Camping on Umbagog Lake was an absolute pleasure. The view from Catherine’s property was breathtaking. Felt completely secluded, and tranquil. The short hike from our truck to the site was managed with 2 wheel barrows and sweat, but well worth it. Our dog loved playing in the lake, and exploring the grounds. We only stayed two nights, and unfortunately got a bit stormy so didn’t have the chance to have a good fire - but on a calm night can imagine it is the perfect evening. We felt safe through the windy/rain as one of us still had cell service in the middle of the forest. Will definitely look at returning in the fall, maybe boating in next time! Thanks again!

We had a wonderful time camping here and would absolutely recommend, as well as come again. It was quiet and has plenty of space for multiple tents on the property. We had a wonderful fire with s’mores and did lots of kayaking! The kayak trip there was quick and easy (about 30 mins, maybe more if it were to be more windy/choppy on the lake), which was a plus as we often overpack! If it was a little warmer during our stay, we definitely would have taken advantage of the sandy beach water front. Thanks to the hosts for a great overnight stay!

We camped at the garden site which had a feeling of privacy with another site close by. While the garden site was out back, a shared shore line and communal fire shared a beautiful view. We had a great time swimming in Umbagog lake. We did have to park and walk to the site(about a 1/4 mile walk in) Catherine and Skip were great hosts and very accommodating. We had a great time and high reccomend!

This place is absolutely beautiful! The host is a very sweet woman who was very kind and tried her best to give us the best experience. This is the best place I have ever camped so far. If you are doubting just go and experience the island.

Umbagog is one of my all time favorite camping spots - the state park doesn't offer remote views and waterfront like this without having to boat out. My friends and I had a great time and spent so much time out in the water swimming, kayaking, fishing, and paddle boarding. Road in is definitely doable if you take your time, and have decent ground clearance (my little Tiguan made it).

Super remote and idyllic spot far off the beaten path. We didn’t paddle in, but drove in instead. It’s 10miles on a logging road (takes a full hour since you can only go about 10mph), but I highly recommend bringing a 4x4 or at least AWD. You should also have at least 6-8” ground clearance as some rocks are quite large. There’s also a quick water crossing which I would say is about a foot or so deep and maybe 20ft long.
Alternatively you can canoe in which is probably what I recommend. That way you can unload your gear right at your camp spot. Otherwise, you have to park your car about 1/3 mile away from camp and carry it in. There is an ATV, but unfortunately it was out of commission during our stay so we carried it in/out with the help of a wheelbarrow. Skip and Catherine were very nice and welcoming.

This is truly a magical spot. Great access to the lake and stellar views. Not to mention the hospitality from the hosts, couldn’t expect any better!

Cathrine and Skip, have a great site on Umbagag Lake, beautifully secluded.
I would consider this site for a multi day booking and bring kayaks. Access is via logging road or short paddle across lake. I had dogs with me so paddling not option.

amazing. The site with the lake view is georgous. We had a great time with the host. Very welcoming and great discussions. She was responding fast and guided us to find the site at arrival. You have to handle a 9miles logging road to access the site. It took some times to get there but it enhance the wilderness atmosphere.
