Weekend Trip to Mulberry Acres

My son and I had an incredible time camping at Emu Overlook in our small travel trailer! Theresa and her husband were truly amazing hosts. They greeted us upon arrival, showing us our site, water access, and the toilet facilities. We especially loved the farm tour, where my son had a blast meeting all the animals. Our campsite was beautiful and well-equipped with a fire pit, picnic table, and a nice bench. There was plenty of room for our small trailer, making it a perfectly secluded spot. We really enjoyed exploring the trails and snacking on the wild berries along the paths. A fantastic spot I'd highly recommend!

2 nights at Solace Cabinette

Cozy and comfortable. I stayed during a work trip and it was a perfect place to set up as home base. Even was able to do my zoom calls from the picnic table. It also felt safe as a solo femme traveler, which was clutch. Planning on coming back.

Thomas was extremely accommodating as it was sooo hot. We had electric, water and sewage. I believe most people boondock, but thankfully we didn’t have to. The restaurant and winery was fantastic.

Weekend Trip to Christmas Tree Farm with Views

Really enjoyed ourselves! Took my family there and it was our first time ever camping. The place is great for newbies like me and I think a more experienced camper would like it too. The host was very nice to us. Has a portapotty that gets cleaned weekly, firewood for sale, and several campsites to choose from. If you forget something, Bass Pro Shop and REI are only 35 minutes away. Other stores are only 15 minutes away. Lots to do in the area. Definitely visiting again.

Weekend Trip to Solace Cabinette

It was a short walk into the woods to the cabin. Great space, nice and private, had a fire pit, picnic table and a stack of wood. Nice to have the main house to use the restroom and sit in some a/c. June heat was too much so I was lucky there was a room at the B & B available. Karen was very accommodating allowing me to switch; even responded in the middle of the night because I got locked out. I didn’t have the food but it did smell good when I went in there. I’d go back.

Weekend Trip to Chiques Rock Base Camp

Extremely convenient location as I was on a bike touring trip including the river trail. Read the other reviews about noise from the nearby main road and railroad. I brought earplugs and slept like a rock. Was a little damp from recent fierce rains, so don't forget bug repellant.

Weekend Trip to Greene Kitchen Farm

The Aspens is a very special place. It is a groove of trees within gorgeous fields on an idyllic farm. There is a babbling brook at the campsite and you can put your feet in and enjoy the sound throughout your stay. There are also beautiful cows and chickens with an attitude that provide farm ambience. We loved our time here and there was a delicious breeze each afternoon.

Weekend Trip to Fairview Farms Airfield

We had a great time here!! Hosts were onsite and communicative, they were very happy to help with advice on nearby hiking at the state park and gave us a tour of the grounds. Would recommend grabbing some fresh eggs at some point as an add-on, we cooked up some breakfast with them in the morning which was delicious! Much thanks to Bill and Erin.

2 nights at Solace Cabinette

Other than some misunderstanding upon check-in which I believe was all my fault. The cabinette was just as described. It was wonderful to stay dry under some torrential downpours. I had, but still beautiful as it hit the ceiling above? You, karen was a great hostess, and will it definitely stay again

Beautiful, well maintained, private, fishing, river trail is a stone throw away, great fire pit for cooking, and many more great things at this campsite This is my favorite way to camp, sleeping next to water with no one around but my family.

I camped at the Aspen site. It was very nice next to the small Creek. Lots of space and privacy. It was away from the main farm and surrounded by beautiful fields. The farm reminded me of many that I worked at as a kid.

We got to fall asleep at this campsite to the sound of rushing water next to the creek. No issues with a washout or accessing the campsite. We were in a roof top tent, and had a little trouble getting leveled out, but there’s a good spot with mulch for a ground tent and a fire pit amongst the trees if you cross the footbridge across the creek, only about 10 feet from where you can park. It’s a little muddy, but it was raining all night, so that’s to be expected. Plan accordingly. We were just looking for a place to sleep, so unfortunately we didn’t get to check out the amenities, but the host came out and said hi and was very nice. Oh! And the fireflies were incredible!

Weekend Trip to Fairview Farms Airfield

Fairview Farms is an outstanding place to go camping. Bill met me upon arrival and made sure I was able to find the campsite (their farm is over 65 acres in size and although I had booked a specific spot with amenities, if you can go off grid then the camping spots are nearly limitless), came back later and gave us a tour of the farm, the animals, locations and views, helped us with firewood etc. There are a number of amenities you can add to your trip as well such as booking the hottub, or the zipline splashdown into the pond, meet the animals and so on. We were right along the side of the runway (sadly no planes used it whilst we were there) but we saw lots of lights as night all along and up into the trees with the fireflies, so many! The views are amazing, looking down across the runway into the layered misty wooded hills on into the distance. The price was excellent, cellphone coverage was good, easy to get to, just a few miles of the interstate, top notch hosts, very peaceful and will absolutely be going back for a longer stay. Highly recommended!

Christmas Tree Farm with Views

In 1990, Scott and Sue Miller purchased a 16-acre farm in Elizabethtown, Pa with the intentions of starting a select cut Christmas tree farm. 15,000 trees were purchased and planted on the farm. Six years later, the first tree was sold and since then, the farm has expanded its operations to Bernville, Pa. Camp on our 16 acre Christmas tree farm in an Amish neighbors with horses. Within 30 minute drive to Hershey park, Mt Gretna , Lebanon, Lancaster, Harrisburg, York. Enjoy hiking and biking trails nearby and the many attractions. We have excellent cell reception on our farm. Great view for star gazing and sunsets. Firewood available for purchase. We have a stone parking lot for RV campers. Two sites can also accommodate RV’s. We will reserve these sites. Tent campers can set up in the trees and lanes. An outdoor portable toilet is available and water is available at an outside spigot. We are open April through October. We have 6 sites available with fire pits. You are able to drive and park next to the site. Sites are available first come first served. Four persons per site additional $5 per night fee for extra guests. We sell Miller’s Christmas tree farms stickers. Our sites have excellent cell coverage.

