1 night at Peaceful Country Haven

Such a lovely spot and wonderful hosts. Highly recommend if you are looking for a peaceful spot with amazing views.

We had a nice parking spot for the RV with electric. The hosts were very kind and accommodating. They had written information telling campers local areas to visit and guidelines. The property was just lovely. There was a portable potty and area to cook, a place for a tent. Above all, were those adorable goats that I was able to pet and brush. My stay there was absolutely wonderful and memorable! Thank you!

2 nights at Islands Base Camp

Stayed at Joan and Bob’s place with my dog for a couple nights and loved the location. They were very accommodating showing us the amenities upon arrival. For the shoulder season there is surprisingly lots to do in the area. Wally’s Bagels is an absolute MUST. On our last morning we woke up to some cows right outside the roof top tent we were staying in which was a nice surprise lol. Only thing I wish I had done was grab some of their beef for my next camp spot.

Aisha was a wonderful host. She met me and explained in detail the campsite options. She gave me a lot of information about the area and available trails both at the property and the surrounding area. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate but I would definitely come back.

Weekend Trip to Islands Base Camp

Great views of the farm, and perfect view of the sunset from the beach. Joan is the most personable and friendly host you can ask for, and it's wonderful to support the local farms at the farmer's market and roadside farm stands.

Joan was very helpful upon arrival/check in. We lucked out and had the place to ourselves for the night. The site had everything we could possibly need for a nice and quiet tent stay. Would have no problem staying here again if the opportunity presented itself.

The property of Aisha’s was sooo beautiful, and she was so nice!! We were running a little late to the campsite and she waited there until we got there!! She has lots of wildlife like beavers and we stayed at the top of the hill and it was so peaceful. Highly recommend!!

What a gem! This spot was excellent and suited me just fine. Nearby to trails and city. Great views, I loved falling asleep to the sound of the brook. The land was well kept and provided more than enough space for one. Julia and Jeff were excellent hosts; friendly and accommodating. I hope this land treats future campers as well as it did me.

What a gem! Such a lovely spot. Quiet, safe, and perfectly located nearby trails and city. Land is well kept and provided everything a camper needs. Julia and Jeff were excellent hosts. Super nice and communicative. I loved everything so much, I ended up extending my stay and the hosts were flexible. Hope this land is as good to fellow campers as it was to me!

Weekend Trip to Pike Brook Camping

Absolutely lovely views, the trails were amazing. The keystone bridge gave for amazing backgrounds in our photos. The stonefire pit was spacious and well kept, big enough to make several different styles of fires for any of your cooking needs. The spot was near the road so you can hear any of the farm tractors going by, but that was just ones or twice. Same with a few times it seemed planes flying overhead. The wife and I made the joke about their searching for us but we're too well hidden. Then there's the creek, what can you say It is beautiful and pristine we found a brook that flowed into the creek. All in all taking in the sights of nature at this location is absolutely spectacular. Definitely would recommend, plan on making this a recurring spot to camp at from time to time. To top it off the host met up with us and made sure we were good with the location, there was firewood at the site provided for us to use and fresh dry firewood was brought to us the next morning to replenish what we used. Absolutely the best host interaction we've had to date.

Weekend Trip to Pike Brook Camping

It felt like a secret hiding spot off the road. Surrounded by trees with the sound of the creek. Even the firepit was a nice touch. There was some wood under a tarp. The host did bring more wood the next day. It did rain the whole time we were there. We made the best of it. Our dog had fun grabbing all the branches she could find. I think our tent was way to big for the area. It was nice not to have to walk or hike all our gear to and from the parking area. We were able to drive up and set up. The sound of the rain hitting the tent and the creek made a nice asmr moment or like those white noise machines. Very peaceful and safe. I'm sure this spot would be nicer when it's not raining for 7 days and 7 nights. I would have loved going closer to the creek but the rain didn't make the ground feel safe at all. I already told a friend who also loves going camping. Her and her husband would enjoy the other campsite more which is across the road. She would enjoy the view of the creek.

