Emigrant Gap has some hidden GEMS. The State park at the end of the road hosts the North Fork of the North Fork of the American River and its water Fall. Bowman Lake and Yuba Gap reservoir are one exit away. This small camping area backs up to 100,000 acres of Tahoe National forest. You can walk to a restaurant with regular bathrooms and wifi. Here we have out door compost toilet and cold out door shower. ATM we are nothing special. Lots of cool things to do minutes from here, but we mainly boast a safe place to park on your journey. Historic and epic rock climbing is minutes from your campsite. Also there are 4 ski destinations less then 20 minutes from us. fishing lakes can be hiked to. Quads, snow mobiles, xcountry skiing, hiking, downhill and horse back riding can all happen without getting back on the freeway. September 1, 2023. In and effort to make stayovers more comfortable, Site 4 and 5 are being removed and site 6 is being modified to host a full time 34Ft RV available for nightly use.

Our 60 years old, non irrigated, 30 acre walnut orchard sits on top a mountain at 3000 with breathtaking views and is surrounded by forest. We have over 200 Goats & Sheep, 2 horses and 3 Alpaca's that freely graze the property and will most likely visit with guests. If you are not comfortable with livestock then this is not the property for you. There is an 1200 foot airstrip running through the middle of the orchard.  Parking or camping is available on this or choose to camp in the orchard.   You can chill out at the property and enjoy the scenery and animals or hike around our mountain. Mineral bar campground, with access to the American River, is 20 minutes away by car where you can swim or pan for gold. Sugar Pine Reservoir is also about 20 minutes away by car, where you can fish or swim. Located near the reservoir are dirt bike trails ranging from beginner to advanced trails (check prior to see if they are open), . The top of Stevens trail is 15 minutes away but this is for advanced hikers only.

I enjoyed the peacefulness, my tour with Jim, the animals, and breakfast. It was a special opportunity to be with alpacas, goats, camels, and a donkey! Stacey and Amanda were very nice and communicative. I expected an assigned site, but really you just park on the grass that is shared by other campers and the alpacas. The property is leased from an owner who has a lot of eyesore junk on the property, which is unfortunate. It’s a lovely setting between Mt. Rose and Washoe Lake. Overall a very enjoyable and laid back time for my first Hipcamp experience!

The lake was beautiful and our spot was nice and level for our van. It was crazy windy, so we didn’t get a chance to enjoy the fun amenities, but the shower was super clean and nice with lots of special touches. We would definitely come back!

We had so much fun staying on Helen's site and letting our dog run around our area while we relaxed. Lots of space to set up and beautiful birds singing, lots of fire wood available for when it's appropriate. I was initially nervous about arriving there and locating the area, but Apple Maps took us right to the dirt road and Helen's directions are very accurate. It was no problem at all for our '05 Chevy pickup. The outhouse was very well maintained and did not stink at all, which is impressive! Helen was very communicative until the moment we lost service and again, once we regained it upon departure. It was quite buggy during the day, so some netting would be handy if that bothers you! Can't wait to come back.

We had a great time! Beautiful surroundings, great hosts and a lovely dog! What else to wish for? It was very nice to be so close to the creek! It was hot during the day but it cooled down in the evening because of the water nearby. Make sure to bring a citronella candle cause again you are right by the creek:)

Come for the awesome campsite, stay for the delicious freshly baked donuts. I loved where this campsite is located, beautiful trees, and very nice trail to walk. Across the street is the lovely farm. Jane is very nice, she told me all about her dogs. I picked Campsite 5 based on previous reviews. I would absolutely stay here again, especially at campsite 5. It was just me and my son, but there was plenty of room to add more tents and not feel crowded at all. Each site has a picnic table, a couple plastic chairs, and a fire ring. They even provide fire wood. Port-o-potties are kept clean. My son appreciates the free wifi. I will be back with the rest of my family and hopefully a longer stay. Thank you to Jane and her family for being wonderful camp host.

