Weekend Trip to Gypsy’s Cottage

Russell is gypsy king! The home is perfectly designed and so thoughtful. The bath is cozy and sweet and a sunset soak only adds to the magic of the property. Amazing stay, beautiful location, great host. Would highly recommend to anyone.

3 nights at Cedar Canyon RV Retreat

The Cowboy Cabin was perfect for our weekend gateway in Utah! The cabin was clean and bathrooms were close. The TV did not work for us, but we didn't go to watch television. Very quiet and nicely kept campground with a very friendly host, Rachel. Cedar City had a cute coffee shop, farmers market on Saturday and a few trails. Only a 1.5 hour drive to the main entrance of Zion National Park.

1 night at Gypsy’s Cottage

Coolest Hipcamp of our cross country trip for sure. The host put a lot of care into making it comfortable and interesting. Was perfect for our transit from Grand Canyon to Zion. The host Russell went out of his way for us, even took time to mail us a hat we accidentally left behind. Great guy!

2 nights at Zion Family Ranch Campground and RV

This camp ground was beautiful! We got to pitch our tent right beside the lake, underneath a tree, and it was absolutely gorgeous. As expected, it got cold at night, but the first night I was actually able to sleep under the stars, which was so magical and lovely. We had fun on the lake. My five year old nephew learned how to paddle his own kayak and he was obsessed with it. The bathrooms were very clean and stocked the majority of the time (no paper towels the first day, no soap in one of the bathrooms the entire time we were there, but good otherwise!) The only other complaint we had was that we had no idea how close we were going to be to the highway. That was pretty noisy, as well as the ranch across the road, which had some animals that were very loud throughout the nights.

I love coming to Zion Family Ranch. It’s a beautiful spot with a pavilion for sitting and looking out over the beautiful pond, hills, clouds and sky, eating meals, and getting to know other campers. We tent-camped and kayaked in the pond. Our kids loved playing with the happy kids at the campsite next to ours. The bathrooms are very convenient and the potable water sink attached to the outside of the restroom was very helpful for washing our dishes (we cooked salmon, vegetables, and beef with our camp stove). Betty was very responsive to our concerns.

The atmosphere was so great here. The canoes on the lake are such an awesome touch and really bring home the camping vibe. Super cute and the bathhouses were great.

Great campsites right by the river. They have showers, bathrooms were clean, water at every campsite, good location between Bryce and Zion, hosts were really nice, loved staying there. Everything I would hope for! Totally recommended.

Desert Oasis Near Zion

Rest up in peace and quiet in this leafy, shady garden spot. Our place is an oasis in the desert and is admired by all visitors as the most lush, cool spot in Cane Beds. The surrounding vermillion cliffs match the adobe walls of this charming cottage. This unique cottage is a rare example of an earth dwelling. Built about 30 years ago with adobe red clay, sand and straw, it is modernized and recently renovated. You will see two examples of the application of the adobe method in this building. If you have pets you must add them under EXTRAS. We have it listed under EXPERIENCES and we charge $25 cleaning fee per visit. The way Hipcamp has us do this is not very well done, it's a bit clunky. But Just select one pet if you are staying shorter than a month, two pets if a month or longer. It is not a fee per pet, or per guest, it is per visit. So if you have two pets and are staying a week then select for only one pet. Just let us know how many pets (and what kind) to expect. Message us with any questions. Dogs will have to be on leash when outside since we have a number of cats and even though your dog may not chase them, the cats would certainly be a bit freaked out. Also it's possible that your pet could get out onto the road which has claimed several of my kitties. Please know if your dog will be OK watching the kitties through the windows or when outside. We are within reach of several National Parks and other scenic sights for a day trip, including North Rim Grand Canyon, ZION, Bryce, Coral Pink Sand Dunes State park, Pipe Spring National Monument, Grand Staircase Escalante National Reserve and on and on. All around is breathtaking beauty and many easy hikes and mind-blowing vistas just in the neighborhood! Just to note, there is only 1 bedroom with a queen bed. With notice we can bring in a camp bed, or you can set up your tent on the lawn for extra guests or children.

We renovated our camps to provide a comfortable glamping space to those who want a one-of-a-kind experience in the backcountry. One of our best features is the solitude and exposure to Mother Nature. These sites provide the ultimate experience for those willing to go off the grid, off the main road, and into the backcountry. This space is where the tourist crowds disappear and the rugged, raw beauty appears. As the crow flies, the property is just over three miles from the east boundary of Zion National Park. This land is where our family calls home and has been in the Lundgren family for four generations. It is still used for agriculture purposes today. In early June, you may see sheep grazing in the nearby meadows and mid-to-late summer, cows roam the area adding to the uniqueness of the experience. This part of the country is home to textured red rock, blue skies, and numerous desert flora and fauna, making it an ideal spot for photographers.