The field was wide open and very quiet. The most gorgeous views of the mountains. Had to migrate to where the grass was a bit shorter as my first night there was quite a few crawling critters. But second night was just fine! I hope all future campers enjoy!

stayed 2 nights in early April pros: easy to find, clean property, metal fire pit, picnic table, Melinda and Dan are very responsive and friendly, they brought their tiny home to the site because they knew I was tent camping on a rainy weekend, requested a wood chopping block and they delivered it immediately cons: the tiny house has a funky odor to it and apparently my down pillow absorbed this odor through the air - hoping this goes away over time but right now it's unusable there's not much privacy because the road is 50 feet away and had pretty regular traffic. some of the passing vehicles slowed to almost a stop and I could see them rubber necking to get a look at whoever was at the site. this made me uncomfortable leaving my possessions when I would leave for the day because I didn't know who all these visitors were and they all seemed overly interested in getting a look at me. I can be a bit extra when it comes to privacy/security so this was probably partially just me. suggestions: orient the tiny house so it's between the road and site to add privacy and provide a way to secure the house ( key, or combination keypad)

Our property consists of 2 acres surrounded by apple orchards, strawberry, blueberry and raspberry fields, corn fields, pumpkins and more! We have segmented a portion of the property for use as a RV/Tent site, with 30A electric, water, septic hookup, fire pit and picnic table, with plenty of space for vehicles, a boat and room for kids to run around. Note there is no host-provided toilet here. Campers must provide their own. On the working orchard around us and within walking distance is a petting zoo with a horse, donkeys, llamas and goats, and a playground. Come visit in the fall and you may be able to take a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch to pick your own pumpkins, and find your way through the corn maze next door. There is also a very large country store stocked with fresh vegetables, maple syrup and other local products, gifts and souvenirs of all kinds and a bakery where you’ll find fresh donuts, pies, breads, cookies, breakfast items and so much more! Mollie Mae’s Chicken Ranch also makes a great home base location for anyone interested in venturing out to the surrounding areas. Whether it’s spending time on the beach at Ausable Point campground, golfing some of the surrounding courses, paddling or boating the waters of Lake Champlain, hiking the hundreds of trails in the Adirondack Mountains, leaf-peeping northern New York and Vermont in the fall, or visiting the Olympic Village in Lake Placid, there are so many things to see and do within a short driving distance. We are just 4.1 miles from Ausable Point campground and Lake Champlain, 4.6 miles from Ausable Chasm, 7.9 miles from Bluff Point Golf Resort, 12 miles south of Plattsburgh, 34 miles from Whiteface Mountain and 38 miles from Lake Placid. You can also take the Lake Champlain ferry from Plattsburgh and a short ride to Burlington, VT, which is about 41 miles away in total. If you want an international, metropolitan experience Montreal, Canada is only 71 miles north, but still close enough for a day trip. Islands Base Camp