Hear wolves howling in the near distance and the frogs croaking. A quiet, secluded place to get back to nature, have fun, relax or meditate. A great place for families, spiritual seekers, individuals, adventurers, couples, groups and mountain bike enthusiasts. After driving less than one and a third mile down a dirt/gravel road, a sense of awe arises at the openness and offerings of this space.  Activities: include Mini Golf, Double Horseshoe Pit, Disc Golf, half Basketball Court, Volleyball/Badminton Court, a Sacred Circle, private trail, creek, and miles of mountain biking trails from property, The creek on the property is a 10 minute walk on an enchanting intermediate trail through the forest. The pristine waters offer several 3 feet deep dipping holes. The property is also used to support people in healing. Guided spiritual journeys and on-site life and business coaching are available by prearrangement.  Privacy and what to expect: The property is secluded and typically very quiet.  Other guests may be staying here. There are three drive-in (parking next to) tent sites nestled in the trees and three walk in sites.  The neighbors appreciate their privacy and on occasion they may have music at night. The road: Trailers not recommended but perfect for those seeking a bit of adventure and enjoy driving back roads. Smaller trailers welcome but be advised of possible potholes, semi-steep grades, one-way traffic, and limited road signs. Please make sure that all drivers read driving directions.  Tent Spaces - 6 tent spaces with 4-person capacity. Parking next to sites 1-3 available for small vehicles. Tent sites 4 -6 are walk in sites. Parking for these sites is approximately a 3–5-minute walk. Prearranged small tent set up is available for all sites.   Spaces 1-3 combined work well for a group. Please include all individuals in your booking headcount including all children over the age of 1 year old. Dogs are welcome. Please remember to pay $5 per dog/ per night in the extras. Dog sitting available for 1 - 2 dogs at a time. Must meet dog first. Be sure to bring flashlights and lanterns, it does get dark at night!  Bring mosquito repellent. We are at 4000-foot elevation so it can be cooler here than in lower areas. Fire ban is in affect and therefore No fires are allowed in camp sites. Feel free to bring your own camp stove and food to cook. So many wondrous nearby attractions. Just a few miles away: Scott’s Flat Lake, Pioneer Trail (mountain biking), the historic Little Town of Washington next to the Yuba River, Historic Nevada City and Grass Valley, and the Yuba River. The Harmony Ridge Market and the 5 Mile House Restaurant are just a 10-minute drive. In about an hour’s drive you can be at Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park, Donner Lake, Tahoe National Forest, the majestic Sierra Buttes, Lakes Basin, Sacramento and Reno.

Welcome to Finnon Lake Recreation Area! Our lovely lake to discover. The night skies above Finnon Lake will reveal stars unseen in most parts of California. Enjoy searching for bullfrogs, and watch the flock of Canadian Geese fly in right at sunset as the horizon blends into the watercolor sky. This private lake supports the fire protection efforts of the Mosquito Fire Protection District and the firefighters of this community. Community volunteers manage the lake for the residents and the Fire Station. The primary funding source for the Finnon Lake Restoration is the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, which was signed into law in 2004 with a mission to support “efforts that improve the environmental, economic and social well-being of the Sierra Nevada Region, its communities and the residents of California,” according to its Website. Finnon Lake is also home to a popular 18-hole disc golf course and Mosquito’s only restaurant, Smoke on the Water Diner, which is open on weekends only 530-622-1060. This land was home to the Miwok, then European and Chinese miners, then a cattle rancher. It was also home to a former nun who quit the dominican order to purchase this land for inner city kids to have a chance to ride, swim, hike and fish. We moved here in 2017 and purchased this land with the main goal to raise our large family here, but we have found that good things must be shared! There is NOTHING like being in the wilderness of this area for a good re-centering of the soul! We have found it to be a true blessing for our family, and we hope you can experience this blessing as we share this space with you. We feel certain you will not be disappointed with our beautiful river canyon. Our property is situated right on the middle fork cosumnes river. We have 2 sleeping cabins and several tent sites (can be rented separately). The cabins offer a rustic/minimalist type vibe - bring your own bedding/pillows to sleep on the comfy futon. A table and chairs are provided for the cabins. Tent sites each have a wood table (bring your camp chairs) and a fire pit when the season is open for burning. The swimming is awesome and the stars at night will put you into a state of awe! In the area there are many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting! It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the cabins (litererally 200' away!). It is still as beautiful as ever but please know there are lots of slash piles. Falling trees and burned up stump holes are also a risk and it is presumed campers will be cautious and use at their own risk. We ask campers to use our property only for land use and river access, NO up or down river access is permitted AT ALL. Please don't hesitate to shoot us a message if you have any questions!

