We have COMPLIMENTARY WiFi, Drinking Water, Ice, Hot Showers, Bathrooms, shaded common areas, and an equipped Camper's Kitchen for our guests to enjoy from April 15 - Oct 15! All of our sites and amenities can be booked for RETREATS or Special Events. There are two large covered Pavilions. We customize reservations for small and large groups or longer stays. The sites are well spaced out. There are furnished TIPIS, CAMPING CABINS, TENT/VAN/RV and BOONDOCK SITES. WE ALSO HAVE A NAVAJO HOGAN (wooden yurt) OPEN-YEAR ROUND. Our large covered group or meeting site is called The Chapel. Bright Star Campground: Established in 2012 as a church camp, it is now a Campground for all to enjoy! We are a perfectly located vacation campground on 20 acres with amenities and wide-open spaces. Amenities include hot showers, an equipped community kitchen, a pavilion with hammocks, tables, ping pong, etc. Enjoy complimentary coffee, filtered drinking water, ice and more. Bright Star Campground is located in the Great Sage Plain in the shadow of Mesa Verde National Park with panoramic mountain/mesa views of the Four Corners region, all only 5 miles southeast of Cortez. We are a cannabis-friendly destination but ask that Cannabis use stay at your campsite, cabin or tipi. There are many things to do/see nearby: Mesa Verde National Park, Canyons of the Ancients, Hovenweep National Monument and Phil's World Mountain Biking. Raft down the Dolores river, maybe rent a SUP or kayak and chill on a quiet reservoir. There are museums and cultural centers in the area as well. Durango is 45 min, Telluride is 1.5 hrs away, and Moab is ~2 hours away and includes Arches and Canyonlands National parks. The best/nearest airport is in Durango. Cortez has Denver Air (Key Lime Air) with connections to Denver and Phoenix. The nearest large international airports are in Salt Lake City or Albuquerque.

SUNRISE campsite enjoys all our amenities including a camp-kitchen and hot showers! Just 5 miles to Main Street, Cortez and 22 min to the entrance of Mesa Verde Nat'l Park. This shaded site has room to park campers/RVs up to 26’ next to the shade awning. 30 amp electric + a 110 and water on the grounds. Has nice views to Mesa Verde Nat'l Park and is closest to the bathrooms (not too close ;). Sunrise has a fire pit and picnic table. This is a campground with great amenities yet still rustic. Complimentary filtered drinking water, coffee, tea, cooking spices and ICE (not for filling chests or bottles over 1 gallon). Hot showers, Vault toilets have sinks with running water, and the central kitchen has everything you need to cook, hot plates and appliances, pots, utensils, large sink. There is also a fridge/freezer to use. See all the pictures! We provide dishes, you wash them, we provide the big sink, soap and hand towels.

Sitting in the shadow of Mesa Verde National Park's backside, enjoy 360 views! 5 miles from main street Cortez. Covered Tent/Van/Hammock site facing west. UTE VIEW #2 is named for its West view of the iconic Sleeping Ute Mountain. However, the views are 360 deg including Mesa Verde Nat'l Park to the East. A great site for Tents, Vans and RV's up to 27'. Tall 5th Wheels will NOT fit the turn. No hookups at this site but we have amenities. (our other UTE 2 site has water and 30 AMP, SUNRISE site has 30 AMP only) Bright Star Campground is just 5 miles from Main St, Cortez Colorado, and 22 minutes to the entrance of Mesa Verde Nat'l Park. The following are included and COMPLIMENTARY to our campers: WIFI KITCHEN: A community space equipped with drinking water, ice, dishes, appliances, a fridge/freezer, coffee, tea, spices, pots & utensils.. Dishwashing station, soaps & towels! HOT SHOWERS: 2 Shower houses with 6 stalls each VAULT TOILETS: The toilets are vault or "pit" but the sinks have running water COVERED PAVILION: Next to the Kitchen is a lrg community space, see pictures SWING SET: With small climbing structure Campsites include two people. There is an extra fee for up to five campers (per person). A sixth person under 6 yrs old is okay. No charge for guests under six, do not include them on the reservation. Looking at Mesa Verde Nat'l Park and just 5 mi to Main St., Cortez, UTE VIEW 1 is a beautiful site on a spacious campground with 30 amp, water hookups and Wifi. No sewer but we have hot showers, toilets, a full kitchen with wash station, cooking appliances, pots, dishes and more just steps away. It is wide and almost flat with panoramic mountain and mesa views. Ute View 1 is also close to the furnished pavilion for your use. Camp Kush is located in the Great Sage Plain in the shadow of Mesa Verde National Park with panoramic mountain/mesa views of the Four Corners region. We also have Tipis, camping cabins, bunkhouses, tent and vehicle sites, a community kitchen, vault toilets with sinks, running water and soap, and again, hot showers. Our sites are spread out and this is not a concrete RV Park, it is on a wide open 40 acre rural ranch, yet convenient to downtown Cortez! Views are of Mesa Verde National Park and surrounding Mountains and Mesas.

