Weekend Trip to Standiford Goat and Equine Ranch

Like a childhood dream. The horses, the petting area (donkeys and so many goats) and beyond that, the wild turkeys and deer were a wonderful wake up every morning. The views are incredible. We had an issue with our truck and couldn’t back into a space so they helped us figure out another option. One little boy told me he lived there. (He was camping too)

It was a very independent experience, where you get to create your own oasis! Teresa and Amy were just so wonderful and kind. Believe the reviews that say Andy is an amazing host! Even before I booked he was communicative and welcoming. The directions he provided were clear, making Apollo Ranch super easy to find. He met me at the entrance to his property and showed me around, then checked in once a day to see if I needed anything. Staying here was the perfect peaceful getaway I needed to disconnect and recharge. I will definitely keep his place in mind for the future!

Bobby and Brooke were so warm and welcoming. We enjoyed chatting with them and experiencing their property. Definitely go down the road a bit and hike to the red rocks. The FHU site was under construction but we were still able to do a sewer drop before we left which was appreciated. Highly recommend these warm hosts and their property.

This campsite, located on the eastern edge of the Denver metro area, was both convenient and scenic. It was quiet at night, with dark skies ideal for stargazing. The host was accommodating and responded quickly to messages, which was especially helpful when our arrival time changed due to traffic delays. The site matched its description but exceeded expectations, featuring a well-maintained picnic table, a canopied shelter, and decorative mini lights.

Tent site 12 was amazing! Very private, right next to the river & super spacious. The hosts were very welcoming and super friendly! We brought our dog along for his first camping trip and the spot couldn’t have been better! It’s not too far from the bathrooms and has a very sturdy picnic table at the site, as well as a fire pit. We’re already planning our next visit!

Having the cabin be on the river was the best part. The different accommodations aren’t super far from each other but far enough you feel like you have your own space. Running water in the cabin was a nice convenience as well as the power. Cabin was cozy but the best feature really is the setting. Great stargazing on a clear night too.

Andy was friendly. He showed us into his property to our campsite. Porta potties, shaded table area with chairs, firepit, and nightlights were provided. Andy tried to make us feel welcome and accommodate any needs we might have had. For the price, this is a great place to stop if you are travelling or visiting the Denver area.

Please note that a 4WD/high clearance vehicle is essential for winter access, and rigs over 25' will not fit. We have a nice long pull-in with full hookups on our one-acre property. There are houses around; it's not a secluded wilderness spot. We've been RVing for seven years (two of them full-time) and hiking and camping for many more. We're happy to provide local recommendations or to help you out with your rig if you're new. Our home is conveniently located approximately 35 minutes from Boulder or Nederland, 45 minutes from Eldora for skiing enthusiasts, 25 minutes from the Longs Peak Trailhead, and 45 minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park. We have hiking trails directly from the backyard.

The Sangre de Cristo Range in Colorado contains the following 14ers: Blanca Peak, Challenger Point, Crestone Needle, Crestone Peak, Culebra Peak, Ellingwood Point, Humboldt Peak, Kit Carson Peak, Mount Lindsey, and Little Bear Peak. Great Sand Dunes are visible from every site. With unlimited mountain views, beautiful starry night skies, come see the Milky Way, Eclipse, even Meteor showers!!! History: this land was originally part of a large cattle ranch in the 1980s. The main ranch is still up and running but this parcel was used for many purposes over the years. In 2021, we were featured in USA Todays Ten Best for star gazing! My property has 360 degree mountains views with the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range as our back yard. Nearby you can find many different trail systems for all kinds of outdoor enthusiasts. From hiking to jeeping, ATV or dirt biking and equestrians - you can find it all! You will be surrounded by BLM land, BACA land, and Wildlife Refuge just two miles away. Be sure to bring extra bug spray and protection needed against biting insects such as flies, gnats, and mosquitoes. For those bringing your pets, they MUST be on a leash/lead at all times. While I do not have much cactus on my property, I do have an abundance of greasewood (Chico brush) which is very thorn-like if stepped on. Accommodations for those with livestock or horses, just make sure you chat in advance your initial message. Close to BLM, and National Forest as well as 3 hot springs within 20 miles and the Great Sand Dunes. We are still under construction and making changes often so bear with us while we continue to add and change things for the better!
