What a wonderful camping experience! You will not find more gracious hosts than Steve and Ann. Their land is beautiful, and you can see how thoughtfully and intentionally they manage it. Steve was kind enough to share about his mushroom operation, which was fascinating for everyone, including our four-year-old. Our experience was peaceful, relaxing, and inspiring. We hope to return to Hawk Meadow someday soon, and we will never forget our experience there!

Beautiful place! All the sites seem great, and when I arrived Ken (the host) called me to say I could move from the one I had reserved, to one that was right on the water. Very kind, and I really enjoyed the site. Stayed for two very peaceful days. There were also clean bathrooms and showers a two minute walk from my site. Will definitely be back.

1 night at Tryals Park Camp & Obstacle Course

My wife and I are on a 3 week trip with our dog. We intended on sleeping in a tent every night. This trip was to be as close to Nature as possible. Last night we just couldn't bear the thought of another 'wet tent' night and we landed here. So happy we did. The description is pretty spot on. It's a primitive shell that's been gussied up nicely. Was comfy and we loved that this more comfortable-and DRY departure from our tenting- didn't ruin our goal of being close to Nature-we still totally were. Morning was spectacular. Bird sounds greeted us. A Robin's nest (3 babies) above the toilet tent. Goose family -9-gently floating on the pond. Turtles climbing onto the raft after the storm. Bull Frogs serenading. Laurel showed us a small area (she had fenced in yesterday) on the hill below the barn- where she thought a painted turtle had laid her eggs. She also recounted a funny story of a handyman (in the past) who was found returning turtles to the pond- assuming they had lost their way. Imagine frustration for Mama turtle after that (well-intentioned misguided) good deed! And the faint scent of the Locust blossoms was "Just Lovely" according to my wife. Our off-leash four legged travel companion loved it too and my only regret is that we don't have more time to spend here. Hospitality and feeling of "make yourself at home" was high here. If "the right camper finds it heaven here" as per the description of the Barn...then we were the right campers. Highly recommend

Great little campsite! They have tent and RV sites. Hosts were very friendly. The goats were adorable. The piggy too! Convenient distance from CMAC if you're going to see a concert. Just remember to come back quietly and be respectful of the property. This was a nice quiet location other than a little bit of road noise from 5/20 but that diminished overnight

This was a fantastic place. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful the sites were well kept and there was plenty of beautiful property. Our daughter loved the zip line and the animals. We would definitely come again! Situated in a great place for all the Finger Lakes attractions.

We had to leave a sketchy Hipcamp situation and looked for the closest one we could afford. Crazy Goats delivered. It was a last minute booking but Karen and her husband got right to work making sure the site was ready for us! They were so kind and helpful. Our 8yo daughter fell in love with the goats, the pig, their dog Julio and the zip line. 🥰 There is a small camp bathroom with a shower. The shower’s hot water wasn’t working when we stayed (small problem), but he was working to get it fixed. They gave us privacy, but were available for questions. We were thankful to find this place and will stay again.

Weekend Trip to Tryals Park Camp & Obstacle Course

Everything was last minute about deciding to go on this adventure- including signing up with HipCamp. So glad we did! We felt so welcome at the Tryals Park along with our little dog. We walked around the pond and property and felt very at home there. We took some advantage of the Obstacle Course- walking and climbing (a little, lol) on the rocks and logs. We actually felt like kids again. We really enjoyed watching Mike give instruction to a couple of riders on Sunday. The whole two days were just what the Dr. ordered for a relaxing stay away from the demands of home. We'll be back. Thanks Mike & Laurel for a great time.