Conserved by the South Hero Land Trust, the historic Sawyer Bay Farm on the Island of South Hero was converted to grazing beef cattle. Our farm name is Health Hero Farm. We practice intensive planned grazing, moving the cattle daily to fresh grass. The herd may be near the campsites or completely out of sight, somewhere on our 180 acres. While we were building a house, we camped in the equipment shed during the summer and grew to value its convenience. Joan's enjoyment of cycling inspired her to designate the farm stand as a "bike stop" where visitors could buy a snack, get water, fix their bikes and use the unique islands amenity of a composing toilet in a converted ice fishing shack. South Hero is an agricultural island, as well as a summer tourist destination with numerous outdoor activities. It is also only a half-hour away from Burlington, and the drive is pleasurable. Pitch your tent, stow your gear under cover and explore all the islands have to offer. Yes, this is a summer destination, with great cycling, boating and swimming. We are a grass-fed beef operation, Health Hero Farm, on the island of South Hero. (You can read more about us on our farm website. ) Our farm is on the bike route around the islands, with access to many other vacation activities. Pitch your tent in the farmstead or in half of our empty equipment shed 30' x 60'. Or tool on down the farm road and be alone with the cattle and grass. In the shed, which is open on the north side, you have shelter from the rain, sun and wind. We have two campsites that can share a microwave, hot plate, refrigerator, camp sink and coffee maker in the barn. Lots of storage under roof for bikes and luggage. Our composting toilet (from Natures Head Composting Toilet) is a unique amenity -- installed in a retired ice-fishing shack (on skis). During the busy summer months, we may have a port-o-let (a.k.a. port-a-potty) with professional service. In the winter, the equipment shed not available. We rent out vehicle and boat storage in the equipment shed and cannot accommodate camping there. However, we have ample parking for RVs at any time of the year. And if you are an experienced snow camper, we have several locations to choose from. We have a farm stand where you can buy a few snacks. If you want to try our beef, we'll be happy to show you our freezers. We are 2 miles from a convenience store that packs an amazing array of products into a small space. We are close to a gem of a public beach, a winery (Snow Farm Vineyard), apple orchards, a public school playground, and miles of scenic driving. Local farmers markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays offer some of the best produce from these agricultural islands. We also own 1000' frontage on Lake Champlain, which you may enjoy. It is difficult to access, but affords privacy and serenity. We allow campfires on the gravel areas of the farm and on the beach, where you can gather dead wood. If you want to host a large group, you will need to reserve both campsites and rent a port-o-let (Vermont's lingo for porta-potty) if we don't already have one. Additional fees might apply. There is no RV electrical hookup; however, the equipment shed has electric outlets for your use. Additional fees apply for energy intensive appliances, such as heaters or air conditioners. There is no water hookup; however, we can fill your tanks with a hose from a potable water supply. Generators are not allowed, unless you are sufficiently distanced from other campers and our neighbors. Other accommodations may be available. Just ask! We have many resources, and want you to have a great visit.

Learn more about this land: Walk Adirondack Acres Trail to the end and you will find a beautiful private natural beach on the shores of the Au sable River, which is well known for the best place in the world for fly fishing. We are pet friendly about a ten-to-15-minute walk to your car and all that is left is you and nature. We are right in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains on the way towards Whiteface Mountain with spectacular views. Our toilet accommodations are set up at the Meet and Greet area in the tiny stand or you are welcome to bring your own if ours is not suitable. Maple fields and Stewarts Shops both have full indoor bathrooms for the public. wi-fi password is available if you ask us for it. Campsite numbers available this year will be Site2 which is left, we are planning to OPEN second site which will be on the right side, Site1, when it is finished. In the middle of Summer, you can ask about it. Only 1 site is open, Site2, on the entire land at this time. This year we have changed a few things and we have added some changes hoping to improve every year and we hope you have a wonderful time here on our beautiful land that we are very blessed to share and enjoy, with you our Hip camp, friends! We have it as a 10-to-15-minute Walk in depending on where you park, for vehicles with no 4x4. We are requiring 4x4 and some clearance to be able to drive up to the site. Wood is FREE off the land; we suggest bringing wood for the first campfire especially if it has been raining. You can look for firewood on our land and we have it available where we Meet and Greet. Arnold's grocery, is a small mom and pop store with 375 different kinds of beer, wood, and local art. Maple fields grocery store and Stewart's stores also has gas, grocery, wood, and both have restrooms. And just to be extra safe when we meet and greet to show a group down to the river, we will be staying at least 6 feet apart and not shaking hands be smart, be safe. We want you to be able to experience nature to its fullest.