Welcome! Have you ever wanted to experience the off season of a Christmas Tree Farm? Here is your chance! We are a choose and cut farm serving families since 1984. We are located in Foresthill 30 minutes above Auburn. 15 minutes from the town of Foresthill. We offer off grid RV camping in the forest right off Foresthill Road, here you can experience the view of the Crystal Butte Mountains. Additionally, we offer close access to dirt bike trails. You can hike our 55-acre farm, ride mountain bikes, or even bring your horse for trail riding. We have a communal fire pit meaning - all campers are expected to share the one fire pit we offer. All roads on the farm lead back to the campground. What does off grid RV camping mean? Well, that means we have no power or water hook ups. We do have potable water access. You are more than welcome to bring your own generator if you please. Quite hours from generators and campers are from 10pm-8am Are Dogs welcome? Of course they are welcome the are family. All we ask is for them to be leashed at all times and no poop bags are allowed on the farm. Their poo helps fertilize our trees as nature intended. However, please clean up after your pets in the camping area and please take it with you when you leave. Don’t feel like cooking while your camping? No worries we have restaurants in town that would love to serve you. Lastly, the farm has no trash cans or dumpsters on site. We are a "pack it in pack it out" farm. History of the snowy peaks- the Wilson family started the Snowy Peaks Farm in 1979. When you camp with us the tallest trees you see are planted from the original family. Snowy Peaks opened the gates for choose and cut Christmas trees in 1984. Since then, the property has had 3 owners: the Wilson’s, Armstrong's and now the Jones family who are continuing the tree farm legacy. Over the years we have HAND planted (yes hand planted) well over 30,000 trees to make up for every single tree we sell during the Christmas tree season. Camp Nauvoo was originally bought by the LDS church in the 1960's for a girl's camp. The camp was owned by the Boy Scouts from 2011-2015. The Rose family bought the property in 2016 with the intent to continue the tradition of tent camping as well as creating opportunities for exclusive events i.e., group/family reunions, weddings and corporate events. We are a small privately owned small campground (20 sites only) located on the outskirts of Placerville. The property features 86.5 secluded Tahoe like acres with beautiful year-round Weber Creek. The camp sites are placed along the creek or the bluff overlooking the creek. We have traditional dirt camping, canvas tents on platforms, teepees and glamping tents for those that want the comforts of home. We are tent camping only with only one site that allows a small travel trailer or van. (#14) . We are dog friendly and allow dogs in all but 5 glamping sites. We do enforce camp rules especially our quiet time between 10 PM and 7 AM (please review). We’ve been told that we have a “family camp” vibe. We are a great place for families wanting a safe environment for their kids but also several group sites for those that want to hang out together with multiple families. We are also a great base site for those wilderness enthusiasts with access to all the El Dorado National Forest including Desolation but want a hot shower at the end of the day. We have a lodge that is stocked with games and a ping pong table. The lodge has a microwave, Keurig machine and a hot water kettle for those hot drinks (BYO Cups).We have several tables set up for those that want to eat inside as well as multiple picnic tables along the side of the lodge with overhead protection. We have electricity at the at the lodge for small appliances and charging phones. We have a compressor on site to blow up your air mattresses or float toys. We’ve been told that our bathrooms are the “cleanest” ever and have changing tables and diaper pails. We offer nice flushing toilets and hot showers! We have many extra amenities including a compressor to use for your air mattresses, For outdoor activities we have basketball, volleyball, pickleball and cornhole not to mention the playground with swing sets, seesaw and tractor play. We have hiking trails throughout the property. Our highlight is a camp fire bowl with bench seating with a stage to display camper talent which is perfect for the evening fire and roasting s’mores (bring the fixings). The creek starts out in spring looking like a rushing river featuring many fishing and swimming holes. As the summer progresses the water level falls but is still great for water play and fishing. We have propane BBQs (we provide the propane for BBQs) located throughout the property. We also have a propane grill and charcoal BBQ located in the common area for all to use. There is a dutch oven pit also in the fire bowl area. We do not allow wood fires at the individual sites but each site has a propane firepit for ambiance (not cooking) that requires you to purchase a 20 lb. propane cannister on site (add in extras) or pay cash on site. No internet service. There is limited internet only available for purchases at the setore. We require a 3 night minimum for the major holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. We do not do checkins on Sunday but do allow camping over Sunday night. We do exclusive events so you may need to explore multiple weekends to find the right reservation. We are located in the foothills so we are a short hop to many local attractions that include river rafting, gold mines, wineries and historical towns with great eating establishments. Tahoe is less than an hour away and there a many hiking trails within 20-30 minutes. We have a limited number of items to rent i.e, tents, cots, camp stoves, etc. We rent a battery pack for those that use a cpap. We also have a small store on site for those items you forgot and a good selection of ice cream and ice. We take venmo or cash. CHECKIN IS BETWEEN 4 AND 8. IF YOU ARE COMING FROM THE BAY ALLOW 4 HOURS - YOU MUST LEAVE BY 3:00 IN ORDER TO ARRIVE DURING CHECKIN. It is on this property that I saw my first grouse. Also look for warblers-notably Audubon's and the Hermit Warblers- along with the White-headed Woodpecker. You will likely hear a Pileated Woodpecker and if you are lucky you will see one Learn more about this land: Welcome to Sugarpine Slopes. The Sugarpine has the longest cones in the world and many birds and mammals like the pine nuts and use the tree for habitat. This is a spring through fall place only. There is no winter access. The property is at 5800 feet.  Depending on the weather the road may close from Nov 15th to May 15th.  The road on the property is a dirt road.  All wheel drive or 4WD vehicles recommended although the lower section could be accessed by most vehicles. Shorter trailers allowed at Site A. Site 3 can also accommodate a small teardrop-style trailer The property is totally undeveloped at this time. It is a wildlife corridor for deer and bear (keep all food contained), the mountain quail and the blue grouse. Keep your eyes open for the Hermit Warbler, Audubon's Warbler, and our gorgeous visitor from the tropics the Western Tanager. You are likely to hear the Pileated Woodpecker and if you are lucky you will see it and its red crest in an undulating flight through the trees. The property has a lovely west facing slope which climbs gradually at first then more steeply to the top of the property. We have drive-in camping on the lower section.  There is one walk-in site at the top of the property. There is wonderful hiking nearby with several trailheads in the area within approximately 4 miles.  More information can be provided upon request.