WE ARE BOTH PRO CANADA AND LGBTQ supportive :) Were also just 12 min across town to Cornell University and Ithaca College and 5-20 minutes from numerous amazing waterfalls. The available half bathroom is in the main house, just seconds from the cabin and is open to use 24 hrs. there is Not a shower in it, but you can wash up with hot water and soap, hand towels available as needed. if your staying multiple nights and would like to use the shower just let us know and well work out a time. The bunkhouse has 2 twin mattresses in the loft, and several blankets & pillows, but you need to BRING YOUR OWN SHEETS and pillow CASES as you wish. There is good A/C! Firewood is $5 per fire, starters materials included, marshmallows are in the end table drawer! You can select the campfire wood option here or pay in cash in the cabin. Bring your own fire wood and pay nothing. If you need any help starting a fire, we can do that. We have a sweet fluffy orange cat who roams the property. His name is kitty kitty :) He's fearful of dogs, and is wary of visitors since they might be harboring one! If you have a pup with you, please keep them leashed at least around the main house and cabin. We are also have a very sweet dog, Beya-- ( Bay-yuh). She is the nicest person you'd hope to meet. She may bark a little the first time you come in to use the bathroom but she's just letting us know you have arrived- and will be very happy to have you greet her. Our modest forest farm is nearly half-way between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes in the Finger Lakes area of New York. We offer a small, quiet walk-in campsite in our 2-acre private forest. Upon entering into the site you'll find yourself in a calming plot of mature pine, oak, and cherry trees where a variety of species of songbirds and a family of hawks have found a home. Parking on the property is a very short accessible walk from the tent site. There is a fire pit at the site and guests may access our personal kitchen garden for greens and veggies. A private bathroom and shower with free laundry (yes, I said free laundry!) and drinking water is available for use by guests in the main house. Wheelchair users will need a ramp in order to access the main house; we don't have one at this time, unfortunately.Our site is a great location to serve as an affordable hub for experiencing all that Cayuga and Seneca Lakes have to offer. In addition to being surrounded by wine country, we're located in what's known as the Emerald Necklace: an arc of more than 50,000 acres of conserved land abound with ways to spend time in nature. We are just a 5 minute drive or 20 minute bike ride from the small town of Trumansburg, home to the Tompkins County Fairgrounds (where Finger Lakes Grassroots Festival is held) and some of the best local waterfall swimming holes, to which we can give you detailed directions. Taughannock Falls State Park, Finger Lakes National Forest, and the Seneca Lake Wine Trail are all within a short drive or bike ride from the site. A 20 minute drive east will bring you to downtown Ithaca, where you can visit the renowned Ithaca Farmer's Market, Cornell University, Six Mile Creek, and plenty of bars and restaurants. Ithaca is also home to series of serene swimming holes at the base of waterfalls where locals and visitors relax during the summer. If you choose to go west you'll end up in Watkins Glen where you can check out the 200-foot cliffs and 19 waterfalls of the dreamlike landscape at Watkins Glen State Park, known as one of the best state parks in the U.S.We are both very experienced backpackers, cyclists, and bikepackers. Kimberly is a bike organizer and routemaker who runs Radical Adventure Riders Finger Lakes, a community for BIPOC and FTWN-B (femme, trans*, women, non-binary) bikepackers. She's happy to provide guidance on road, gravel, and mountain biking in the area and share her library of local bike routes. We have a work stand and tools available to fix any small issue you might have on your bike as well. We can also tell you about the hiking, backpacking and cross country skiing in the local area, much of which can be accessed by a 10 minute drive to Finger Lakes National Forest.We ask that those who stay on their property please respect the space and the land. We have a small, delicate ecosystem with newly-planted fruit trees and shrubs, so please minimize your impact on existing vegetation, trees, and soil. 2 RV sites tucked away on a paved county road 3 miles off of Route 414 in Lodi, NY. These sites are close to the NY State Wine Trail with the closest winery a 10 min drive away. Lodi Point State Park is also 5 miles away with public access to Seneca lake. Lodi Point features a boat launch, nice playgrounds and swimming areas. As we are located in beautiful Fingerlakes, you can also find many other state parks including Sampson, Watkins Glen, Hector and Taughannock, all within a short drive. Taughannock Falls is a must see with its 215 foot plunge waterfalls. Each of our RV sites has a 16ft x 45ft stone pad and full electric hook ups with a 110v 20 amp, 30 amp, and 50 amp service. A picnic table and campfire ring are on each site, but there are no water or sewage hook ups available. There is no bathroom on site, you must bring your own. Sampson State Park is the nearest dump station. If you’re Looking for a quiet spot to spend a night or two, this is place for you.

