Our stay was absolutely fantastic! It is in a perfect location for exploring the surrounding area. The bathrooms were kept extremely clean. The property itself is so beautiful and peaceful. Everything exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend!

We were so impressed with this property. Tammie is an amazing host, and thought of everything we could possibly need. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were SO CLEAN!
We plan to be return campers here, it's an ideal location for visiting the Black Hills and Custer State park. So much to do and see in just a short drive.

Tammy is an incredible host - a warm and lovely person. She's created a community that she cares a lot about and it shows in every detail. As a backpacker herself, she knows what a private campsite like this needs. She's got two great covered shelters, a super upscale shower/bathroom area, access to a washer dryer, spigots with fresh potable water, and each tent/cabin has it's own fire bowl that you can cozy up to. She met us to give us a tour and answer any questions even though we rolled up much later than we had meant to. She also told us about the other guests and encouraged us to introduce ourselves - which was lovely.
We were super well-located for Custer State Park and Badlands.

If this site does not win “hip camp of the year”, I will be shocked! If you ever need a place to stay to venture into Custer State Park or the Black Hills in South Dakota stay here! I can’t say enough about what a wonderful place this is. It is a quality site, clean, has everything you need, And the owners could not be friendlier. I’ve been to nearly 10 hip camp sites now and this is by far the best. It is a nice drive to and from the site.

MY HUSBAND AND OUR DOGS ARE TRAVELING CROSS COUNTRY AND COULDN'T RESIST STAYING AT THIS AMAZING CAMPSITE AFTER VISITING BADLANDS. THIS CAMPSITE AND PROPERTY IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND IMMACULATE AND TAMMY WAS BEYOND FRIENDLY AND WELCOMING! WE WERE SO HAPPY WE STAYED HERE AND WOULD LOVE TO COME BACK AGAIN SOMEDAY! What an amazing, peaceful place run by such a wonderful woman! I came to stay for 2 nights on my way home and it was the most peaceful, soul restorative experience I could've asked for. In addition to being incredibly quiet with lots of nature sounds, the bed in the tent was so comfortable and Tammy thought of everything one could need or want. Bath towels are provided for the hot showers in the most amazing bath house, with flush toilets, I've ever used at a campground, with soaps provided if needed. The bed has super cozy blankets and sheets, with more if you need. I also had a propane heater which was amazing as it was quite cold the first night. The propane powered fire bowl was INCREDIBLE and so perfect! Lanterns are provided if you don't have your own. I didn't take advantage of the cooking amenities but I would totally do so if staying longer/next time. Tammy herself is so kind and caring, she will definitely ensure you have everything you need and is lovely to have a chat with. The property is perfectly close to Custer State Park and not too far from Wind Cave and Badlands. With no doubts or hesitations, this was the absolute best place I've ever camped, my personal tent or otherwise. I can't exaggerate enough how much I loved this place.

Awesome place with incredibly friendly hosts Tammy and her husband Tim. Staying near cute horses named Dale and Daryl was a dream come true. Clean and welcoming bathrooms! Helpful laundry room with fresh ice and a dishwashing sink. Truly a delightful visit that will bring us back to Hermosa.

This was an amazing place to stay! The property was beautiful and the amenities were clean and extremely nice. Tammy and Tim were extremely welcoming and kind. They allowed us over to meet their horses and pointed us in the direction of a trail on the property. They also gave us great recommendations for our next stops and places to visit. I felt safe and welcome here and would love to spend more time at bear den.

10 out of 10!! Tammy is a wonderful host who makes you feel welcome. The cabin was great stop and the bathrooms were extremely clean and well maintained. If we ever get back out west we definitely will stay here!

Such a beautiful area to explore and the cabin was cozy and comfortable. Tammy is so helpful and accommodating. She offers coffee, laundry facilities, a BBG and dining facility, and bags of ice available in the freezer. Amazing! We were only passing through but we will definitely come back for a longer stay so we can continue to explore the area. Thank you Tammy and Tim!

Our stay was great! Tammy is very personable and communicative and the cabins were clean. Me, my sister, and dog felt very safe there. Awesome location between black hills, mt Rushmore, and badlands. Would 100% stay again

Tammy and Tim are lovely people. Their land is gorgeous, and the warm welcome and thorough communication made my trip a breeze. The shared spaces, such as cooking areas, laundry and shower rooms were immaculate and the privacy of the lil bear den was perfect for me as a solo female traveler. I highly recommend this spot and these hosts :)

Tammy and Tim are wonderful hosts for a peaceful retreat they’ve built themselves! I will forever recommend this wonderful spot to anyone I know going to the area. They go above and beyond as hosts and have provided everything someone could need during a stay in one of their cabins or glamping tents. It is rustic but with the amenities to make things comfortable and easily reachable.
Thank you to both of them for hosting myself and my parents in the larger of the cabins!

This land is absolutely beautiful. The whole set up Tammy and her husband have is peaceful and every bit of a relaxing getaway. Within a short drive of Custer State Park and a few other landmarks about in the area, this was perfect to catch all the spots. Tammy is a hospitality queen, made us feel right at home. We will be returning and spreading the word that this is a 12/10 would recommend place to stay in the Black Hills area!!

Lil Bear Cabin was GREAT! From the moment I arrived, Tammy was so welcoming and helped carry in some of my things. She showed me around and made sure I had everything I needed and more. I arrived while it was dark so it was a treat to explore the camp during the sun rise the next morning. I walked along the trail and said good morning to the friendly horses. I even had deer and turkeys grazing outside my window. There were snacks and a coffee machine in my cabin, a propane fireplace on the porch where I sat and saw some stars, a clean and well stocked bathroom, the perks go on and on. I cant wait to stay here again.
On my way out of Hermosa, I got coffee and breakfast at Hermosa Coffee Shop. Would also 110% recommend:) THANKS TAMMY!

Tammy is such a warm host! She always makes me feel welcome when I stay with her. This time I brought my son and he was over the moon about the lil bear cabin, the hammock, and roaming the space. The facilities are the cleanest of any place I’ve ever stayed, and the little thoughtful touches throughout are so well done. We will definitely be back!

I had a great stay at Lil Bear Cabin! Tammy was very welcoming and showed me around before settling in. The cabin and bathroom were very clean and well kept. It was great to sit outside with the propane fire with some coffee (also provided).

We loved our stay here. Tammy is the most incredible host ever, she is so kind and willing. The campground itself is beautiful, clean showers, great sitting area and just stunning area around. I definitely recommend staying here on your travels.

This is a hidden gem! Every detail was just as described in the reviews. Close to Custer State Park, extremely clean, comfortable, and full of all the little things you may have forgotten to pack. There aren’t enough words to describe how incredible my experience was here. Tammy greeted me with a bear hug like we had been friends for years. As a 23 year old solo traveller I’m always hesitant staying anywhere but a hotel, but I felt safer here. The amenities were fantastic and spotless clean. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone I know passing through South Dakota

Bear Den was a place I wish I didn’t have to leave. The property is adorable, every amenity is at your disposal, and the Hostess is the sweetest lady ever. She truly loves hosting folks!
