2 nights at J and P Creekside Retreat

Me and my husband stayed at Creekside A! It was beautiful! Large area on the creek with lots of tables and chairs and an awesome firepit. John’s place is a must see! He has a beautiful area to unwind in the shade at all the sites. The “common” area is so cool. The shower and bathroom area is the perfect set up. You will not be disappointed. Close enough to everything you want to do in the area. Or just sit back and enjoy the camp. I would highly recommend hipcamper’s to check it out 👍🏼👍🏼

Weekend Trip to J and P Creekside Retreat

J&P is a beautiful, quiet, and pleasant place. The host was very helpful and friendly. My dog had a unique experience, free range, playing with other dogs, and the kids had a blast fishing and exploring. There were no mosquitoes. All the facilities were clean and accessible. I highly recommend it. We will visit again.

Phenomenal spot!! 10/10 would recommend. Especially creekside A campsite. We basically had the whole back area to ourselves. Very secluded, very quiet. The bathroom was super clean and had AC if you want to sneak in for a quick break from the heat. The outdoor shower was a nice touch. We rented the two man Kayak and went up the river a couple miles. Fish were jumping out the water is was so full of fish. John was an excellent Host and I even offered us to stay a little longer after check out since he didn’t have anyone else coming in after us. We paid for 4 bundles of wood and John’s son damn cut us down a whole tree!!! lol awesome:) we had a blast, definitely lots of mosquitoes for about an hour after the sun goes down being by the river and all but after that clear sky’s and good times. Definitely would recommend any family especially with kids to stay at this campsite. They even had a little trees house for the kiddos to chill in. Very cool. Good WiFi service too. This Memorial Day will be remembered forever. Thanks John!!!

Weekend Trip to Bell Oaks Ranch 5 min from Beach

Taylor’s land was a clean but still natural camping experience. The horses are well kept and cute. We had to change our RV size (our 21’ RV for our 40’ Motor coach) and was no problem at all they were able to accommodate us in a bigger size spot. The area was quiet of outside noises but you can hear the animals at night, even a little owl visit us while we were cooking outside. My dogs and us felt safe and relaxed. Took us around 5 minutes to get to the beach, no traffic, no crowds. I highly recommend you to visit them and stay the night.

My mother had two criteria for where we stayed: cold A/C and a soft bed. This place exceeded both expectations beautifully. The bathroom close to the cabin was a plus.

John's creekside property is a slice of paradise! And John is the ultimate host making sure we felt completely at home on his beautiful property. Love that there are kayaks available, plenty of space to sit,relax, surrounded by beautiful flowers, plants, and birds viewing the creek, not only at our beautiful site but in the large backyard where the outdoor bar, firepit, treehouse, and dock with sundeck were. The half bath was airconditioned and impeccable and the outdoor shower has a privacy fence. Our site even had a hammock, charcoal grill, and plenty of chairs around firepit and tables. A true gem. Perfect for family gatherings!

This was our last round of camping in Florida before heading north to Georgia, and J&P Creekside Retreat is an awesome place for camping! We have called it “magical” … with the majestic oak trees along the Shell Creek and all kinds of fauna and wildlife near the creek banks. The hosts John and Patty are friendly, kind, helpful, and attentive to any of your needs, and son JJ goes out of his way to keep the grounds so beautiful. If you are looking for a great camping retreat in Southwest Florida, this is the one! 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

Great spot! Our dog was allowed off leash in Jolene's fully fenced, beautiful backyard with a saltwater pool and she allows guests to use the pool. Direct access to waterways and free use of kayaks or canoe. We spent some time with Jolene by the pool and she is a delightful host. Highly recommend!

We had a relaxing and fun time at J & P’s campground! He has it set up with chairs, picnic tables, and a hammock which is so nice to have all that already there so we could get our camper parked and then chill out and enjoy the peaceful campsite. We were able to use the lights and fan in our camper but the voltage was not strong enough to run our AC. We stayed on A which has a kayak access at the site and it’s just a couple minutes walk to the dock and swimming area. Unfortunately we couldn’t have a fire because there was a “no burn” in effect because of the drought FL is in right now. We only stayed one night but I would’ve loved to stay one or 2 more nights :) We hope to go back!

It was a wonderful relaxing time. We loved seeing all the farm animals, talking with Karen about the horsed they were working with, and just enjoying the serenity of the country.

