Cabin and Tent Camping On The River

2 sites · Tents14 acres · Morrow, OH
Pack your essentials and escape to the Little Miami River Valley's best kept secret. Our off-grid cabin and tent campsite is situated on 14 acres along the National and Scenic Little Miami River. The cabin is included in the site rental, offering the flexibility to bring your own mattress/bedding or have it provided as an add-on. Once here, you'll park near the farmhouse and take a 4 minute hike over the creek, through the meadow, and into the woods. *Driving to the site is an option if you have 4WD and the ground is not too wet. Exceptions for 2WD can be made if the weather forecast and ground conditions permit. As you approach the cabin and campsite, the trail opens up to an acre of green space shaded by large Sycamore, Walnut, and other native trees. Take a dip in the river, enjoy people watching as canoeist pass, or take part with a canoe or kayak rental from a nearby business (within 3 miles). The Little Miami Trail is also less than a mile down the road so bring your bike! The composting outhouse is serviced between each stay, meaning it's emptied, sanitized, and like new for each new guest. *Depending on your group size, the host may need to service/empty the outhouse once daily. There are two established campfire locations and a picnic table is provided. *This is a family residence. The hosts live onsite and although you will not see them from your site, you will likely hear kids/adults playing outside and possibly weekend tasks such as mowing/weed eating/etc. Other "noise pollution" may come from canoeists passing by or the gun/ATV riding club which is a 1/4 mile down the river. That said, overall it remains rather quiet and you should find your stay peaceful : ) Add-ons include: - Mattress/mattress protector/fitted sheet ($30) - Mattress with full bedding (+flat sheet/comforter/pillows) ($50) - Small table top propane grill ($15) - Tent rental/setup ($30) - Firewood ($10/bundle) (roughly 10 pieces/bundle) - Life jacket ($5/each) - River tube and 1 life jacket ($10) - Hybrid stand-up paddle board/kayak and 1 life jacket ($20) - Canoe with paddles and 2 life jackets ($20) - Mountain bike ($20)

Ohio River experience

3 sites · RVs, Tents2 acres · OH
California, Ohio is a community on the Ohio River about a twenty minute drive upstream from Cincinnati. Actually the eastern-most neighborhood of Cincinnati, it has it's own small town or quaint village atmosphere. Safe, flat, scenic and walkable, California boasts several dining experiences, one a brewery, and quite a variety of recreational experiences. Riverbend, a music venue in season, is a mile away, possible walking distance, as is Belterra, a race track and casino. The bike trail is a few blocks away and connects to all the other area bike trails including the Loveland Bike Trail along the Wild and Scenic Little Miami River. A local nature preserve, California Woods, offers hiking and nature programs, and there is even the California Golf Course. If watching baseball leagues play games is your cup of tea, there is a large sports complex with ball fields in California. A town park with trees and large, grassy open spaces and small playground is a few blocks away. Bring your game of horse shoes, corn hole, a frisbee to throw, your skateboard, golf cart, or some bikes just to cruise around and take in the scenery. Nearby, and right the Wild and Scenic Little Miami River is Armleder Park, also with walking and biking trails which also connect to the 5 mile loop around Lunken Airport. I have two properties which offer two different kinds of camping, which I have itemized separately in the Hipcamp listings. RV Campers will park on the upper level at the Panama Street address , and have one set of amenities. It is a short walk lead down to the Ohio River where there is a small patio with table and chairs overlooking the river. Tent campers set up their tents right beside the river and have a different set of amenities, as itemized on this website. It's an unusual set up, as perhaps Hipcamper spots often are. It is interesting and relaxing to watch the barges and pleasure boats go by. On one hand I feel like I am in the middle of nowhere when I am on these (small, very not fancy) properties by the river. On the other, there are planes, trains, barges and pleasure boats, and motorcycles passing by at times. The River can be mesmerizing and serene, shimmering in the western sun, or busy with weekend pleasure boats and barge traffic. Take a walk around town, then sit by the river and watch the boats go by. Relax, set up your grill and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Ohio River. Perfect for river rats. Downtown Cincinnati is 15 or 20 minutes away with no traffic, and there are two or three ways to get there. There is a lot to do in Cincinnati. My place in California is just a few minutes from the I 275 exit.

Rocky Run Creek is a tributary to Seven Mile Creek in Preble County, OH Small creek near residential area. Choice of wide open spaces, partial or full shade spots available. Short walking trail along the creek line is maintained. 'Rocky Cross' Geocach nearby. Please be aware that if we have had a lot of rain, the creek side spots may be too wet and difficult to get back up the hill with the wet grass.  If this is the case, we do have the gravel barn driveway that can accommodate your stay. During peak busy season, the barn drive may have additional guests due to site, weather or general camping conditions. The barn drive offers a view of the creek area about 100 feet away and is about 175 feet from the patio common area. WiFi covering the entire camp and all cellular carriers work great here. 30 Amp electrical in many spots. White tank water fill is available in select locations. Plenty of room for tow vehicle at your camp site. Pet policy: Dogs / pets are certainly welcome subject to the following: No destructive behaviors. (Digging, chewing, etc) No aggressive behaviors. (Toward anyone at any time) Please consider that other guests may be present. As of 5/1/24, a new overflow RV spot has been added with 30A electrical. As of 5/1/24, Premium WiFi is now available for additional $5 / day with fast WiFi speeds for working remotely. Just mention you would like the details on the premium WiFi upon arrival! **Please read the following travel safety advisories** =================================================== ! ROUTE RESTRICTIONS ! ( State Route 127, Eaton and South) If traveling here from the South (only on Ohio State Route 127), please note the height restrictions on three roads that connect SR 127 with the parallel Wayne Trace Road. The names of the roads to avoid: Consolidated (Height restriction 9' 9" under the railroad) Brower (Height restriction 10' 0" over Seven Mile Creek) 7 Mile Road (Height restriction 10' 6" and very sharp turn to bridge) Please watch what route electronic devices may may pick avoiding these routes. A suggested route from traveling North on State Route 127 to Camp Rocky Run is to turn in Camden, OH on State Route 725 and head East to Wayne Trace Road. !! NOTE on RV types !! You must have a self contained RV with on board restroom facilities. We have no restroom facilities available. For this reason, we do not offer tent camping.   !! NOTE on camp fire location !! The fire ring provided on the shared creek side patio is the only spot a camp fire, of any kind, can be built. (Sorry, but we have had too many damaged spots in the grass from the use of 'portable' fire ring units.) !! NOTE on Class A RVs with towed vehicle !! If it is too wet to access the creek side spots, we can still accommodate your stay in the nearby barn driveway but if you are unable to back up with the 'toad' then a detach will be required. Again, this is only if it is too wet to access the creek side camp spots. Generally we will be able to help you back in, but at times we may be away and suggest a helper in guiding you into the barn drive. Note, the barn driveway is not a pull through site.