This is a large pull-through Full Hookup RV Pad, RV not included. 30 amp and 50 amp. It is only for full-size RV's, 5th Wheels and Travel Trailers that are self-contained. Large Vans are okay if they have a toilet onboard. We also have electric-only sites for smaller RV types on the campground, near bathrooms. The StarPad has strong Wifi, Propane Grill, Picnic Table and Fire Pan. This double-wide Mesa Verde view RV Pad is quiet and enjoys amenities from our campground yet is separated by .2 mi on the same 40-acre property. The Star Pad has big views and wide-open spaces yet just 5 miles from downtown Cortez. It sits behind the "Starhouse" vacation rental home, yet most of the activity there is on the front porch facing East, not in the back so you still feel private as you will face West. There is also a privacy wall fence between the house and RV Pad. The campground's amenities open MAY 20 in 2025 and are available to you, including hot showers, an equipped community kitchen, and Game Pavilion. Contact us at Bright Star Campground for larger group options combining multiple sites including tipis, tent and camping cabins, or the House. If you do not wish to be in ROWS of RVs and you want a scenic experience, this is for you! This site is not for 2 RV's such as 1 camper van + 1 C-class, it is for a single unit unless you contact us with details and approval. Check-in time ends at 10:00 pm. Thank you! Bright Star Campground is located in the shadow of Mesa Verde National Park with panoramic mountain/mesa views, just 5 miles from Cortez. We have lots of fun campground amenities! These private cabins are rustic camping cabins. The Toilets, hot showers and equipped camp-kitchen with water, ice, appliances, pots and dishes for guest's use are centrally located and SHARED by the campground. Juniper Cabin has a comfy queen bed that comes with a mattress pad and clean fitted sheet. BRING your own pillows, blankets and towels. (we have a different cabin that comes with full linens but this one, Juniper, is optional so you don't pay for what you do not need. These cabins have electricity and fans. They do not have AC or Heat and are not insulated (Summer nights are typically high 60's). The bathrooms, showers and kitchen are a short path walk away. The furnished pavilion also has a propane bbq grill and there is a firepit you can use for campfires. Take a day trip to Durango just 45 min drive, go to Sutcliff Winery for a tasting (25 min drive)There are several museums and cultural centers in the area as well. The road is paved until the last 1/4 mi. Any vehicle is fine but it can be bumpy on the last 1/4 mi. Durango is 45 min and Telluride is 1.5 hr drive. Moab is less than 2.5 hours away-including Arches and Canyonlands National parks. Phil's World Mountain Biking Trails is TEN MINUTES away. The best/nearest airport is in Durango (airport is 1 hr 15 min), and the nearest large international airports are in Albuquerque or Salt Lake City. However, Cortez Airport has options, see below. CORTEZ AIRPORT: 15 min to Bright Star---DENVER AIR or Key Lime Air for commercial flights to Denver International Airport and Phoenix Sky-Harbor International Airport. You can book a flight to Denver or Phoenix then a commuter on DENVER AIR to Cortez. The Durango Airport is 1.15 hrs drive and has many more options.

Enjoy beautiful 360 deg Sunsets and the Moon rising over Mesa Verde Nat'l Park! This is a premium 330 sf Tipi and our only one with an electric 110 inside. It is closest to the amenities. It is a "Glamping Tipi". It comes with a queen bed (either a tall air mattress or queen futon) and a clean fitted sheet only. NO other linens or pillows are included. You can rent linens with pillows and towels or bring your own. It has reclining chairs and a firepit. This is on a campground with amenities that include showers and a stocked kitchen to use. Twin sleeping pads can be added for kids (or padded cots can be requested, subject to availability) We have S sleeping Bag/Pillow/Towel setups (camper sets) available to rent, or Queen bedding sets w/towells ($15). Bright Star Campground has toilets, hot showers and an equipped kitchen to use. Complimentary coffee, filtered water, ice, and often farm-fresh eggs in the fridge. We are located on the Great Sage Plain in the shadow of Mesa Verde National Park with panoramic mountain/mesa views. It is just 5 miles southeast of Main St, Cortez. HOGAN (Wood Yurt) - Mesa Verde View

