Weekend Trip to The Viking Longhall

Expect a sense of community, friendship and peace in this unique site. The excellent kitchen was a pleasant surprise to find and very helpful. Each site comes with a firepit if you'd prefer that. It was perfect for a weekend of local tourism and unplugged relaxation by a shady creek. Your hosts are helpful and wonderful people.

3 nights at Fruitdale Farm

We held a 3 day silent meditation retreat on Aimee's land and it was absolutely magical. Perfect location for all of us to sink into silence together. The woodland paths were perfect for guided forest bathing, we had plenty of spots for gathering for guided meditations and the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking nourishing meals for everyone (we were able to purchase greens, herbs and eggs from Aimee, which was lovely to be able to eat as local as possible). We all camped and used the cabins for places to escape the heat, make herbal tea and made a little altar in the Sugar Shack cabin and also had tarot cards there for everyone to use. All the animal visitors and sounds also really added to the experience: the bullfrogs, fawn, birds, chickens, cats, fish, rabbits. A really beautiful location and communication with Aimee was super easy. 10/10 recommend.

Weekend Trip to Pop's Place Camping

Very nice space for a quick night's rest and a hot shower. We are on an overland trip from the Atlanta area and are making our way Northeast through Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, the Virginia's and the Carolina's. The trip is right at 2,000 miles and less than half of the route we are taking is paved. The majority is forest service roads, off road trails, dirt, gravel, and back roads. This was a great place to recharge and get back out there.

The amenities, the land, and the host are nothing short of amazing. We wanted for absolutely nothing on our stay and our children had the best time and loved David. None of us were ready to leave- but we will certainly be returning.

1 night at The Viking Longhall

We absolutely loved our tent camping experience here! This spot is truly gorgeous, and even with other campers around, we enjoyed incredible privacy, peace, and quiet. There's so much to explore both on-site and nearby, but our favorite moments were napping in the hammock and drifting off to the soothing sound of the nearby creek. My only "complaint" is that it was so peaceful, I barely made a dent in my book because I kept falling asleep! David is an exceptional host, and we felt right at home. The thoughtful touches of coffee and firewood were amazing. We're so grateful they chose to share this beautiful land with us. Thank you for a truly wonderful stay!

5 nights at Pop's Place Camping

We had a great time! Cabin was clean and nice. The shower is good and hot despite its appearance, and a new shower hut is in progress. The area is very green, pretty, and quiet. Great kids area too. We stayed in the Moose Lodge, but would definitely try the Bear another time.

Another excellent stay at the longhall! There was some rain throughout the weekend, and the longhall was dry and comfortable through the rain and storms. When the rain broke and the sun came out we were able to fully enjoy the natural beauty of the property. This weekend was a fun and relaxing break from everything. We are looking forward to visiting again!

The site and location were exactly as described. The area was clean, with a raised platform for our tent. The grounds were wooded and quiet. This location was great for our daily excursions into the Hocking Hills State Park. Exactly what I was looking for for my son and I on this camping trip.

Weekend Trip to Yourway Camp

Great secluded quiet spot, felt a lot like public land camping, minus having a well placed (very clean!) outhouse. This was my first Time camping in ages and first time with my new tent, so it was a great intro into primitive style camping. We were able to comfortable fit 2 cars and 3 2-3 person tents in the space. Will absolutely be returning!

Weekend Trip to Orchard View Farm & Show Cattle

We loved camper site with electric hookup and well water. VERY enjoyable site. Breanne was very responsive. We definitely plan to return later in the summer with the grandkids. Fishing at the ponds was a highlight for us. The ‘free range goats’ were fun to watch. The family obviously takes great care with land and animals!

Weekend Trip to Birdhouse Farm Camp And Cabin

We loved the pond side cabin due to the privacy, beauty of the land and comfort of the adorable a-frame. During the peak heat of the day, the a-frame's pull-out hatch provided shade and easy-to-hang mosquito netting provided protection from insects. The pond was a magical setting with a canoe and fishing gear available. The trails were marked and mowed and really enjoyable to hike. We especially enjoyed the climb of the Pawpaw trail. The outhouse was close-by. We did not use the shower but liked knowing it was there. It rained the second morning and the hatch kept everything dry while allowing us to enjoy the rainfall from the comfort of bed. It's a relatively easy hike to and from the campsite and it's quite picturesque past the farm and through the trails. Highlights included the cutest and friendliest campsite cat and delicious breakfast burritos prepared by Jennifer and delivered right on time to our cabin. We highly recommend this beautiful place for a getaway which is conveniently located near Strouds Run (which we visited for hiking) and Athens (which we visited for Whit's custard).

2 nights at Pop's Place Camping

I love Michelle and Ed’s place! It’s a great spot for cabins and camping. The only challenge we faced was that our Tesla couldn’t charge there since it was a 30-amp hookup, and we needed 50-amp. But they were very helpful and guided us to a nearby charging location in New Lex. It was a small hassle, but everything else made up for it. The RV location was well set up with everything we needed—potable water, an open shower, and a porta-potty. Everything else was amazing. We loved it and would highly recommend it!