Bring your hiking boots or your off-road toys and explore 160 acres of secluded, magical forest filled with wildflowers, butterflies, ancient Pines and Cedars, wild berries, and wild game. Spend the day relaxing, picnicking, and try your luck at gold panning on pristine Slab Creek where not a single human or road exists for miles. Bring your paddle boards and kayaks and spend an afternoon at Stumpy Meadows, a beautiful mountain reservoir a 25 minute drive from the property. Apple Hill wineries and farms are a 40 minute drive. If you bring the off-road toys you also have access to miles of trails throughout hundreds of acres of national forest. Don’t feel like cooking? Smoke on the Water restaurant at Finnon reservoir in Swansboro is a quick 20 minute drive from the property. If you need supplies, a nice restaurant, or a day of wine tasting to break up the grit, downtown Placerville and Georgetown are both a 45 minute scenic drive. IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE:  1) To get the most out of your experience, we highly recommend a 4WD vehicle, or eBikes. 2) The creek is at the bottom of the canyon, 1.5 miles from the gate at the entrance, and the road down is very steep in parts. We highly recommend an off-road vehicle/ATV or eBikes for easy access to creek. 3) Be aware you are in the middle of the forest and wildlife such as bear, mountain lions, rattlesnakes, etc have been spotted on the property. Poison Oak is also common.   4) The property has cell service in the upper quadrant, however once you drop below the tree line toward the creek there is no service.