Enjoy a unique "glamping" experience while enjoying 360 degree fiery Southwest sunsets and the moon rising over Mesa Verde Nat'l Park. Just 5 mi from Main St., Cortez on a 40 acre Campground. This Navajo "Hogan" sits a little separate from the campground. It enjoys the campground's amenities (showers, kitchen, etc) during the main season (April 10 - Oct 15). It is "off-grid" so no electricity or running water inside but has a battery for the small things (lights, fan, charging) a small pump sink, and a private potty that is just a few steps away. The Hogan also has a wood-burning stove in the middle for those colder days/nights. The Hogan (pronounced: HO-GONE) is the Navajo name for these small roundhouses. There is a queen futon bed with linens and a cot with cozy sleeping bag/pillow for a 3rd person. Towels are included when the showers are open (April 10 - Oct 15). We do not recommend children under 9 in the cold months when the wood stove inside will be burning. This can also be a group site with two tents, vans or even a smaller RV (dry camping) added. Contact us for that option. This traditional Navajo roundhouse with a woodstove has all-season access. Solar power station allows for lighting and charging devices. No running water in the Hogan, but hot showers and kitchen are open in the adjacent campground from April 15 - Oct 15. The Hogan has a Small pump sink for conveniences like washing hands and brushing teeth. Firebans are common in Summer. When fire bans are lifted we can fire up the woodstove and outdoor firepit. Wood for the inside stove is included for your stay. We sell wood for the outside firepit. We are located in the Great Sage Plain in the shadow of Mesa Verde National Park with panoramic mountain/mesa views of the Four Corners region, all only 5 miles Southeast of Cortez. The Hogan is open year-round and does not have kitchen or shower access when temperatures drop below freezing (October 15 - April 15). April 15 - Oct 15 (Spring, Summer and early Fall). Showers are open! The campground KITCHEN is also open and stocked with everything you need to cook except the food. Includes filtered drinking water, ice and coffee. There is also a propane grill. FOR LATE FALL - EARLY SPRING: Enjoy the quiet off-season at Bright Star Campground, a winter wonderland! Sometimes snowy, bring your skis and snowshoes, 35+ acres will be open for exploration. Fires okay! SUMMER: Mid Summer days get hot but nights cool down to the 60’s. Hogans are octagon-shaped, set down into the earth with a *dirt floor* to take advantage of the constant temperature of the earth. rugs are added. Door is positioned toward the rising sun, the La Plata mountain range and Mesa Verde. Small windows to the North and South allow light in, no windows to west protect from the afternoon summer sun. Set on a Campground with amenities, Mustang Tipi is for those who want to look at the stars and take in the Southwest sunsets. It is camping w/extras and no need to bring camping gear. It has a Queen bed with full linens and 2 towels + 3 floor mattresses. We have a camper's kitchen stocked with pots, appliances, dishes, coffee, etc. Bring your food. We provide spices, coffee, oil, filtered drinking water, ice, dish soap, a fridge/freezer. We are just 5 mi from downtown Cortez and 22 min to the Mesa Verde Nat'l Park entrance. For the floor pads: Bring your own linens/sleeping bags or rent ours. This large 20' deluxe Tipi has solar lights, big rugs, a small battery fan w/light, a table and a trash can for convenience. It has nice outdoor reclining chairs (that can be brought inside) and a firepit. The base price includes 2 guests, it is $9 and $7 ea for additional guests, 5 max in this Tipi. You can only reserve it here for 1-7 people. Contact us for groups of 8 or more. We are "BRIGHT STAR CAMPGROUND" by Mesa Verde National Park. 5 miles from Downtown Cortez, Colorado . This Pavilion is fun for small camping groups or just one family! Be protected from the elements, have electricity, a community-equipped kitchen on the Campground, Hot Showers, etc. See our photos. IF YOUR RESERVATION IS FOR 1-7 CAMPERS, MAKE YOUR RESERVATION HERE! The Chapel can have up to 17 people camping under it with amazing views. It can be reserved for an event space while guests are staying at other Campsites, Cabins, Tipis or the Vacation House on the Campground. As an event space it has room for 50. On this campground there is an equipped KITCHEN for you to use. Complimentary drinking water, ice, coffee, tea, cooking spices, propane grill pots, utensils.. so bring your food! There is a pavilion connected to the kitchen with ping pong, fuse ball, darts, hammocks, sofas, picnic tables. It is shared by other campers here. If a group of guests are staying at 4 or more of our tent/RV/Camping Cabin or Tipi sites and wish to reserve this as an event space, it is only $39 a day. Events are only for guests staying on the grounds. The Chapel was once a Summer camp church, and has a stage, pulpit, electricity, colored and white Edison string lights.. and amazing views! It shares the same amenities as the other sites on the Campground. For up to 7 guests camping in the Chapel, the base price includes three campers and 1-4 additional campers are $10 each, per night. Dogs are allowed, up to 3 dogs for one $15 pet fee (not per day). The Chapel is the best dog site since it closes and they can run free in it. Do not leave dogs unattended. The sides are only 4' high. Some big dogs can jump over it. During the regular season we have private camping cabins, bunkhouses tipis, tent and RV boondock sites. We have a stocked community kitchen, a covered event space, vault toilets with sinks/running water and hot showers. Our dining Pavilion is furnished with picnic tables, hammocks, sofas, ping pong, fuseball, corn hole, and a propane grill to use. BrightStarCamoground is not a late-night party place. It is furnished with a King bed, Queen futon plus cots or floor pads. This is glamping so enjoy a very comfy camping experience without hauling gear! The camper's kitchen is stocked with pots, appliances, dishes, coffee, etc. Bring your food and enjoy our dining pavilion with tables and games. We provide spices, coffee, oil, filtered drinking water, ice, dish soap, a fridge/freezer.. so come sit under the stars even if you aren't prepared for the outdoors, we have you covered! SAGE: Bunk Cabin ~ near Mesa Verde

