Jon and Pat were amazing hosts. Responsive and helpful. We absolutely loved our stay here and will be back. The free roaming horses and cows were incredible. We woke up to horses grazing steps from our door. It was unreal, quiet, and peaceful. Just what we needed.

We loved our experience with Jon and his property! The silo cabin was great, the space around it was well maintained, and it had everything we needed for an elevated camping experience. There was even a bathroom 10-15 steps from the cabin. Jon also left fishing equipment for us to enjoy and a couple of canoes for us to use. The horses and cows nearby added to the positive experience. I highly recommend staying at this property!

The campsite was lovely and we definitely felt immersed in nature. We stayed in the silo during a heavy rain. It protected us from the rain but rain is naturally going to be loud when you’re inside a silo. We had two areas we felt could maybe be improved: one was the air mattress. Second they have showers but they are purely cold water. So it wasn’t quite glamping, more like elevated camping. It was still nice to get away and the scenery definitely left us feeling refreshed and away from the stress of the city. Be prepared to share your campsite with the occasional wayward cow (or an entire herd)…they were amusing and harmless.

A clean campsite with everything you could possibly need, even optional AC! Amazing views, lovely ponds, hiking, horseback riding, and farm animals. A perfect weekend getaway. Everyone was so kind. I plan to visit again soon.

Jon was an excellent, gracious host! The land and views are beautiful and it was a treat to see the horses and cows. We just so happened to stay during a butterfly hatching, which made the experience extra magical.
Because it was a hot weekend, he provided the air cooler for us and even helped us out when we forgot our pot for boiling water. He quickly replied to any and all texts, which made us feel extra supported during our stay.
Having a shower and toilet was extra luxurious if you’re used to camping and we took advantage of the running water by showering all the sweat and bug spray off at night. We did did go on a hike, and it was beautiful, and we were totally content just to hang by the pond and soak in the views, especially during the hot afternoons.
If you love to fish and/or ride horses, highly recommend! We ran into the property owner’s son on a hike and they had just caught a big bass.
10/10 would recommend!

Saddle Ridge Retreats was a great experience! Jon was great and had great communication from the time we booked to the time we left.
We stayed in the waterside tent and we loved our stayed. A great setup and great location. Highly recommend Saddle Ridge Retreat!

This was a surprise trip and definitely was not disappointed. Everyone was extremely helpful from the time we should up until the time we checked out. The location clean, great views, and very comfortable. This is a great way to escape the city for the weekend.

My husband and I came here for a quiet get away and it was absolutely perfect! The owners were so helpful and sweet. They even made our fire for us. It is the perfect camping experience without all the work 😁 we plan on coming back with our children in the future!

What a great experience. The hospitality of the owners was incredible. The accomodations were great! The tents(really a canvas covered hotel room) are very high end, the shower delivers as much hot water as you need and the beds were very comfortable. The upper tent provides an awesome view of Mt Oread and the KU campus. The place seems remote, but is only about 4 miles from downtown Mass St. Getting to and from town is a breeze. We will stay there again!!

Saddle Ridge Retreat’s Lawrence
This was the PERFECT quick getaway for our family! The hosts were very available for communication before we arrived. We loved driving up and seeing all of the cows and horses on the land. We got a quick tour of our accommodations, they were extremely friendly and made sure we had everything we needed! They even brought over some fishing poles and tackle for us to give fishing a try. You could see the large fish jumping at times! We were told we could enjoy all of the land, and that's what we did! The animals were so friendly and it felt so special to walk along with them. My daughter loves horses (we had a scheduled train ride for the evening) but we found a friendly heard prior and spent a lot of time in the fields with them, petting them, watching them, walking around with them. It was truly special for all of us! The trail ride experience was more fun that I expected too. The people were all so friendly. I was nice to stay someplace and not have to put up our tent and bags etc. We will definitely be back!!! So thankful for the generous owners!!!

Saddle Ridge Retreat’s Lawrence
The location was beautiful and Jon was very welcoming and helpful. The pond was steps away from our tent, and offered a beautiful landscape, especially at sunset. Thanks so much for the great stay!

Our family loved glamping at Saddle Ridge Retreat. The land is beautiful- lilly pads in the pond, rolling hills, and gorgeous sunsets. It was so peaceful, and lovely to be able to walk up to the horses as they grazed on the land.
The tent stayed in was beautifully decorated and very comfortable and clean. Generators provides electricity for lights and even a little AC cooler (I do recommend bringing a fan to help blow the cool air through out the tent.
The bathroom was clean, and even had hot water for showers!
We got the option for a trail ride and the horses were so sweet and beautiful. We saw some incredible views while riding- definitely one of the best trail rides we’ve done.
Not enough can be said about the graciousness of our hosts- from beginning to end, their thoughtfulness attentiveness, and kindness. On our first day out it was raining, and our hosts cane out to give us a fresh, dry bundle of firewood. They made our stay pleasant, peaceful, and enjoyable. We will be back for sure!
