over 50 climbs in South Saint Vrain Canyon! Dark Skies: If you like to watch the stars and meteor showers, Bliss Canyon is blessed with dark skies with little light from the plains. Bring your telescopes and explore the Universe. Rocky Mountain National Park, one of the five Crown Jewels of the National Park Service, is nearby. The closest trailhead in RMNP is 10 miles, the next trailhead at Wild Basin entrance to the park is 13 miles, and the Beaver Meadows entrance (main entrance) is 36 miles. Rocky Mountain National Park has breathtaking drives, easy strolls with interpretive signs, and 360 miles of trails. (Advance reservation required for entry 9:00 am to 3:00 pm for main park, or 5:00 am to 6:00 pm for Bear Lake corridor.) Indian Peaks Wilderness also has several nearby access points and trailheads. Ask Dot for details. The charming town of Lyons is 20 minutes away with coffee shops, restaurants, bars, lots of great live music, and quaint shops. Also, Spirit Hound Distillery received the award for the #1, Best Whiskey in the World in 2022, hmmm, it might be worth a tasting! Due to our popularity reservations often fill up quickly. We suggest you make your reservations in advance especially if you have a group to rent the entire camp. At times there are last minute cancelations which allows for last minute openings. Welcome to Camp Wilder! We are an off-the-beaten-path camp offering peace and solitude. The cabin is very special to my family and me. It was passed down as a mining claim from my grandmother who founded it in the '60s. The vision for the land was simply perfect. A small 10 x 10 cabin with the whole mountain to explore and whoever they wished to bring with them. The town of Nederland is 10 minutes down the road where you can fish at Baker Reservoir. Lots of fun little stores in town to keep the family busy. Wildlife is everywhere up by the cabin/campsite, always remember don't leave food lying around with lots of great things to look for around the magical town of Nederland. The cabin sleeps up to 8 with the futon downstairs being very comfortable and 3" foam upstairs in the loft for more sleeping area. Bring your sleeping bags to stay cozy at night. There are lanterns inside to light up your night with a wood stove to keep you warm at night. The ground around it is sloped so you may have a hard time setting up any tents around the cabin. The grocery store is in Nederland where you can buy food, Coleman green propane bottles, gallon jugs of water and wood. There is a 3 burner Coleman, stove to cook on with limited pots & pans as well as silverware. Road disclaimer, the road to the cabin is one lane dirt road. The drive up to the cabin is pretty good but the turn onto the single dirt road to the cabin has a slight dip, if you have a low-clearance car it may bottom out when you are turning so be careful. No Trailers. They will not be able to turn around once there. Recommend vehicles with AWD. Go 3.4 miles up Caribou road. Turn right @ yellow stakes go .4 miles. Park on the left. Hike down to the cabin between yellow stakes. We are @ 10,000 feet and it is a slight hike to the cabin. Go 3.4 miles up Caribou road. Turn right @ yellow stakes go .4 miles When leaving please make sure both door locks are locked, put the key in the lock box and mix the code for the next camper.

In the mountains just off of I-70, is this cozy little bell tent hiding in the trees. You'll have furs and a toasty stove to sip your morning coffee by in the seclusion of your tent. There's also a large fire pit with seating to eat your dinner by perhaps, and maybe chat with other travelers who are staying on the property. The fire pit is between your tent and another, and for shared use with other guests. At nearly 9,000 ft elevation, we get some gusty winds and unpredictable weather, but the wood burning stove provides a very warm and toasty atmosphere inside, and a rain fly over the tent provides a bit more insulation for keeping heat in at night, and holds it down in the winds quite well. Nestled between two hills on either side, and just feet away from a creek that flows through the spring and early summer, it can feel very secluded, but you are actually just off the road and only about 10 minutes from the town of Idaho Springs. The surrounding aspens and pines are quite magical, just be sure to read our note in the tent about our property boundary. Nearby St Mary's Glacier is a very popular spot, and there are loads of hiking and biking trails nearby. As mentioned before, the tent is just off of the road so you will hear the occasional car driving by, otherwise it's very quiet. There is a composting toilet and a private "toilet tent" on site. No power, just good old fashioned wood burning stove and a plethora of battery powered candles and lanterns. You'll need 4/AWD from about October through April, as we're off of a dirt road. You're in the mountains folks, so bears and moose have been seen on occasion. Please pack out all food and garbage. Drinking water and firewood provided.