We are "BRIGHT STAR CAMPGROUND" on 40 acres just 5 mi from Cortez, CO, and looking up at Mesa Verde National Park. SAGE is a rustic bunkhouse on a friendly campground with amenities! It is NOT a shared bunkhouse (it's all yours) but you will share bathrooms, showers and a wonderful stocked campground kitchen with a fun pavilion attached. The base price includes 2 guests. 3-6 Additional guests are $10 each, per night. NO CHARGE for kids 5 yr and under. Do not include them on the reservation, but let us know in a message. Bunkhouses are basic shelter structures with electricity and fans. You bring your own bedding/linens or add "camper sets" for $10 in "extras". A clean sleeping bag, pillow and towel is a "CAMPER SET". Camping-Cabin Bunkhouses do not have heat or AC, but evenings cool down and in the day our furnished Pavilion is a shadier cooler option to relax. The Campground has Tent, furnished and unfurnished Tipis, and two RV sites with 30amp . The community kitchen is stocked with pots, dishes, spices, complimentary coffee, clean water and Ice. Shower Houses have hot water on demand! The Vault Toilets include sinks with running water. ~ For a more unique stay, there is also a traditional Navajo "HOGAN" tiny house (similar to a wood yurt) that is set more privately from the main campground. There are many things to do/see nearby: Mesa Verde National Park, Canyons of the Ancients, Hovenweep National Monument and Phil's World mountain biking. Raft down the Dolores river, maybe rent an SUP or kayak and chill on a quiet reservoir. There are several museums and cultural centers in the area as well. We are located just outside of Cortez. You really need a vehicle to get the full Colorado experience as public transportation is scarce...and the land, vast! However, we do have occasional groups on bicycles! Durango is 45 min and Telluride is 1.5 hr drive. Moab is 2 hours away-including Arches and Canyonlands National parks about 2.5 hrs. Phil's World Mountain Biking Trails is TEN MINUTES away.

