My family has stayed at this campground a number of times and always has the best time! The location is perfectly situated right in between downtown Asheville and Pisgah state forest so it’s our go to when wanting to explore the city or hit up some trails. The campsites themselves are always spacious, clean, and right on the creek! Our kids love playing in the water, Campsite #3 has been our favorite for the easy water access, but all the sites have plenty of space for the kiddos to run around on. This will continue to be our favorite spot when looking to stay outside of Asheville and I look forward to more family memories made here!

Riverside Farm Camping - Whitaker
Wow, what a great trip!! We stayed for a nice long Thurs-Sun extended wknd and everything was just perfect.
This camping spot was just steps away from the river and the constant sound of flowing rapids water was just so relaxing, especially at night. Was very impressed with the amount of firewood that they provided and the onsite canopy/shelter was perfect our camp setup & to stay out of the sun, which we backed up our camper to.

We really enjoyed our stay here! Would absolutely recommend this to anyone. The camp site feels very secluded even though it is on a working farm. The entrance to the site is on a slanting slope going down so it feels tucked away from the tractors (that were running in the morning but wasnt that much of a distraction) and the cars going past here and there. The site itself is a little bumpy but with a sleeping pad it wasnt bad at all. We also LOVED the river, the walk to the water is down a sandy way with a handrail, which was very handy. The river was flowing pretty strong but there are some great spots to chill and lay in the water. There honestly wasnt that much destruction from the hurricane when we stayed, I am sure the owners put in a lot of work to clean it up and it shows. It truly is a lovely place to stay!

Site 2 - Swimming Hole
Absolutely highly recommend this property! Beautiful and quiet! Must book a guided fishing trip to fish the river but it’s worth every penny! Jake was a great guide!

Well equipped, relatively private, stream side camping. It's just a scoot down an easy embankment to the stream. The stream is very wadable and of course - slippery. The campsite comes with a fire ring, picnic table, trash can, and porto with handwash station. That's RARE and appreciated!
When I camped there, this campsite had its own porto. Quite the luxury.
The driveway is VERY long as it goes by some farm fields. If you have a low/sports car, you will not clear the rocks in the driveway. My outback did GREAT. The hatchback in our party had a little scraping.
This is a WORKING farm. The campsites are off of the working fields and generally have some tree cover between the site and the fields.

I've told my family before we even left, that we'd come back to that exact same spot.
Private and primitive.
Close to stores if needed but just out of reach of internet for your phone. So if you want to go off grid for a bit, this is your spot!
Beautiful entry to the river. The river was clean with both shallow and deep places for all kinds of exploring and playing.
This was my first HipCamp experience and I couldn't have chosen a better place!

What an amazing campsite! It feels very remote but also conveniently close to Ingles and other shops. We had a big group of 10+ people and this camp site still felt very big! So much room for activities and there were two access points to the water. Some deeper spots but mostly shallow. Spent all day sitting in the river and it was one of the best camping sites I’ve ever experienced!! Would definitely come again

It’s a good camp ground with a stream right next to it what’s not to like. The access to the stream is pretty hard to get in and out of enjoyably except for campsite 3 which is the one you should book. Bold rock being right there is so nice to go grab a beer and some good food before sitting next to a fire and camp out! Overall a solid spot

Riverside Farm Camping - Whitaker
Absolutely loved Northern h River farms #2 campsite on south Mills River rd. We had a huge surprise birthday party for my dad and had 20-30 ppl there we all were super comfortable and had so much space. We e did not camp out instead had a family cook out cleaned up and went home. However we f ll on love and plan to camp out for the weekend. Candace and the north river farm was awesome. I love I’ll definitely be back and will 100%campsite there again in the near future.

Site 9 May 24-26, 2025:
A quiet spot next to the river, a walkway down to the bedrock beach with ankle - waist high water. Crystal clear water with fish everywhere. We were able to tube from the bridge down to the furthest campsites at the fork in the river. So much firewood at no cost. All sites we visited were clean and well maintained. All of the porta-potty's we used were very clean. FYI, site 9 is not as big as others sites and is tucked away under the trees in the back. It's also larger than 8. This was great for us as we just needed a small quiet place for a large tent. We saw cascading fireflies, wild turkeys, deer; plenty of wildlife. Of the 3 families we had spread out, there were no complaints at all.
This was a great area for a quiet camp.
Cons: And none of these things we really cared about but I think other campers should be mindful of.
*The website could use some love; it's not as easy to use as others we have used in the past. We didn't have any issues with payment or contact with the host but more with the map and site locations.
*There are no showers. Additionally, you get a porta-potty to share with 2-3 other sites. It was never crowded or funky or gross.
*There is no running potable water so you have to bring it in.
*We had rain, sites 8 & 9 road down is a muddy mess right at the bottom.
We'd 100% stay here again and I have already forwarded the information to my employer so we can bring groups here to camp at the other larger sites.

Site 3 - Where the Rivers Meet
We went for Memorial Day weekend as a group of 6. There was plenty of space and distance from our neighbors. The place was beautiful and we hope to come back soon!!

We camped on site one and the experience was perfect. We had two access points to the river, tons of open space, privacy, and ample firewood. The spot was clean and well-maintained. Other posts mention a light at night. Either this is broken or it has been turned off as it was pitch black at night (good). The occasional car would drive by with campers or workers; however, this was the trade off to get a massive, open spot which was ideal for kids/play. Will return.

Tent camping here was a breeze. The river makes for peaceful ambient sounds for sleeping and blocking out noise during the day. Loved the addition of the hand washing station outside the portable bathroom. The built-in handrail down to the river was a nice touch. We will definitely be back for warmer weather opportunities to take advantage of the easy access riverbank beach. There are also a lot of places to string up a hammock and just listen to the river or watch the birds. This was a very private spot. My anxious dog was able to get comfortable here without too much foot traffic around. This is also a great spot for first timers (had a first timer with me). It's close enough to convenient stores/grocery but you still get the deep nature feel.
Heads up- There were gunshots on our first night (Friday) between 8:45 and 9:15PM. Us and my dogs were pretty startled by it because it sounded close but I know the campsite owners can't control what others do on their land across the river.

I loved this site! It was the perfect spot to take my kids camping. They loved playing in the creek! It was very spacious and private so they could play as much as they wanted. Had a great time!

This is a truly peaceful and beautiful spot, perfect for unwinding. The large shelter and convenient picnic tables make it an ideal choice for gatherings of any size. We especially appreciated the thoughtful touch of provided firewood! While our direct creek access was more suited for a refreshing dip than lounging by the water, it’s definitely a major plus for those hot summer days. We're already looking forward to returning when the weather warms up!

Site 1 - Perfect for Groups
The best place One of the best places we've stayed. The river is super clean and there's also a small area for children. Site 1 has a large patio for the kids and a large group. I loved it and we plan to return.

Great camping spot! Peaceful, beautiful river, plenty of stars. Great spot to spend a weekend! Be sure to notice the rules in the listing details about not being able to go fishing at the property unless with a guide. We overlooked that before we booked. But all in all had a great time.

Absolutely beautiful location - lots of good / spaced out camp sites. Unfortunately for us, we traveled 7 hours to stay in campsite #3 and the site was taken when we arrived. The host refunded the majority of what I paid. Very disappointing experience for us. Based off of reviews this was probably a one off mistake on their part. Either way we are very disappointed