We had a wonderful stay at The Hideaway! The campsite was exactly as described—well-maintained, spacious, and private, with beautiful creek frontage (though access to the water was limited due to brush). It was conveniently located near the shower, bathroom, and public areas, which made things easy. John was a fantastic host—friendly, responsive, and thoughtful. He had everything ready for us, including kayak rentals and even a lovely sunset pontoon cruise on the scenic creek. The site comfortably fit our three small tents and vehicles, with extra amenities like a picnic table, chairs, a hammock, and even a power cord—wish I had brought a hot pot! Some of my friends noticed light road noise since the site is near the entrance, but it didn’t bother me. We were part of a larger birthday celebration and may have been a bit loud at times, but John remained gracious and accommodating throughout. Everyone was especially excited that dogs were welcome—J and P’s pups were the sweetest! Morning coffee by the river while birdwatching was a personal highlight. I’d absolutely recommend this spot and hope we get the chance to return (hopefully a little quieter next time!). Thank you for hosting us!

A 30 amp plug and fresh water hookup is available for each site. Dump site is close by at a local RV resort. Pets allowed but must be on leash at ALL times and pet waste must be immediately picked up and thrown away. Trash disposal is available onsite. At night you can prepare delicious s'mores, bring your stuff and gaze into the night sky filled with stars like you've never seen. There is a social area with hammock, relaxing chairs, fire-pit, outdoor open shower, barbecue, table. Bring more chairs if you are a big family. If you like fishing, bring your stuff and you can fish at the water canal that are in the back of our property, we already got some delicious yummy Tilapias. The water that we provide come from a well, we use filters to purify it and use as shower and hose, but bring your drink water. You can bring your UTV and ATV to ride over here. If you are in a mood for a horseback, we can share a contact of a lady that bring them to our property, must be arranged prior to visit. Talking about outside the ranch, you can see our neighbors with orange farms, dragon fruit plantations, passion fruit plantations, bamboo plantations, ostrich farm, chicken farm. The town of LaBelle offers a lot to do and you must visit some places like LaBelle Nature Park, and Barron Park, we love to go there afternoons after grabbing a pizza. Talking restaurants, we can recommend our favorites, like a Italian restaurant, Mexican restaurant, a Brewing co, and a delicious Pelican's SnoBall shaved-ice snow cones that we are addicts of it! We are located 30 minutes from town, no stores or gas stations close by. Please come fully equipped with your own utensils, cooking essentials, food and beverages. We're also within 50 miles away of Estero Beach and 44 miles of Fort Myer. Bring sunscreen and a hat, we are in Florida and it is always super hot over here during the day. Don’t forget the bug repellent and a sweater, sometime the temperature drop during night. You may want a flashlight or headlamp for walking around at night. Overview

Just off Cape Coral in Florida’s Gulf Coast is Sanibel Island, a gorgeous barrier island with white sugar sand and calm emerald waters. Every morning, shells from over 400 species wash up on these shores, earning Sanibel Island the “Seashell Capital of the World” nickname. There are many ways to enjoy Sanibel Island and Captiva, its neighbor island to the north. Kayaking, fishing, bird watching, hiking, biking, and shelling are all classic activities here. Visitors may spot manatee, dolphins, sea turtles, and tropical fish in Sanibel Island’s crystal clear waters, and the sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico here never get old.

Sanibel Island Surrounds

There are multiple public beaches to explore on Sanibel and Captiva islands, including Tarpon Bay Beach, Bowman’s Beach, and the Alison Hagerup Beach Park. Bike and kayak rentals are available on-island. Although some RV camping is available in Sanibel Island, RVers will find a wider selection of RV parks with full hookups and wifi nearby in Fort Myers and Cape Coral. Both areas make great basecamps to explore the area.

JN “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge

The JN “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge is an extraordinary park on Sanibel Island that preserves one of the largest intact mangrove systems in the US. There are four miles of walking and biking trails, canoe and kayak launches, and over 240 species of birds living here.

Cayo Costa State Park

Cayo Costa is an island north of Captiva that is only accessible by private boat or ferry from Bokeelia. Its 9 miles of unspoiled beaches and sand dunes are accessible via Cayo Costa State Park. Here, beachside tent camping and simple cabins with picnic tables keep you close to ocean breezes, mangroves, and desolate shores.

When to go

Sanibel Island’s tropical climate makes for good fall, winter, and spring camping. The summers are hotter, more humid, and have more frequent rain, but summer campers can still have a good time with solid rain cover and a setup with a fan or AC. Because of its position on the Gulf Coast, Sanibel Island is exposed to Atlantic hurricanes in the summer and fall. Monitor hurricane forecasts during these seasons before and in the course of your trip, and be prepared to change plans if bad weather is headed your way.