ANASAZI TIPI is set on a campground with amenities. It is for those who want to look at the stars and take in the Southwest sunsets. It is camping w/extras. It has a tall Queen Air Mattress plus quality Futon and foam floor pads if needed. Tipis come with rugs, reclining camp chairs, etc! We have a camper's kitchen stocked with pots, appliances, a fridge/freezer, dishes, coffee, etc. Just bring your food. We provide spices, coffee, oil, filtered drinking water, ice, dish soap and a big sink to wash dishes. We are just 5 mi from downtown Cortez and 22 min to the Mesa Verde Nat'l Park entrance. Bring your own linens/sleeping bags OR rent ours for a "laundry fee". This large 20' deluxe Tipi has a portable solar light and a small battery fan w/light, a table and a trash can for convenience. There is a fire pit and chairs. The base price includes 2 guests. 5 max guests in this Tipi but if you have a 6th child under 6 yrs, that's okay, no charge! Extra guest fees per day are for the showers and other amenities on-site. Do not include kids 5 and under on the reservation, they are free. See all the photos of the Campground and the amenities. THIS IS "GLAMPING." It is camping made easy! SKY Cabin is a private "camping camping" with electricity, fans, but no AC. In the Summer the nights cool down as we are at 6100' "high plains/desert" BRIGHT STAR CAMPGROUND is just 5 miles from Main St. in Cortez and 22 minutes to the Mesa Verde entrance. It has 360 deg views spanning from Mesa Verde Nat'l Park, to Sleeping Ute Mountain. The Cabin shares the Campground's bathrooms, showers, kitchen and pavilion. Sky Cabin comes with a nice queen bed . Bring your own linens, or rent ours. There is also a wall of six bunks. The base nightly price includes 2 guests. Up to 5 additional guests are $10 each per night. Children under 6 yr are free (do not include them in the reservation). Please see all the pictures! For Pets, please select the number of pets in EXTRAS For adding Queen Linens or Sleeping Bags "Camper Sets" select that in EXTRAS. For larger groups, 8-50 people, we have a big covered group site and we can also customize reservations using multiple sites. For big groups of up to 65 people, you can rent the entire campground but at least 6 months advance is usually needed.

We had such a great experience at this campsite. We were at “sunset” and set up a tent, and it was so nice having a GREAT shower and very clean bathrooms. We loved sitting on the observation deck and had great views. Some dogs barking/crickets, but a peaceful night. Also loved the common space, stocked with games and ping pong. Will definitely be back!

UTE #2 Campsite ~ near Mesa Verde

We had a great stay at Bright Star! We were able to stay in the Hogan the first night we were there after all of our camping gear was wet logged from the previous days of camping. The hogan was nice and warm with the wood fire stove inside and fit the bill for a stay inside. The campsite we had at UTE was level and had fantastic views of UTE mountain and 360 surrounding of the area. We loved having the camp kitchen for coffee and water and appliances as needed and having a bathroom and shower was great. It’s close to town to go in for any needs and only about 20-30 min from Mesa Verde NP! We would definitely return!

If you are looking for a campsite that feels remote, provides solitude, and has grandiose views of the sky and mountains but it close enough to a small town for emergency supplies, then Brighton Star is the camp for you. The big draws for us were the community pavilion and kitchen, running water, and toilets. The kitchen was extremely clean and a big bonus was that they had an ice machine! Also loved that they had microwaves. The campsite hosts were very responsive, friendly, and helpful. The only downside of our experience was that we had a tough time finding soft ground to lay or tent on. We stayed at the “Sunset” site. If you have a mattress, then you are all set, but if not, be prepared for a rough night of sleep. Must bring mattress. Overall, a wonderful campsite!

This property is gorgeous! It’s not fancy, but has literally anything you could possibly need. The Mesa views will knock your socks off. Please do remember that the Colorado weather is constantly changing. Be prepared. Communication from the host is prompt and clear. Will totally stay again.

A very beautiful and quiet spot with Mountain View’s and Mesa Verde views. Sunsets and sun rises were absolutely stunning! Hosts were very accommodating! They brought us firewood and were very informative about the area, but they also kept their distance, making the stay feel very secure and private! Highly recommend!

Thanks Robin and the welcoming person I spoke with by phone on arrival! I didn’t meet any of the crew, self check in, everything was seamless. I was in Cortez for 3 days as a base to visit other areas and mainly relaxing in the Hogan mornings and eves. I loved it! Hope to visit again and have a campfire which time didn’t allow. Showers were great, generator power a bonus, and the experience of space, the best.

BEAUTIFUL place to camp!!! We loved the views, the showers, bathrooms, kitchen, rec room, etc…. We also loved the location- it was quiet and on its own, but still close to everything. One thing that is good to know, is that they have water cisterns and so it’s filtered and tap water only- no hose or water place to fill rv tanks. Great place to camp, especially for families. 😁

The campground is in a beautiful desert setting, nice and quiet with lovely views. The common areas are great, with foosball and ping-pong. However, the campsite is basically a piece of dirt with a fire ring – there is no table and no shade. For $50, we expected a little bit more. The hot showers were nice and the one bathroom was clean.

This was by far the best value for the money I’ve found on Hipcamp! Because it used to be a camp, it’s well developed with tons of great amenities. The showers, fully equipped kitchen, and paved walkways made this space really luxurious! There is a pit toilet but it was so well taken care of with so many cute touches it doesn’t offend the senses at all. The showers were also immaculate. Perfect space for refreshing after a week of boondocking! I will absolutely stay again
