Since 2015 we have been steadily regenerating the soils and improving this once completely barren property. We now have diverse plant life on the property which in turns attracts diverse wildlife including insects, birds and reptile. Your stay here helps us to pay the bills and keep making this small patch of earth better. Our property sits on a sunny bench just back from the ocean and just above the fog line. Our south facing location gets ample sunshine most days and is surrounded on 3 sides by a forest of trees. The property is fenced and access is by gate. There are two seperate campsites which are separated by our central garden and bamboo plantings. On most days the maximum number of workers on the farm is two people (your hosts). This is a low traffic area. There is very little street traffic before 9 AM and after 4 PM Mon-Sat. Sundays are quiet. Site 2 aka Freedom Camp is reserved exclusively for tent Both camp sites can use the portable toilet. We keep it clean and odor free for a safe and sanitary camping experience. Bring your bikes, boards and/or other outdoor gear! Many adventures can be had here on the central coast. Your hosts are avid surfers and cyclists and can help direct you to the best spots to match your skill level. Our property is close to town as well as road bike loops, gravel roads and mountain bike trails. We're also close to the beach and that's how we like it. Within 15 - 45 minutes drive surfers of all levels can find something fun to ride nearly everyday of summer and fall. The 18 hole golf course is just down the street from the property and the town of Waldport is only 2 miles away. Yachats is a short 12 minute drive to the south where you can find amazing plant based food and they serve fresh roasted coffee along with a large menu of other drinks and treats at The Green Salmon Cafe. Miles of white sand beaches are located just down the hill from us where you can walk all the way from the mouth of the Alsea river to the mouth of the Yachats river. Forested and easily accessible walking trails are also nearby. South of the property is Cape Perpetua which is a natural wonderland with whales, tide pools, blowholes & includes a 26 mile trail system. Relax and enjoy the scenic 15 mile drive from the farm to get there.

You will be staying in a 16ft Pacific yurt built on raised deck that has a covered deck for shade and rainy days. There is plenty of space for additional tents and RV campers to join! There is a fire pit, picnic table, full propane grill and composting toilet. There is also a wonderful warm wood stove for staying cozy! You can swim in the creek right next to the site or walk over to the North Fork of the Alsea River where there is 1/2 mile of river access and great winter steelhead fishing too. Close to the farm is world class mountain biking, hiking, fishing, waterfalls, great views, and surfing on the Oregon coast. The camp spot is a very private grassy nook nestled next to Honey Grove Creek. There are nature trails on the property with blackberry bushes. We offer farm fresh eggs, firewood bundles, and as the garden begins to ramp up- we will offer all the veggies to campers including goat cheese! We can do cash or Venmo payments. Glenada was incorporated in 1912 and disincorporated in 1922 after the town's sawmills burned. This side of the river was pretty bustling before the Siuslaw bridge was built in 1936, being quite a transformative event considering the ferry from Glenada to Florence was the main way across the river. River View is located up on Glenada mountain, on the upper level of our three-acre lot. We have a free-range farm atmosphere, with 2 children, 2 large dogs, a cat, and 12 chickens. We allow Hip Campers to bring animals on the property with the understanding that they are good around children and other animals, as our kids and pets are often running around the land. We have firewood bundles and farm-fresh eggs available for additional fees. THERE IS NO TOILET on the property. This is not a tent camping site unless you have your own porta-potty set up. This is a beautiful rustic property close enough to Hwy 101 to be convenient but far enough away to enjoy all the wildlife the Siuslaw River has to offer. Bird watching at its finest! Not to mention the view of Old Town! Learn more about this land: River View is located on the upper level of our three-acre lot. We have a free-range farm atmosphere. This little slice of rugged heaven is just above the Siuslaw River and right off of Hwy 101. There is a steep gravel driveway but once at the top, it is flat and the view is pretty amazing. From camp, you can see Old Town. Gaze down at the Siuslaw River and all the wildlife that comes with it! We regularly see deer, red tail hawks, ospreys, and bald eagles. We have also had a bear that passes through, so beware of leaving food out. There are plenty of places to hike and visit nearby dunes, rivers, lakes, parks, and the ocean. Enjoy Florence's amazing food (ask the host for her favorites). Walk down to Old Town for dinner or bring back take-out and eat it in the tiny house (no electricity or running water). Take a short walk to Pricket state park for clamming or just relax with a book and feel the breeze off the river.  Whatever you enjoy, we’re sure you can find something close by! No bathroom or running water but there are 2 electrical plugs (110V and 220V) available.

Property is situated on 14 acres bordering the Historic Pioneer Cemetery (don’t think creepy, think rad historic gravesites from late 1800’s to current times. Many Veterans honored to live there). Beautiful sunsets to the west and is 1.25 miles from downtown Brownsville, a quaint historic town of 1700 people located on the Calapooia River which flows through town and surrounds our 30+ acres Pioneer Park. Our community has many events such as Carriage Me Back (1923 themed festival - early May), Pioneer Picnic (Parade, festival - June), Rally on the River (Vintage Trailers - July), City-Wide Garage Sale (July), Stand By Me (1986 movie partially filmed here - Late July), Antique Fair and Classic Car Show - Early August), etc. Wonderful business to support and 30 minutes to Eugene/Albany.

