Weekend Trip to Valley of the Bear Ranch

Exactly as advertised. Very private pasture with good views. Cute baby goats to watch. A friendly guardian sheep dog will come to visit. The site is relatively level with a picnic table.

1 night at Camp Always Choose Adventures

We loved tepee camping on Chantelle's land! Natasha and Chantelle are fantastic Hosts, offering items we might have forgotten to pack. The kids had a great time cooking dinner and making smores over an open campfire. The next day we woke to a prepared firepit to warm the early morning chill. We received a great tip for a new fishing location. Granddaughter caught the biggest one. Maybe a new summer tradition!

2 nights at Bristlecone Camp Breckenridge

Had a little bit of trouble with the grill on sight. Other than that we all loved the spot and had some of the best Stars I’ve ever seen. Everything was clean and well put together with such a unique atmosphere would totally recommend and come back.

2 nights at Sawatch Base Camp

This was a delightful experience for a multi-generational camping trip. The grandparents were comfortable and not setting up a tent made it so much easier for us to support everyone. We had a great time, and will definitely be back. My husband and I would love to snowshoe in during the winter without the kids and parents.

2 nights at Frenchman's Creek Ranch

Our family of four really enjoyed the ranch. The spots are distanced just right. The river is just a walk away. The bathrooms were nice and clean. Todd and Belinda were friendly and very responsive. We will be back. Thanks for a great place.

The space was beautiful. John was wonderful host and made a fire when we arrived and then set up the telescope and showed us the constellation's. Kids loved it.

You will not believe the 270° view from campsite #3! Gorgeous. It is something out of Fantasy Golf. Stakes require a hammer or just use one of the on-site bricks. Toilet a great convenience. Roads are dry. My AWD vehicle handled the roads & site. (No 4x4 requisite but must at least have AWD.)

Weekend Trip to Frenchman's Creek Ranch

Its a really pretty spot nestled in the aspen trees. So nice. It’s about a 10 min walk to the river. We fished and caught trout every time. It was really enjoyable to camp and not put up or take down a tent . There is no fire allowed but there is a propane fire pit and we made s’mores every night. The propane was provided by them. Definitely recommend this spot.

Weekend Trip to Bristlecone Camp Breckenridge

This campsite has gorgeous views. Took a bit for us to adjust to the altitude, but we really enjoyed our stay. The picnic tables, awning system for shade, and fire pits were nice added touches. It is close to the Bristlecone Trail and to Kite Lake. We also saw 2 marmots and 2 moose during our visit. Thank you for sharing your beautiful property!

Weekend Trip to Laughing Valley Retreat

We absolutely loved this spot! Bill is an amazing host, and the tent is organized and designed so well - you can tell a lot of thought has gone into making this an incredibly easy stay for guests. There are beautiful views including several 14ers from the site and I can’t believe how close it is to Denver but so peaceful and remote. Definitely hope to stay again!

For a site that is such a short distance away from Idaho Springs, it feels very remote, quiet, and offers amazing views! We saw a moose on our way up, and enjoyed some snacks and wine at the picnic table near our site that looks out onto a beautiful mountain view. We would definitely camp here again!

Absolutely loved my stay at Prospector’s Rush. Amazing views and so much fun exploring the area with my dog. A few of the campsites were occupied but you still had plenty of privacy and some seclusion. (Would be fun for a group to book a few spots together). Highly recommend! Quite the experience!

Beautiful cliff side property with amazing views. Spot #7 was very steep, don’t think you could have more than 2 people at the campfire at a time. Bathroom was neat, had a great view while going! Road isn’t bad, my Crosstrek did great. Everyone was respectful so being able to see our neighbors wasn’t terrible. Highly recommend!

Beautiful site in aspens and cottonwoods. We enjoyed the farm animals and access to the Arkansas which was a good 20 minute walk from campspot. Bathroom and shower was great. Belinda and Todd were caring hosts. Road noise was annoying but manageable. I'd ask to stay again.

Weekend Trip to Frenchman's Creek Ranch

The tent was great and we loved that they provided a propane fire pit for us. The flushable toilets as well as the shower was a plus (yes there’s hot water!) We’ll definitely be returning!

