Hayland Farms is a picturesque 120-acre hay meadow in North Central Kansas, featuring pristine native grasslands and scattered groves of trees, along with a lush 40-acre alfalfa patch. This charming property is home to Tom and Heddy Mahoney and is conveniently located just a few minutes south of I-70. For those seeking a tranquil escape, the camping area is nestled within a secluded grove of cedar and cottonwood trees, offering a serene retreat. The campground is equipped with a firepit, picnic tables, and a combination shower house and toilet facilities, ensuring a comfortable stay. (Note: Shower service's at camp ground are closed seasonally during winter and months where freezing temperature are possible. Alternative shower facilities are located in the aircraft hangar apartment.) Hayland Farms is also a private aviation airport and is identified on aeronautical sectional charts as 87KS. If you are and aviator and would like to use the campground/runways, you must call first to make arrangements. For additional information visit (haylandfarms.com). Click on "Pilot/Runway Information". Each fall, for one day, Hayland Farms comes alive as it hosts an aviation fly-in, a car and tractor show, and a variety of other exciting events. For more information on dates and activities, visit haylandfarms.com.The Horse Shoe campsite is named for the natural horse shoe formation of cedar and cottonwood trees that encompass the commons area of the campground. This formation of trees offers exceptional protection from the sometimes windy days on the Kansas prairie. Within this area are picnic tables, firepit and a horse shoe pitching pit. The fire-pit also has an open grill attached. Firewood is provided. Tents are allowed in the commons area but campers and RV's must park along the perimeter of the tree grove due to limited access. Adjacent to the campground is a combination shower house and compost-style toilet facility with a wash sink as needed.

Secluded spot, awesome fire pit, mowed trails to walk and enjoy the landscape. Family friendly with a clean composting outhouse and outdoor shower!

Wonderful, quiet, and private place to stay. Tom is wonderful and so friendly. He works very hard at providing everyone with a great stay. Will definitely stay again if I find myself traveling through the are and you should as well.

Who knew Kansas was so beautiful? This was the perfect spot just off the highway on my way west. Tom was incredibly kind and friendly, even building a fire for us. Absolutely recommend!

Hayland Farms Horse Shoe Camp Site

We had a great stay! Tom was super hospitable and accommodating and had a nice fire going for us in the fire pit when we arrived. The spot is in a little grove of trees amongst a big hayfield so the wind is blocked. Tom has a nice outhouse and shower right near the campsite. It's about 2 miles off I-70 so not far out of the way if you're traveling by but far enough to be super quiet and peaceful.