Rustic tent and hammock camping on 20 private forested acres, just half a mile from the Pacific Ocean. It’s peaceful, wild, and surprisingly close to Yachats. You’ll fall asleep to ocean waves, not generators. This isn’t a tourist campground. It’s our home. We’re opening a few of our favorite spots to people who appreciate quiet, nature, and thoughtful presence. Our campsites were built for our family, not mass use. If you like forest stillness and a touch of wildness, you’ll probably love it here. If you’re looking for drive-in glamping with full facilities, this probably isn’t your spot. What to expect: • Walk-in campsites (5 minutes or less from parking) • No RVs, trailers, or car camping • No water, power, or trash service: pack everything out • Shared outhouse: use for bodily waste only! • Optional outdoor shower ($10/person) by request. It's attached to our home and rustic (some love it, others skip it - or wish they’d brought a bathing suit.) • Guided check-in required between 4–7 PM. No arrivals after 8 PM • All communication via Hipcamp messages - no text messages • One check-in per group. If arriving in two vehicles, coordinate timing or walk your party in You’ll park near our greenhouse and home, where you may see chickens, a kiddo on the play structure, or hear a tractor. Campsites are deeper in the woods and often feel totally private. A seasonal creek flows nearby. Depending on the time of year, you might spot wild mushrooms, huckleberries, and more. The beach is about a 15-minute walk, including a short stretch along Highway 101. It’s walkable but may feel exposed to some. Yachats, the 804 Trail, and Cape Perpetua are all nearby. This land once held a WWI-era spruce logging camp. We’ve lived here since 2013, slowly transforming bramble into trails, gardens, and space to grow. Our son is a cancer survivor, and our connection to this land runs deep. We’re not a commercial farm - we’re a family practicing stewardship, slow living, and welcoming guests who do the same. We love hosting quiet campers, nature lovers, foragers, backwoods hikers, and families who understand personal space and come prepared. If that’s you, you’ll feel right at home.

This magical property is conveniently located 5 miles north of Florence and directly on Hwy 101, approximately 3/4 of a mile from the ocean. This is a large private site that is surrounded by old growth timber and teaming with flora and fauna. Campers are encouraged to explore, but be aware, this property is wild.. and encounters with wildlife are common. Beyond the adventuring that can be done on the property, Baker Beach state park is less than a half a mile away and there is a plethora of trails, parks, and lakes within 10 miles. We do have full time neighbors just to the North, so we ask that you be respectful and cautious with regard to dogs/noise. Hwy 101 can be very dangerous for unsuspecting pets. There are several roadside campfire stations(directly across 101 from camp) offering small bundles for $5-6/night. **Be advised that we are slowly working on the property to eventually create more camping space. There was a lot of dirt/fill brought in over the winter of 2022 and the property may not be as green as years past.** Please be our guests, relax, and enjoy!

Tucked away in the rolling hills of the coastal mountains, we call it Fernwood because of the beautiful ferns and forest area throughout our 6-acre farmstead. We currently offer three sites that are private and secluded. We are off the beaten path with no road traffic or light pollution which makes the night sky and stars so vibrant it looks like you could reach out your hand and touch them. Wake up in the morning, make some coffee, and stroll the walking paths along the property. You can sit creekside & soak in the sounds of the birds chirping, the squirrels chattering or the water flowing. We offer a meditation area, a communal fire pit, lighted paths, a large swing, farm fresh eggs (supply permitting), and a fenced wetland area with a pond and plenty of wildlife! We are situated in the beautiful Southern Willamette Valley and close to many award-winning wineries like Bluebird Hills Cellars and Broadley Vineyards, breweries like Long Timber Brewing Company, and the classic Benny's Pizza. We're surrounded by hiking and biking trails, waterfalls, and all only an hour away from the Pacific Ocean. William L. Finely Wildlife Preserve is just a few miles up the road as is the historic Hull-Oakes Lumber Mill. Our neighbor is Lainey Morse founder of Original Goat Yoga!! We provide a port-o-potty, potable well water and each site has a picnic table. NOTE: Fires are only permitted at the communal fire pit not at the individual sites.

Just down the road from the historic Oregon Country Fair grounds, there is a moss covered forest with friendly folks welcoming you to stop off and rest. Nights are quiet with faint to no road noise or light pollution. The driveway and grounds are flat with safe gated parking space for cars/vans and small-med sized trailers, tents etc. It is our pleasure to offer you a safe space to camp with your friends and family. Learn more about this land: Mosswood is on 5 acres of mostly forested land, there's usually a project going (or three). We've recently finished building a barn workshop, a covered timber frame deck in the meadow, and a very unique woven tree net that you'll be sure to enjoy! No dogs living here, just one friendly cat, otherwise it's squirrels, birds, and the occasional wild turkey procession or coyote. There is a large garden, and when growing season is on, we may send you packing with some fresh greens or veggies! If you see us out and about, feel free to come say hello or ask questions. We love sharing good conversations and ideas about how to live well and stay excited about all things. Towns/Activities nearby: Veneta/Elmira are charming small rural towns with all the basics less than 10 min drive: Grocery Outlet, Bi-mart, Ace hardware, Auto parts, some decent restaurants. Fern Ridge Lake is 10 minutes down the road for walking trails, boating and paddling, plenty of other outdoor activities nearby. Eugene is 25 min, and the beautiful Oregon coast is 45 min drive if you want to smell the ocean air and visit Florence.