Campers at Ubuntu found the perfect spot to observe the April 8th TOTAL solar eclipse. There are no lights, no neighbors in sight, and they had the freedom to choose their campsite or observation point, whether it was on the flat, nestled in the trees, or on top of Carney Mountain. RV’s also easily found a spot to camp. New friends were made as everyone observed the eclipse. It was totally awe inspiring in so many ways!! The open areas and the top of Carney Mountain, which is a short hike with panoramic views of the area, were perfect spots to experience the solar eclipse, Northern Lights, sunrises and sunsets. The 115 acres of Ubuntu offer many opportunities for camping, hiking and enjoying the abundant wildlife. There is a wet area that sometimes becomes several ponds if the beavers have been at work. There is a path leading to the ponds and also one that runs through the woods to the right of the ponds. The location is private and quiet but still very accessible (only 10 minutes from Exit 34 off the Northway) to all the Adirondacks has to offer, such as biking, jogging, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and hiking. Ubuntu is located only 45 minutes from Lake Placid and the high peaks areas, Saranac Lake is about one hour away, Lake Champlain is 20 minutes away, and Montreal is one hour away. The ferry to Vermont if you wish to cross over the pond (Lake Champlain) is about 45 minutes away. And Exit 34 off the Northway is only 10 minutes from Ubuntu. And if you love equestrian sports, the Willow Hill Equestrian Center is less than 1.5 miles away. Bring your horse and stable your buddy at the Willow Hill Farm, or sign up for a lesson with one of their accomplished instructors. Your furry pets are welcome, but we ask that you keep them on a leash if they tend to chase game or do not have a reliable recall. Please use good judgment. There are many deer on the property, so yes we do have ticks. Please take the necessary precautions. Generators are allowed but in keeping with the peace and tranquility of Ubuntu, please run them only between the hours of 12:00 - 2 PM, especially if other campers are present.. Conserved by the South Hero Land Trust, the historic Sawyer Bay Farm on the Island of South Hero was converted to grazing beef cattle. Our farm name is Health Hero Farm. We practice intensive planned grazing, moving the cattle daily to fresh grass. The herd may be near the campsites or completely out of sight, somewhere on our 180 acres. While we were building a house, we camped in the equipment shed during the summer and grew to value its convenience. Joan's enjoyment of cycling inspired her to designate the farm stand as a "bike stop" where visitors could buy a snack, get water, fix their bikes and use the unique islands amenity of a composing toilet in a converted ice fishing shack. South Hero is an agricultural island, as well as a summer tourist destination with numerous outdoor activities. It is also only a half-hour away from Burlington, and the drive is pleasurable. Pitch your tent, stow your gear under cover and explore all the islands have to offer. Yes, this is a summer destination, with great cycling, boating and swimming. We are a grass-fed beef operation, Health Hero Farm, on the island of South Hero. (You can read more about us on our farm website. ) Our farm is on the bike route around the islands, with access to many other vacation activities. Pitch your tent in the farmstead or in half of our empty equipment shed 30' x 60'. Or tool on down the farm road and be alone with the cattle and grass. In the shed, which is open on the north side, you have shelter from the rain, sun and wind. We have two campsites that can share a microwave, hot plate, refrigerator, camp sink and coffee maker in the barn. Lots of storage under roof for bikes and luggage. Our composting toilet (from Natures Head Composting Toilet) is a unique amenity -- installed in a retired ice-fishing shack (on skis). During the busy summer months, we may have a port-o-let (a.k.a. port-a-potty) with professional service. In the winter, the equipment shed not available. We rent out vehicle and boat storage in the equipment shed and cannot accommodate camping there. However, we have ample parking for RVs at any time of the year. And if you are an experienced snow camper, we have several locations to choose from. We have a farm stand where you can buy a few snacks. If you want to try our beef, we'll be happy to show you our freezers. We are 2 miles from a convenience store that packs an amazing array of products into a small space. We are close to a gem of a public beach, a winery (Snow Farm Vineyard), apple orchards, a public school playground, and miles of scenic driving. Local farmers markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays offer some of the best produce from these agricultural islands. We also own 1000' frontage on Lake Champlain, which you may enjoy. It is difficult to access, but affords privacy and serenity. We allow campfires on the gravel areas of the farm and on the beach, where you can gather dead wood. If you want to host a large group, you will need to reserve both campsites and rent a port-o-let (Vermont's lingo for porta-potty) if we don't already have one. Additional fees might apply. There is no RV electrical hookup; however, the equipment shed has electric outlets for your use. Additional fees apply for energy intensive appliances, such as heaters or air conditioners. There is no water hookup; however, we can fill your tanks with a hose from a potable water supply. Generators are not allowed, unless you are sufficiently distanced from other campers and our neighbors. Other accommodations may be available. Just ask! We have many resources, and want you to have a great visit.