The site on top of the hill is a very secluded and mowed crest of hill surrounded by dogwood trees and the invasive Autumn Olive bushes. The site above the rxrwinery.com is a secluded, mowed clearing in the mature woods. There are also 2 sites in the valley that allow you to be near your vehicle. While on my property, clothing is optional. If you are traveling with an RV, the Sunny Rest location is the best with campfire. This is a valley and may get soft after heavy rain. The Viking Longhall

The Viking longhall has been 9 years in the making by a group of semi serious Viking enthusiasts: the result is a 60 foot long building that has 18, 8,x4' sleeping berths. Set apart from the main open area it also boasts 2 meeting rooms and a kitchen. The campsite is a very peaceful place. Some go as far as to say a healing place! We are proud of what we have achieved and now want people to come out and enjoy it also. The field is close enough to the Appalachian highway (state route 32) for convenience, but far enough not to be bothered by it. The area is steeped in Native American culture. In fact, the world famous Serpent Mound is but 8 miles away, with many other Adena culture sites within easy driving distance. It's also in the heart of the Amish community. The area is known for its natural beauty with many hiking trails and canoeing opportunities. The area is awash in beauty and history from the ancient mound culture to the amish culture. The area has many hiking trails some of which are part of the buckeye trail and range in length from an easy 1 mile loop to rugged hikes of many miles. Our little hobby farm was procured in December 2021. While we're just getting started our new home, we hope you'll enjoy sharing the orchard, meadows, forest, and swimming pond with us. "Roads go ever ever on, under cloud and under star. Yet feet that wandering have gone turn at last to home afar." Learn more about this land: Come relax atop the Appalachian foothills of southern Ohio. Enveloped in the heart of Tranquility Wilderness Area, our 11 acres has a mix of native pawpaw, peach, pear, and persimmon trees, deciduous forest, cedar woods, wild meadows, a small swimming pond, and a large, accessible field for ample flat for tents and room to play. Trails through the woods are being worked on, and facilities expanded as the seasons pass. Mellow nature’s soundtrack of birds, crickets, and frogs and enjoy an incredibly clear view of the night sky. Hiking, kayaking, biking, birding, fishing, hunting, swimming, and more are available at several state parks and historical sites like within 10-30 minutes of the farm. Amish country is likewise near at hand with several bakeries, markets, furniture shops, and greenhouses. Our primitive sites are spaced for privacy, with a gravel parking area near the cottage and additional field parking is available near the road on the opposite site of the main house. While most sites are walk-in only, the upper field sites may be able to be parked near and the Lower Meadow, Boneyard, and Oak Grove may be able to be driven to, as weather and site conditions permit.

There is a mountain bike skills course to play on during your stay. Fire ring and picnic table is on camp site, fire wood can be purchased on site. On this property we have tent and van camping. Cantilever Springs is located in Ross County Ohio, just one mile from Great Seal State Park and Tecumseh! Drama, and only six miles from Hopewell Culture National Historical Park & downtown historical Chillicothe.

Each campsite is clearly marked and has a 10 x10 wooden PLATFORM with rings to tie down your tent, fire ring, picnic table, and EMERGENCY USE fire blanket. HIKE TO SITE - you will be hiking between 120 and 240 yards to the campsites from the parking area, uphill, and on uneven terrain of mulched paths. There is a shared pull cart available. Recommend you arrive before dark. The parking area is well lit and there is a solar light above the site name sign. PARKING-There is easy access from the road to assigned parking spots, where you will find a well-maintained area with potable water, solar lighting, port-a-potty, fire extinguisher, shared metal cart and informational sign. You will hike to your reserved and private campsite. If needed and available, there is a metal cart to aid you in transporting your supplies to your site. FIREWOOD – Firewood bundles are for sale at a nearby property. Hocking Vacations Campsites are large, cleared areas located amidst towering trees and surrounded by lush foliage. You will be walking to your site on paths cleared of trees and dense foliage. Wear appropriate shoes as the paths are grassy, uneven in places and may have small roots. Visitors are invited to embrace the simplicity and serenity of wilderness camping and create memories that will last a lifetime. Located within the region and just a short 15-20 min drive from The Bluffs, you can find Lake Alma State Park, and Lake Katherine Nature Preserve, where there are beautiful waterfalls on display, and just a little jog north you can explore the famous Canter's Cave, Leo Petroglyphs Nature Preserve and Jackson Lake State Park. The Campground is just a 8 min drive from downtown Jackson, where you can stop in and sample some of their locally famous places! If your feeling pizza, then you have to try Cardo's or, LaRosa's Pizza, If you want some good local BBQ, hop on over to Rowdy's Smokehouse. If you want to try a Western themed Roadhouse, there's Dakota's, or you can relax by listening to some live music while you eat over at Stockroom 601.