About

Encompassing a broad swathe of the Oregon coast, Siuslaw National Forest offers a mix of densely wooded trails, sweeping sand dunes, and unequivocally gorgeous views of the Oregon Coast. This 630,000-acre national forest features a variety of terrains, rivers, waterfalls, and plenty of old-growth forest. Parts of the forest are also mountainous, and Mary’s Peak—the highest summit in the Oregon stretch of the Coastal Range—is right in the forest. There are also three designated wilderness areas ideal for backpacking, as well as a wide range of drive-up campgrounds both right by the beach and deep into the woods.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Many campsites in the Siuslaw National Forest can be booked up to six months in advance through the Forest Service website. Reservations go live every morning at 7am Pacific Time. If you’re looking for a cabin or yurt, be ready to reserve right when the sites go live.
  2. Some sites are available on a first-come, first-served (FCFS) basis. If possible, try to arrive by Thursday to avoid the weekend rush.
  3. If you can’t find a campsite for the dates you want, consider booking a Hipcamp in the area or look into camping on BLM land

When to go

Summer is the best season to visit the Siuslaw National Forest, when temperatures are generally warm and the chance of rain is lower. However, this is also the most crowded season, and some campgrounds and day-use areas get pretty busy during summer vacation. Crowds tend to die down after Labor Day, when kids go back to school, but the fall weather doesn’t tend to kick in until late September.

Know before you go

  • Cell service can be spotty or nonexistent in parts of the Siuslaw National Forest. To avoid losing your way, make sure to download offline maps or write down directions before you go.
  • Fire bans are common in the summer months, and during periods of extreme wildfire risk, camp stoves may also be prohibited.
  • Before setting out, check for road closures, irrespective of the season. Snow can cause disruptions in winter, while planned roadworks and landslides can bring traffic to a halt during the summer months.

Horse Creek Campground
This is a horse camp use to be beautiful but the cov 19 is killing it. More people leaving their fires lit as they leave homeless people everywhere. Including the way up . This is a dangerous place to be . Beware!!! This Corporate company managing it never came once the whole 4 days we were there . They should be fired !!!

Cape Perpetua Campground
Sites closer to the water (like #13-15) are more private and secluded from the roadway. Hiking trails start from the campground, which is just off the highway. The visitor center is a short drive, hike or bike away. Beautiful coastal spot!

Loved this campground. Very quiet, only hearing the sounds of the creek and wind in trees all day and night. Somewhat expensive for a spot without any hookups ($26/night) but was a great stay. Does not have cell service there, but you can get Verizon service at the Cape Perpetua Visitors Center just up the road, or by using one of the trails from the ground (0.2 miles to visitor center). They have many trails leaving the campground and many in the area. Great spot to stay.

Bluebill Campground
My go-to spot if i come back to the oregon dunes area. This campground, while central in the dune and OHV area, doesn't allow OHVs in the grounds so it is by far the quietest and most secluded of the campgrounds in the area. Surrounded by trees and right up against the lake with a great loop trail around it. Barely has a bar of cell service (verizon) when there. Has bathrooms and fresh water available as well. And spots are large with good privacy.

If Cape Perpetua is full, head 7 miles south to Rock Creek campground. It is run by the USDA and its a great alternative spot.

Trail hiking, beach bumming, sight seeing - do it all at this gorgeous Oregon coast spot. There isn't a bad view in the sight and tons of activities to choose from - good luck trying to fit them all in!

Pretty bare bones, just a porta-loo, no showers and only a few sites, but nice and quiet with roomy sites if you luck out! Plus it's only $13 a night. Make sure to stop at Haceta Head Lighthouse while you're in the area!

Cape Perpetua Campground
I stopped here for the first night of traveling down the southern Oregon coast in late August, and it was a nice place. I reserved online for $35. This was so nice to know that I had a spot reserved. The fog hung right on the coast but made a nice evening with a campfire and smores. Some of the campsites have little privacy, but site 15 has a nice trail that puts it secluded in a small clearing. (plus it is nearby to water and bathrooms) I did not get a chance to hike the trails nearby, but for my car camping trip this was perfect!

North Fork Siuslaw Campground
Disgusted to see what has happened to this campground. Camped here in July 2016, used to be a destination for our local family campouts, but no longer will be. Trash everywhere, a burned up tent and other suspicious debris left in one of the sites, broken glass, etc. The set up is weird now too, many of the sites are not apparent, so it seems like a free for all as to where you can camp, which makes it awkward. Some weird acting campers who appear to have set up long term (as previous reviewer stated). No attendant or ranger made an appearance to even check the bathroom during our stay. They should make this place a pay site and clean it up for those who actually want to enjoy it as a campground.