Fairview Farms Airfield

The 66-acre property has been licensed as an airport (PS20) since the 1980s. It is currently an active, private airport. We don't sell fuel or offer services beyond camping so we primarily have only air traffic with few to no landings each year. In other words, it is very quiet here except during the occasional low pass. We are very eager for pilots to fly in and camp out! The beautiful sunsets and stargazing night skies are a real treat for anyone that comes to visit. Lots of deer, birds, and other wildlife can be seen out and about. Bring your telescope and binoculars to view all the property has to offer! Note that we are always working to improve our slice of heaven, thus we do have tools, vehicles, and equipment stored around the farm that if not used now will be one day. We appreciate your understanding that some areas are used for our personal / farm storage. If you're not into looking at our farmware, there are a few nearby campgrounds. The hot tub is located next to the owner's home. Guests are welcome to use this at any time but must reserve and pay for a time slot. * Book this through the Extras * We are within walking distance of Swatara State Park and close to the Appalachian Trail. Short drive to the local winery, bowling alley, pub/diner, and movie theater. Grocery stores and gas are also nearby. Note: For the winter months we are closed, we reopen in march. The furthest we are open at any given moment is about six months. We close when hunting season comes in during the fall. Description of camp: This is not a glampsite! There are limited utilities here. No Drinking water, just water for the fire. There is a self serve firewood store, you may also forage dead wood. Here only one group may camp at a time. The campsite is a big level hilltop clearing surrounded by acres of woods. There is stone driveway that leads to the site that gets you back into the woods. The driveway is wide enough for trucks, trailers, vans, etc. Since the site is up high it gets a great breeze which helps on warm days and gets good cell service. The campsite gets great sun and has shaded areas along the sides that make for good tent pitching. We have had people set up hammocks, tents, tarps, or camp in their vehicle. We provide a privy (outhouse), an outdoor showerroom/changing room, picnic tables, and a metal fire pit with grill rack that you can put in the fire pit if you wish to cook/grill over it. The woods are hilly so biking is not recomended. On the property we have 2+ miles of hiking trails. PLEASE feel free to contact us for any questions. Also please look at our pictures for a better idea of what we offer. Nearby Activities: A short drive from here will take you to Gettysburg, York, or Hanover. Codorus park offers great hiking and is next to a lake. There are many excellent restaurants and brewpubs nearby, including the award winning Warehouse Gourmet Bistro and Brewpub. For more information read our activities section to find out what other things we provide or have nearby that you can do. Pricing: We have a weeknight discount for the site which is 29 dollars (Sunday-Thurdsay nights). Friday night and Saturday night we charge 35 dollars. Any additional guests after five we charge 9.50 dollars per person. We allow up to 10 guests total. Rules: Extinguish camp fires that are unattended and to only make them in the designated fire pit, no noise past 9 o'clock, discharging of firearms and fireworks are prohibited, do not bring firewood (to prevent invasive bug spread), keep your pets attended/on a leash, clean up after your pets, no cutting down trees

Wilbur's Shed

Let your children and dogs roam free without a leash. This property is remote and private. There are no neighbors nearby. This location is; twenty minutes north of I-76 Turnpike Willow Hill Exit forty-five minutes from Raystown Lake one hour and thirty minutes north of Gettysburg one hour and thirty minutes south of PSU three hours east of Pittsburgh three hours west of Philadelphia five hours west of NYC There is some cell service, but it is limited. Can you hear me now? Be sure to save site information on your phone before you leave, in case you lose cell-service. This is not Alaska, but it is not a KOA campground, either. We recommend you print of bring a paper map. Your GPS will not bring you to the exact driveway location. You need to be personally observant. This is the top of a mountain ridge. The access lane is steep, rocky, and has water erosion ditches you must drive over. Do not attempt this if you have a low profile car or a new/fragile camper. 4WD/AWD is highly recommended. Low profile and fancy cars are not recommended. This camping site is for those who want to live ruggedly like Lewis Clark. To see the water ditches you must drive over, go to YouTube and search "Wilbur's Shed - Blairs Mills", and it is the account of a cat with a white face. This location is in a mix of farmland and mountain Appalachia. You will see common species such as chipmunks, squirrels turkey and deer. Many bird species. There are also porcupines, skunks, and black snakes around. You may also see black bear - it is rare, but possible. You are visiting wildlife species in their natural habitat. Please be self-aware of your own level comfort with wildlife. Once again, this is not an RVs park where you will socialize with a hundred other campers. This is primitive and isolated. This is an ideal camping spot if you want to escape from people. Nearby is the Tuscarora Creek which is excellent for trout fishing. The Tuscarora has a small but lovely window for kayaking from mid-March through the end of May. Please contact the host if you would like help to plan some paddle logistics. Rental through Hipcamp does not include hunting or the use of firearms, nor the use of dirt bikes and ATVs.

Little Buffalo Park Campground

Great little cabin right on the river. Plenty of firewood right at site. My 4 dogs loved just sitting outdoors we went on a beautiful 70° weekend so the weather was great. The cabin was easy to find if you follow the directions. It was close enough to a little side road that we got there easily. It was 15 minutes from my favorite winery Spyglass Ridge. Amazing food there and my favorite alcoholic birch beer! I will definitely stay here again next winery trip.