Perfect get-away for humans and their four-legged friends, it's a dog's dream vacation spot. Enjoy a week or weekend, or your vacation in a place where the "noise" is the melodious sounds of nature. It is remote enough to completely break from urban life, yet close enough to Ithaca, NY to enjoy its beauty and attractions. Amenities: outhouse, hand water pump, two-seater outhouse, propane grill, some pots and pans, grill utensils, wood stoves, private, gated entrance, pond, trails. Plan ahead, we do not plow the driveway in winter; plan to shovel an off-road parking space, and transport your gear up to the cabin (1100'). Wood is provided. Onsite: water pump, 2-seat outhouse, wood stove, campfire ring, wood, & propane grill. Exclusive access for nature hikes, streams, forest, pond, swimming, bird watching, star gazing, etc. A wheelchair that can navigate grass and some ruts can enter the cabin, but not the outhouse, and the sleeping loft is up stairs (there is room for a cot or mattress on the first floor); the porch is accessible through the cabin. When you book, you are confirming your understanding of the following: there is no electricity, running water, or std. bed/mattresses. You bring own air mattress, bedding, and gear you will need. All-wheel drive vehicle is recommended. We welcome special events, family reunions, or weddings, if your plans do not require utilities (you may bring a generator or other battery operated items, as needed). Note for winter guests: We do not plow the driveway in winter, you need to be ready to shovel an off-road parking spot, and transport gear to cabin (e.g. by sled, snowshoes) Here's a brief list of the basics to bring: Light source: Lantern propane or battery. Air mattress or cot and whatever bedding you need. Paper products (cups, plates, utensils, toilet paper, etc.) Matches/fire starter (there is wood on-site, and a propane grill for cooking that has a self-starter). Bug spray. Cooler and ice. Lawn chairs. There are a few tables, several chairs and benches. There are 2 picnic tables (one outside and one inside). The benches can be moved outside if you'd like, just move them back inside before you leave. The propane grill should only be used outside. There is a hand axe in the cabin to shave kindling, and the wood is already split to be the length for the wood stove, as needed. Gas: 5 miles away. If you plan to grocery shop when you get to the area, the closest store is at East Hill Plaza in Ithaca, about 9 miles past where the cabin is (I can give you all that info if you like). There is lots to explore/see/do in the Ithaca area if you decide to come down off the hill one of the days. I'll have some brochures and things in the cabin, and can answer questions (aka where is the best ice cream, dinner, etc.).

This property is also in close proximity to the east side of the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail and there are a variety of breweries to access if that is your thing (Summerhill Brewing, Homer Hops, and Owasco Lake Brewing). If you want to stay on the property, there are a few miles of trails you can walk on (they are ATV/service roads), a sunset viewing spot, a small stream to soak your feet and smells of the forest.

Camping near Syracuse guide

Overview

Sitting on the thumb of the Finger Lakes, Salt City is a gateway to the awesome nature of upstate New York. Syracuse is roughly halfway between Niagara Falls and the Adirondacks for easy side trips. But this small city has its own claim on natural beauty with lakes, forests, and farms. The New York State Fair sets up its tents here, covering the 375-acre grounds with horse shows, butter sculptures, and deep-fried Oreos.

Winter brings snow--and lots of it. Locals grumble, but the deep white makes for killer cross-country skiing. Highland Forest park bills itself as the Adirondacks of Central New York with 40 miles of trails, half of them groomed. Beaver Lake Nature Center boasts a warming hut and snow-shoe rentals.

The closest public camp is Green Lakes State Park in Fayetteville. Two emerald-green glacial lakes are its centerpiece, where you can rent a rowboat or swim off the sandy beach. Tent camping is set back from the lakes amid pine trees, with options for cabins and RV camping. There's also an 18-hole course by Robert Trent Jones, a legendary golf course architect.

The old Erie Canal passes right by Green Lakes. The canal turned Syracuse into a thriving city. At the Erie Canal Museum in downtown Syracuse, visitors can go deep on its history.

Today, kayakers have free rein in the canal's retired sections. Try launching in Dewitt at Cedar Bay Park, then paddle 10 miles to the Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum. The route is especially scenic in autumn when the turning leaves are a blazing canopy on the shore.

The Finger Lakes are close by, and Cayuga Lake State Park makes a good home base to dip in your toes. The park campground has cabins near the shore and hilltop tent sites. Boat launches are on the beach, and the waters are quite good for catching largemouth bass. Over a dozen vineyards and wineries are a short drive away.

Most state park campgrounds will accommodate trailers, but big rigs wanting full hook-ups should check out RV parks in the area. Several offer extra amenities such as free Wi-Fi, swimming, and boat launches.
