This is our second stay with Kit and as usual it was magical! We love coming to stay and it has become one of our favorite places. This time we explored Ashland and just read and enjoyed the quiet. Our 5.5 year old enjoyed exploring the outside areas, turning over rocks, looking in the creek, etc. He said he wants to “stay for forever”!

Kit’s land is absolutely amazing. So much beauty to explore. Kit gave us privacy but was responsive if we reached out. I would definitely stay here again.

Great place to stay in the woods! We loved being able to walk out of the cabin on to public lands. The outdoor bathtub with hot water was quite lovely too.

Kit was so accomidating...and with the snow made sure we had a good pathway up and down driveway. Had heat on and cabin was warm and toasty for us.

Kit met us when we arrived and showed all the amenities of the cabin. We arrived after dark, and Kit made sure to have the lights and heaters on for us. The cabin has everything you need to be comfortable no matter how long your stay. It was very peaceful outside by the fire pit and so relaxing indoors. My only regret was that we only stayed for one night and didn’t have time to truly enjoy the cabin and explore the land. We’ll definitely plan to visit again sometime!

This cabin is adorable! It was perfect for our small family get away. My little guy loved sleeping in the loft. We got to have a grand adventure at Crater Lake National Park and just enjoy the peace and quiet! Kit is a fabulous owner and has done a great job with this hidden gem! We will be back!

Wow, what a magical stay. This cabin is something out of a story book. Remote location, bonfire, outside tub, little critters everywhere- such a wonderful vibe. My partner & I had a blast staying here.

The site of the cabin was wonderful. I think that the cabin was not advertised transparently because there is no was FOUR people fit comfortably. The compost toilet is rough and the loft sleep space was kind of hard to get to.

A wonderful forest getaway with access to hikes, lakes, and Ashland’s amenities. I thoroughly enjoyed the fire pit and clawfoot tub. The cabins amenities were fantastic. I only had one hiccup, with the shower not wanting to stay warm… but that’s kinda boujee when you’re “camping” anyway. The 7 mile drive to Lake Hyatt was a special treat for ice cream. A little longer drive to Lake of the Woods resort makes for a great day trip! I’d book again in a heartbeat.

Our first experience visiting a Hip Camp has been unforgettable. I was nervous to try this new process out but Kit made it so easy and stress-free. He was very understanding when we had to push our arrival due to car issues during our road trip and the instructions he provided made it easy to find. This darling little cabin is located about 30 minutes outside of downtown Ashland.
If you are seeking a private and calming retreat, Owl Creek Cabin is the place for you. Although the location is remote, Kit has gone above and beyond to make sure every guest will have every comfort of home with them. It's up to you if you'd like to stay connected with WiFi or tune everything out and connect to nature instead. There's plenty of wildlife, some of my favorites were the wandering deer and curious chipmunks in the early morning. As someone who attracts mosquitos like crazy, I am SO happy to report that I didn't have any issues. I used some light mosquito repelling wipes when I first arrived but seriously surprised that I came home with no bites! That cabin is sealed well with mesh on windows to keep any bugs from getting in. Also happy to report that there wasn't a spider web or spider in sight. My house has more cob webs than this place!
We loved cooking up our dinner on the grill and didn't have to worry about bringing many supplies since Kit provided everything we needed.
I could go on and on but I've run out of space. The overall theme of this review and others - HIGHLY recommend.

We enjoyed every minute of our stay at Owl Creek Cabin! Kit was a great host and made sure everything was set up for our comfort. The wildlife (so fun to watch the birds and chipmunks out the window!) was abundant and the setting amongst the trees feels very secluded and peaceful. We’ll be back!

Thank you, Kit for a lovely stay! Too many details to mention but loved the sound of the bubbling brook right outside our door, the sleeping loft with a window to let the clean forest air in at night, the misty walks through pine trees and meadows, and even Howard Prairie Lake, just a short walk away, is filling up again. Appreciate all the amenities, the dishes, toaster oven, the coffee and tea, the extra comforters, and meeting us with a wagon to carry our things. Too rainy to try the outside fire ring or take a soak in the bathtub but will just have to come again! Would definitely recommend this well-appointed, lovingly built cabin for a respite from the everyday.

