It is a lovely property with view of the mountains! There are antique vehicles here and there, for photo opps. We stayed because it's close to Schuyler, home of Earl Hamner ( Walton's writer.)
So the old vehicles made one feel back in time like in the show.
It'd help if there was some type marker on the tree where you need turn into the site- maybe a small flag or piece of bright ribbon.
Quiet , peaceful place to stay! Thank you!

The site was very nice and well taken care of. The view was amazing. John and his family was super nice. So peaceful and only a short ride to Charlottesville and Blue Ridge. We enjoyed our stay very much and would absolutely come back!!

Beautiful property with plenty of space and a nice view of the mountains. The baby Christmas trees were very cute and provided visual interest. Felt very secluded. The land is close to the road but I did not find noise to be an issue. Lovely dancing fireflies in the evening. It was cloudy and rainy the night that I stayed, but I imagine that the stars would be gorgeous from this land. FYI - for those guests looking for the “hilltop”/field with the Christmas trees and view of the mountains, go one driveway past (east of) the “Welcome to Nelson County” sign. Drives are on the left if you are coming from 29/the west. Once I figured that out, finding a spot to settle in couldn’t be easier. I was undisturbed all night. Very restful stay close to Charlottesville/Monticello.

My daughter and I loved our out-of-state stay on this land! It was quiet, private, and the owners were easy-going! Beware—the entrance looks different than pictured (there’s a cool, antique truck now, and no gate), you may end up at landowners house!

The camp was nice and private. We did not use the 50amp plug-in or the water. Definitely need to level your trailer, so bring extra materiel for leveling. Bring earplugs!! The road near High Camp is very well traveled - and loud - until 10:30 pm or so, and there is a very active train track within a mile and the train horns sounded almost once an hour all night.
This is a great location for exploring Wintergreen and Route 151 - just a bit too noisy for us.

We enjoyed our few days at High Camp. John had electric and water right at the site. The grounds are clean and great for walking and exploring. And the views are amazing.
Make sure to bring your leveling equipment.

5 star camper experience for us. Hilltop views were super serene (especially with a storm that came thru providing picturesque skies and a.m. fog in the mountain view) The expanse of quaint seedling Christmas trees on the hill added a sweet touch. The site was mostly level (nothing some tire wedge-adjusting couldn't solve) Host was entirely flexible, helpful and pleasant. We have kids in nearby Cville, so this place is clutch with its offering of convenience plus scenic serenity!

This is a great site! Lovely fields with lots of native wildflowers. A little stream for the doggies to enjoy. And the view of hills and stars you would expect in central Virginia. Would definitely stay again!

Camping in this place is like camping in pure nature. No services at all, but a quiet place in nature. Especially if you have a 4*4 and you can drive down to the creek it must be amazing. My children discovered a swing over the creek. Sounds of trains in the background were really calming. I would advise this place

John Was a fantastic host during my 4 month stay at his campsite. Beautiful property with amazing views of the mountains. If you're looking for peace and serenity, this is it!

We did have a good experience overall but needed to hike down a fairly steep hill to get to the nicer camping spot. We have a 5yr old and a 2 year old so lugging down all our things was quite a task.
Also the creek access was difficult and we had to get lots of thorny bramble out of the way.
It was nice and quiet (except when train passed fairly closely) and we had a great view but it is definitely meant for people with a 4wd vehicle.
