2 nights at Eagle Lode

Absolutely loved this wild and quiet spot deep in nature. I didn’t see a single person while I was there, which made it perfect for disconnecting and enjoying the outdoors. The surrounding forest is beautiful, and waking up to the view from my rooftop tent was unforgettable. A few things to keep in mind: if it rains, the creeks can rise fast and the road out can become tricky. I wouldn’t recommend trying it in a sedan—my F-150 handled it just fine, but smaller cars might struggle. Make sure you’re prepared for rough terrain if the weather turns. If you’re looking for solitude, natural beauty, and a bit of adventure, this spot is a gem.

This is a great campsite with its view over Sturgis. They offer variable parking for RVs, tents, or just let you go old school sleeping out under the stars. The owners were friendly and helpful in making sure if I needed anything. Don't forget to mark this spot on your road map.

Weekend Trip to Eagle Lode

We stayed here in an apocalyptic thunder, lightening and rain storm! Rained almost 2 inches in 3 hours. The site has a wooden platform, and has a gravel base. It was perfect! No mud and easy to drive out the next day. It was private and the birds were singing. I would stay here again.

The atmosphere is calming and peaceful, away from any hustle and hustle of tourism. Bears Den is less than an hour from any popular attraction in the area, including Mt Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial. Available are some canvas tents, set up like a bedroom at home. Also available is a small cabin, as well as sites to set up your own tent. I was able to use my hammock, with a few trees close enough to do so, in my tent site. Tammy is very warm and welcoming Hostess. She'll do anything within her power to make you feel more comfortable. She helped make my South Dakota visit the best I could imagine.

Really gorgeous spot. The road is pretty rough coming in, so take it slow and don't do anything crazy. We could hear the river from where we were and it felt very private.

Incredible place to stay at. It's very apparent how much love Tammy puts into the space. 10/10 would recommend. Showers and bathrooms were spotless. Even though we didn't use them, the microwave and ice in the kitchen could be super nice to have for other campers.

This campground was very hospitable for our group. Jennifer assisted us with having the perfect site for our party of 4 rooftop tent campers. We were escorted to our site among the pines and along the national forest boundary.

This features private full restrooms with individual sinks, showers and toilets. We strive to provide a family friendly campground. Therefore, our quiet hours are from 10pm to 7am. Coyote Crossing is a beautiful valley just south of the Great Black Hills of South Dakota. We have grassland, wooded areas, and even sand and sage spots, if that's what you're into! There's many acres of trees along Horsehead Creek to explore with many cottonwoods over 100 years old and hidden groves. Our RV rental comes with access to our gathering area with the chickens and goats for live entertainment! Feeding the goats and gathering your own eggs is an option here! There is an outside bathroom, horseshoe pits, fire pit and covered seating in case the weather gets moody. Just 5 miles from the property are all the water activities you can imagine at the Angustora Reservoir and Recreation area with beaches, docks, and eating establishments. 10 miles away is the beautiful town of Hot Springs where you can find bones at the Mammoth Site or take a dip in the healing waters of Moccasin Springs or the historic Evan's Plunge! Just beyond town is Wind Cave Nat'l Park where you can see buffalo and other wildlife. Mt Rushmore is only 30 miles further, along with the Crazy Horse Memorial! There's just too many sites to explore in our area to list! If you're into gambling, Prairie Winds Casino is just a 20 minute drive. 42 miles to the south is Fort Robinson State Park where you can visit the museum and explore the old army post. Chadron State Park is also there, along with Toadstool Park. We do harvest our alfalfa up to 3 times each season. So if you'd like to see how that is done, inquire on the timing!