4 nights at Prospector’s Rush

Loved the rugged beauty of this campsite! 11 primitive sites tucked along the side of a mountain with plenty of tree cover and space to make one unaware of neighbors. We were able to camp with our Hiker Trailer but it took some doing to get it in and out of the campsite. The spectacular view was worth it!

Williams Hipcamp was a phenomenal and peaceful stay. William was very communicative leading up to the stay including all necessary details in order to get to the property. I would definitely recommend this Hipcamp!

Glen Isle Resort

(If you book with us, please don’t follow your GPS if it tries to make you turn at the Coney Island hot dog stand. Glen Isle is .5 miles past the hot dog stand.) Due to the ongoing issues with forest fires in our area and insurance issues at this time, we will no longer have open wood-burning fires. Propane fires are permitted if you have a portable campfire ring, please feel free to bring your own. We do have a couple available for rent onsite. For your safety and ours: absolutely no check in/arrival after dark sets in; Around 5:15pm during winter months. 7:30pm summer There are many reasons why you would want to camp at Glen Isle Resort! Glen Isle is located in Bailey, Colorado which is the perfect vacation spot for friends, family, reunions, or a private get away. Glen Isle was originally built for an escape from hectic Denver. Once you cross the bridge into the resort, you’ll understand why it has served as a peaceful getaway for over a century. The Platte River welcomes you and divides the property from Highway 285. If you love to fish, you have a mile of the river to use at your disposal. If hiking is your forte and you desire to explore nature, Glen Isle is surrounded by the National Forest, Lost Creek Wilderness, Payne Gulch Trailhead, the Colorado Trail and many private acres for you to explore. You will find history narrates the Native American’s story where Glen Isle was once used as an Indian encampment, and numerous trees still stand today that were culturally modified to mark sacred treasures. If you seek tranquility, you will find hummingbirds and chipmunks always seeking an audience to entertain. Starting June 1st, we will offer evening activities, and campers are welcome to come to the lodge, shop in our gift shop. We also have snacks for purchase, and popcorn for our guests to enjoy. (Glorious Glen Isle was unoccupied for six years. We are in the process of renovating hundred year old cabins, and the 8,000 square foot lodge. Our camping areas have a river setting, glorious valley views, and a private setting surrounded by the National Forest. However, there is renovation and construction going on around some areas of the property. Additionally, as you can see from the map and read in a few reviews, we are just on the other side of the beautiful Platte River from Highway 285. About 75% of our guests are not bothered by the busyness of the this highway but others can be more sensitive to the noise. We want Glen-Isle campers to enjoy their experience as much as possible, so if you would like more information, please do not hesitate to ask. Our goal is to share the property with others, and to have the "happiest" campers in Colorado!) Glen Isle Resort was opened in 1901, by five original investors. In 1923, the property was bought by the Baldwin's and in the 1940's it was given to the Baldwin's granddaughter, Barbara and her husband Gordon Tripp. The Tripp family owned and operated the resort until Barbara's death in November 2012. Mary Ruth grew up coming to Glen Isle Resort as a child in the 1970's. Her favorite memories are the chuckwagon dinners, horseback riding, evening dances, movie nights, and the endless activities that never grew old. Mary Ruth grew up, married Greg, and they started bringing their five boys to Glen Isle Resort. Mary Ruth and Greg were both professionals in education, and visited Glen Isle in the summer of 2016 after an Adele concert. They found their beloved Glen Isle was being sold. After much consideration, they found the idea of not pursuing a dream to be more terrifying than looking back and wondering "why" they didn't...so they began the magical journey to purchase, restore, and bring historical Glen Isle back to life.

We have great views of the Collegiate Peaks 14ers and the Harvard trail is just up the hill. Frenchman's creek runs through the ranch which has hay fields, aspens, cottonwoods, pinons, cows, chickens, sheep and pigs. Deer, elk, coyotes and bobcats also wander through. We are 15 minutes from BV, 10 minutes from Clear Creek Reservoir, 20 minutes from Twin Lakes and 30 minutes from Leadville.