Wow what a place. Simply stunning area of southern Oregon. Kit was the best host, very friendly and gave good advice on activities and food around area. The cabin itself is nestled in the woods about 300 yards off the road, which is great. The cabin has all you want in it, cozy is the key word. I went in the winter and it was warm inside. The loft with the bed was really cool. Definitely a place to spend time to reflect and write if that’s your thing. What a great place to decompress! Thanks. Kit!

We absolutely loved our stay at Owl Creek. Our host was kind and knowledgeable, and it is clear that he loves and cares for the area. There is so much attention to detail in this cabin. We loved the fire by the creek and the freedom to explore the woods surrounding the cabin. We definitely had privacy and felt very much at home. We were lucky to get snow as well! This was a very special place, and we appreciate Kit for being willing to share it with us.

Quaint. Quiet. Everything we needed, I wish we would have booked for longer. The cabin is only a couple hundred feet from main house but feels as though you are in complete solitude. Cabin was warm and functional, loved the tips before hand from Kit. Highly recommended to get away from society and check out.

This place was perfect for our anniversary retreat!
We loved how beautiful the cabin was and the magic of the solitude and privacy! It was romantic and the cabin gave us all that we wanted for a weekend away together! It snowed while we were up there which added to the beauty of the forest and made for a really enjoyable stroll through the forest.
Host was excellent before and during our stay.
We will definitely be back!

Loved the property and Kit was an amazing host. We spent 4 nights in the cabin for Christmas and Kit sent us a handful of special Christmas events in the area a couple weeks before to help us fill our time with fun exciting activities.

My husband and I needed a place of solitude to mentally recover from a challenging year. Kit’s place was perfect. The cabin is secluded from the main house and it’s quiet. Perfect for meditation, writing, reading, and overall relaxation. The short walk to the cabin made us feel more secluded, which was what we wanted. Kit provided us with a cart to haul our luggage. My husband and I appreciated this, since we had several bags to carry. Sleeping in the loft was a treat. I have back problems and I found the mattress to be comfortable. We enjoyed the coffee and hot chocolate provided, while sitting around the campfire. Kit was kind and personable. He made sure we had everything we needed and made excellent recommendations. Lake of the Woods is worth visiting. We plan on visiting again in the near future.

We arrived and after the tour Kit gave us I asked about where the outdoor tub was. He informed my husband and I that it was broken, and that he can get it fixed but he didn't want to pay for it. I was very upset almost immediately because that is the entire reason why I booked this place. I did not even look at the interior of the cabin. I just wanted the tub.
When we unpacked and expressed this to Kit he said that he had delivered on everything in the listing. I would disagree from the six photos with the tub in it. He then told us if we didn't want to stay here he could fully refund us and we can go somewhere else. Hardly the thing we wanted to do on Friday night of our anniversary, especially when this stay is 30 minutes from town. He then told us that if we wanted a soaking experience WE should pay for the spa in town ($45 each for 1 hr 30min). Eventually, after about two hours of talking with Kit in person and through Hipcamp messaging Kit refunded us $90 to go the spa.
I wasn't going to write a review, but I told my coworkers about my experience and they were appalled. And I will say dealing with Kit tainted our anniversary. I shouldn't have to advocate for myself for two hours to get what I paid for.
The spa was okay, but 1 hour and 30 minutes was really not comparable to a tub in the woods. I read some other reviews and it looks like other people have had the same experience with kit.
Note: After our booking Kit has updated the listing to show that the tub is closed.

This private sanctuary is tucked neatly behind the primary residence in a beautiful thicket of trees. It's quiet, cozy, and just what you may need for a restful recharge. Kit is a wonderful host, would love to stay here again!
